Yes, that's a personal card. With the 9 digit code -maybe- it gets around the 24 months restriction. I'm not well versed about that. BUT you don't want to get on the grAAvy train with personal cards anyways. That's usually for people who are lol/24 and not looking back. 🤣

So, good plan sticking to the biz card. :) The 70k for $4000 spend offer is good. There's also a 75k for $5000, but probably not worth an extra $1000 spend for 5k miles.

Ok thank you. I have a little to go on my MSR from this CIP and once I've reached it, I think I will go for the CitiAAbusinessMastercardwithareallylong name for 70,000 points (assuming it still exists by that time).

Back from our trip to the bay area - will do hotel reviews on the other thread when I have more time. Trip was good, but had some odd travel experiences.

On our way out we had a mechanical issue with the plane - were waiting to take off, then had to return to the gate. Had to reroute because we would miss our connection, wound up getting in 5.5 hours later than originally scheduled - with 2 stops in between (one plane change/one stop on the same plane). I need to contact Southwest about compensation - esp. because we had gotten up at 3am for our 5am flight, then didn't leave until 9:40. Has anyone been successful with that without tweeting? Should I have handled it before now (we flew on Saturday, but didn't feel like fighting with them on vacation). Thank goodness for lounges - we hung out and got breakfast, so it could have been worse.

No Marriott suite rewards on this trip - my requests were all denied. Bummer - could have used extra space with all 4 of us traveling. One hotel gave us breakfast for all 4 of us, the other gave us $24 off our check (2x $12 continental breakfast).

Weirdest one - we rented a car from National. They couldn't print us a receipt when we returned the car, and we hadn't gotten an emailed receipt either, so DH called (we rented in his name to use the CSR travel credit). Yeah, they have no record of us renting the car! They have the reservation in the system as cancelled (no show), but we definitely used one of their cars for 4 days. So, not sure if they are going to charge us for it after all (so I need to spend $300 on something else travel related in the next 10 days because I'm planning to PC that card this month and get the AF refunded).

Thank you for the heads up on the smoking. I’ll be sure to bring my inhaler.

We also booked it for a pre ABD trip on points. I did know that the location wasn’t ideal but wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I keep reading rave reviews from other ABD peeps. I fell in love with the Peninsula hotels when we got to experience them on the ABD China trip. Looking forward to the Japan ABD!

You are going to LOVE the Japan ABD. My favorite ever. Tomomi and James were fantastic and we had Ken as a shadow guide, which was like having a third guide because he was hands-on. I am eternally grateful to Ken for being there for my dd when she was very sick and I had very briefly stepped away to go to the bathroom (which of course had a line up). Nothing but raves reviews from me on this trip.

Anyways back to the Park Hyatt -- if you are only in Tokyo for a few days before the ABD I might suggest looking at other options since the location really isn't great (for example it will take you an hour to get to TeamLab from the hotel by subway - yikes! We were told a cab to TeamLab would run upwards of $80.00 each way, so we took the train). They do have a shuttle that drops off at the train station every 20 minutes, but you have to time your departure just right. A taxi will run you anywhere from $8.00 to $10.00 depending on the route the driver takes. We found it hard to get a cab to go back to the hotel from the subway, so walked a few times. Not a big deal, but after a long, hot day walking all over Tokyo, does one really want a 10 minute walk back to the hotel (I didn't)?

After our first night at the Park Hyatt I actually considered moving to the Peninsula because the location wasn't good. Everything we wanted to do was on the other side of town and Tokyo is a big city, which translates to considerable time spent in commuting. Truthfully once we were at the Peninsula and I looked up where the PH was I was going to cancel and change to the Peninsula for our post-days, but the Peninsula was running $900.00 / night, so I decided to stay with the PH. LMK if you have any questions!

If you are sensitive to smoke and want to visit the famed New York Bar atop the PH definitely take your inhaler. The Peninsula also has a nice bar, which I don't recall anyone smoking in.

Returned from Japan (gone almost 3 weeks) on Monday, returned to work on Tuesday and for some reason jetlag is hitting me a bit harder than I anticipated. Japan was AWESOME -- dd and I spent 3 days in Kyoto on our own (LOVED Kyoto) before joining our ABD tour. The ABD tour was beyond amazing -- this is 1 trip that I'd actually consider doing again, which is something I've never said before (it was our 8th trip with them).

As some may recall we did 3 nights (after our 2 nights / 3 days at Tokyo Disney booked through ABD {for the extra FPs which were lifesavers with the crowded parks -- on our last day we rode 11 rides between 10am and 4:00pm with just FPs, including my favorite, Toy Story 3 times}) Park Hyatt on points / cash combo. I wanted to give a bit of a review.

