Thanks so much for the post! We leave for our Japan ABD in a few weeks. I'd debated using URs to get a relatively cheap rate at the Park Hyatt for our 2 pre-days in Tokyo, but I ended up paying cash for the Tokyo Station hotel because it looked to be in a much more convenient location. So glad I did! I was also thrilled a few days ago to find out that the concierge at the Tokyo Station managed to get us a very coveted restaurant reservation (the Peninsula wasn't even able to get it). If you've seen a certain documentary you'll know the one I'm referring to The Park Hyatt has kind of been a bucket list hotel after seeing the movie, but I'll definitely save it for another trip.

If it's Jiro's, I just want to say I am BEYOND jealous!!!

Neither P2 nor myself closed our CIP1 before receiving 2nds.

out of curiosity, what status do u have with hyatt? also what hyatt is it?

I am discoverist which comes free with the Hyatt card. This is the Hyatt Regency Toronto.

My favorite is when Citi overnights that letter and the card shows up snail mail

So weird! But at least by your comment I am assuming this is standard for them. I was wondering if the card was somehow missing. But nothing in the letter indicated that there was a card included.

Now see this sleeves me out for some reason. Eating someone else’s food? Nope. Shower curtain? Nope. My biggest skeeve is toilet flushed with lid up Yep, slightly irrational Before we moved into current house, hired a cleaning service to do pre move in cleaning.

It reminds of a patient I had once, he was 96 or 97. He had two gentlemen visit every day, they were in their 30’s. They talked about how he lived with them and they took care of him. I assumed grandson, until one day on leaving One said “Bye Dad, see you tomorrow”

I always have hand sanitizer. I have one attached to my purse. Drives me nuts that I have to remove when going thru airport security.

I told my sister I would take niece to DL next year. I would pay (use points) air & hotel, she would buy park ticket. Nope. I would never charge family.

I don't have a problem with money changing hands. I have a problem with people deciding after the fact that they should ask for money.

I just read a last year's thread on giving up mouse keeping in favor of a giftcard. Wow, just wow!

First the 'how disgusting will the room be without maid service for 3 nights' and then the guy who thinks you should use a single towel for your whole visit whether it is 1 night or 10 nights because according to him it's not 'dirty' when used after a clean shower. I'm thinking of all the dead skin cells that are all over it after 10 nights.

Personally I'd love the gift card, but it is a 'personal' choice and no judgey.

I often bypass housekeeping to get extra points. I did have to request my points from my last Marriott stay as they didn't give them to me. I don't think I would do it 10 days. Maybe I am the odd ball but I don't change my towel at home every day. So I don't need a new one everyday at the hotel. I've found you can ask for extra towels and still skip housekeeping.

Yeah, I regularly travel with DD (age 30). I pay for the hotel (now with points), rental car, gas, excursions (whale watching in Maine, ATV in Moab). I'd pay for the hotel and car if she wasn't going so I am fine with not asking to share that cost. I told her up front she pays for her airfare and then we usually switch paying every other meal. At 30 with a regular job, I don't think it is a hardship for her to pay for some of her costs. Now DS is still in college so I pay for his airfare and food. All pay for their own souvenirs. I do agree, you have to agree up-front well before you travel what the expectations are.

Ok thanks, I was wondering if the card was missing from the envelope. It was just weird because I never got a letter like that with info about the card but no card with it.

Totally normal for Citi. The card will actually come about 10 days after approval. The T&C always come first, managing to falsely raise hopes.

Seems a little odd to charge family, but as long as both agree ahead it’s fine. I wouldn’t charge but then again my sister would never go anywhere she’d need my points and she won’t let me bring one of her kids with me.

Checked into Swan this morning on AA miles. They added my Bonvoy number AMD saw I am platinum so I was offered breakfast vouchers or 1k points. Took the points. We wouldnt use the voucher this time around. She also upgraded us to a king high floor. Will have to see what it is... Nothing can be as bad as the view we had on our anniversary I planned on asking even though technically it's a third party booking, because when I booked with URs before they upgraded us to a resort view.

Glad this new SW biz card isnt exactly like the Priority. I would rather have the travel credit vs the wifi credits and I would have been kicking myself since I just closed my biz card Tuesday. Though with wifi I could keep up on here..

Yes, we always take the gift card in lieu of mousekeeping. I always get fresh towels each day, either by calling or grabbing off the cart.

Actually it isn’t! The room actually looks to be pretty recently redone. Smells clean, and I can tell the carpet has been vacuumed. When we pulled in, DH asked why we weren’t staying at the Courtyard across the street. Ummm because that’s $127/night and the Super 8 was $180 for three nights

Between 50 years of being around livestock and 30+ years in nursing, I wash my hands fairly often but don’t think much about germs otherwise. Now... mold in the hotel ceiling

Sadly, no upgrade or anything extra at the Hyatt. Unless you count a recently renovated room. We used the visitor toll pass this morning at MCO and it was super easy, once the gentlemen showed who run the program. The Mears Shuttle lady was super helpful with pointing out what to look for.

We did get an upgrade at Sheraton Sand Key at Clearwater Beach since we have an oceanfront balcony. The lounge HH was pretty since make your own cocktails are included. The location is a little too quiet for us though since it is not right in CB.

Sadly, it looks like we are canceling our Aug to Punta Cana. We’ve been multiple times with no problems but all of these news reports has DH spooked and we were supposed to be taking my mom with us. Now to find a replacement vacation.
