We leave for FW friday and my beagle ( Lucy ) that we have had for 8 1/2 years died this morning in surgery, I'm in a state of shock, she had a twisted bowel and got extremely sick two days ago, and now she's gone. My oh my how I loved her ! I guess I'll call tomorrow and cancel the prefered pet loop and move to something different. This was half the reason we alway camped we loved to take her with us. I miss her already !:sad1:

I am so sorry to hear this . I know it is hard and it will be difficult for awhile, you lost a beloved member of your family. Hugs to you and Lucy.

I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved Lucy. Our pets become so much a part of the family.:sad1: My heart just breaks for you. We also got into camping because of our dog. It's tough, we lost ours in August after 13 years. We did get a new pup some months later..mostly because my youngest didn't remember having a puppy because he was little at the same time. I tell you though..I still miss my old friend. They leave paw prints on your heart forever. I will be thinking of you and your family.

:sad1: So sorry for your loss. MY BFF has a beagle named Lucy also. I know the pain of loosing a pet. It's a very painful almost like loosing part of your family.

I am so sorry about your baby. It's difficult enough on it's own but right before your trip has got to make it even more so. :sad1:
By the way, I think you should post it here. Doggies are a big part of a lot of FW fans trips and you'll find many people understand how you feel here (how many times have I walked around a site and seen little dogs guarding their home away from home on the front dash of a Class A, etc, etc?). We'll all be thinking of you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Two years ago when my dh and dss were away our dog got sick and died. I had to deal with it all alone and then tell them about it. It is a hard thing to deal with. :grouphug:

Oh that is just so sad! We recently lost a cat very unexpectedly and quickly...just horrible. You'll be in my thoughts.

That is so horrible, you'll be in our prayers. We are about to make our first trip to Disney and the one thing I am dreading is having to leave our two dogs at home. I hope you have a good trip.

Im so sorry!!! Even though this was a fun place to bring Miss Lucy, maybe it will also be a distraction for you all to be in WDW.
Hugs to your family.
Jenny

I'm so sorry to hear about your lose. My heart goes out to you.
I hope you have a good trip.

I'm so sorry. We've lost several pets over the years. It is always so hard especially when it is unexpected. We've only lost a cat years ago and a rat (yes, I said rat) unexpectedly. We also lost 2 dogs years ago to old age so we weren't surprised but even then we were devestated.

I am sorry for your loss. Beagles are such loving dogs I am sure she was a wonderful member of your family.

Know that others share in your pain and while it's difficult right now, things will get better. You will carry Lucy's heart with you always. Try to see your upcoming trip as a celebration of her life and the joy she brought your family.

"Heaven is the place
where all the dogs you ever loved
run to greet you."

You'll see her again.

I'm so sorry. I don't normally post on the camping board, but I happened across this thread when I clicked on it from the home page accidentally. My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss.
I do not know if this will bring you comfort or not, but this was helpful to me when we lost our furry friend a few years ago.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you for this, we are all in such a mode of grief right now, a doggie door without a dog, all the things I had put into the tt for her first trip to FW. Our hearts are broken ! She would be laying beside me right now if she were still here.

So very sorry for your loss - can't imagine life without our Scruffy, and yet we mourn Max who was before him....You're right, it is the perk and often the reason for camping. Stay away from the pet loop to mend your heart but try to enjoy the vacation....

I am so sorry for your loss. I work in veterinary medicine, so I know first hand how shocking it can be to have your beloved pet die so suddenly.
Again, I am so sorry...