The staff at the hotel are very nice and service was great. However I wouldn't recommend this hotel. There are a few reasons: i) location is not great -- it is in the Shinjuku (business) district and a 10 minute walk from the subway, which is a huge pain ii) we had a park king one bedroom suite (on cash / points), which needed a refresh; it was very nicely done when the hotel opened (maybe 15 or so years ago), but it's showing wear, the furniture is outdated and there are mirrors everywhere (including in the commode room) was odd and definitely dated the room (though the view of Mount Fuji was amazing -- probably my favorite part of the room iii) the hotel is located on the 41st floor of an office tower; to access the guest elevators you must take an elevator to the 41st floor, then walk down and around a few corridors to access the elevators to the guest rooms; not a huge deal, but not my favorite set up either -- allow 5 - 7 minutes to get to the front of the hotel; also there were a few times when business people were attending an event on the 39th floor (which shares the hotel elevator) and we experienced a bit of a wait and iv) $50.00 per person for the breakfast buffet!!! Dd and I ordered off the menu on our first morning (thinking I could save a bit of money, but it ended up costing more); the next 2 mornings I picked up pastries / yogurt at a cafe the night before and we ate in the room.

Edited to add 1 final point about the hotel: I visited the New York Bar on my last night to see what the hype was about (while I don't normally go to bars solo I felt it was a *must do* at this particular hotel; there was a nice jazz band playing and I enjoyed the music; I ordered a drink and secured a window seat (gorgeous view), HOWEVER the bar allows smoking (I didn't even realize this was allowed) and the table of 6 next to me were all smoking. I managed a few sips of my drink, got the bill and went to leave, alas the band pulled me back in for a few more songs, but I stood closer to the exit where the smell of smoke wasn't as pervasive. I'd say the bar is riding on its reputation from Lost in Translation because it didn't do much for me (my view may have been different if it was non-smoking). Just my $0.02 of course!

With ABD we stayed at the Peninsula and it was GORGEOUS. Location was ideal -- a brief 2 or 3 minute walk to 2 subway lines and walking distance to a plethora of shops / restaurants. If we visit Tokyo again I'll stay at the Peninsula -- the location of the Park Hyatt was a huge detractor for me.

Any questions let me know.

We both LOVED Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, Shirakawa-go, Odawara, Takayama and Hakone) -- it's a spectacular country with delicious food and some of the kindest people I have met while traveling. DisneySea was my favorite of the 2 Disney parks by a wide margin.
Thanks so much for the post! We leave for our Japan ABD in a few weeks. I'd debated using URs to get a relatively cheap rate at the Park Hyatt for our 2 pre-days in Tokyo, but I ended up paying cash for the Tokyo Station hotel because it looked to be in a much more convenient location. So glad I did! I was also thrilled a few days ago to find out that the concierge at the Tokyo Station managed to get us a very coveted restaurant reservation (the Peninsula wasn't even able to get it). If you've seen a certain documentary you'll know the one I'm referring to :) The Park Hyatt has kind of been a bucket list hotel after seeing the movie, but I'll definitely save it for another trip.

Should be fine for the 1.5 redemption, only comment would be if you have downgraded the card before the travel, the CSR trip insurance coverage would no longer be in effect, probably not a big deal for most people but just fyi especially for things like rental cars.

Thanks @GusGus16 and @SouthFayetteFan for following up on that. Don't even know that it will apply to me, but starting to strategize out ahead as much as possible.

Do you know what the new price is for renewal of a plat pass? Wonder if I can do that with discounted GC and come out about the same as stashing. It wasn't in the budget for now, hence why I staggered the renewals on purpose but it is alot of money saved to stash them.
Yes, a Platinum pass renewal would now cost $1,012.82 ($951.00 + 61.82 tax). If you get all your Disney GCs at 10% off or greater, you will actually save more.

I liked the fact that I could get at least 4 more months out of 1 of the passes I bought (don't need it until October, renewal is July) and that the purchase helped eat 37% of my Amex MSR.

It doesn’t look like my AA points will post in time for me to book Swan for August by the 60 day window. If I book a different WDW resort and make FPs, could I then book Swan next month when my AA points post and then cancel the original hotel? Would my FPs stay in my account?

I closed out my AA Citi Biz yesterday. I'm thinking of going for #2 today. I'm just trying to debate $5k/75k or $4k/70K. I think I read people were having luck off the public links by doing a new/different offer. I don't remember what I signed up w/ (I think 60k miles) so I'm learning towards trying the $5k/75k. In the words of Jimmy Buffett, indecision may or may not be my problem.

Since there's no airline credit, there is no way for me to know if I get the miles until I post all $5k, right? I guess that's the risk I run trying for #2.

I just took a look at UCT ticket prices because we haven't bought any in 18 months.

:eek: :faint::sad:đź’°

6 adults for next March. We'll be buying them for everyone since dd24 can't afford to pay that much on her salary. It's only fair. But honestly.

Isn’t that overkill? Why the bag if you already Clorox’d It?

Now see this sleeves me out for some reason. Eating someone else’s food? Nope. Shower curtain? Nope. My biggest skeeve is toilet flushed with lid up 🤢 Yep, slightly irrational Before we moved into current house, hired a cleaning service to do pre move in cleaning.

My kids favorite part of Airbnb is when someone has left something good to eat in the freezer or cabinet especially if it’s something I don’t usually buy like pizza rolls or Oreos. Lol. I love hearing about how other people do things.
