I Knew You Would Eventually Get Tired of Disney World - April '12 TR - Completed 2/9

We are staying at AOA in December in the Lion King suites. We had first selected Nemo but when FD came available Nemo was not available so we went with our second choice. I'll take the FD and walk a little further:).
I love the pirate pix and have never noticed them before- probably because I was shopping and had my nose in the racks:rotfl2:.
Fulton's looks fantastic! Sorry you didn't enjoy it as much. I have tried the fancier restaurants(Jiko,Cali grill, Narcooses) on my adult business trips where we may have selected to go to those conferences because they were in Orlando:rolleyes1.
I will probably wait to try Fulton's- but holy crab legs!

I am just jumping in now but in a way it's a good thing because I never have patience to wait for updates so I was able to read it all at once so far :D

I always love to hear how others approach their trips and what their favorite things are. We used to be rope drop to close type people but now with a 3 year old we are meander and hope for less tantrums type people, LOL!

How old was Emily when she started enjoying the bigger rides? I've been working on the 40 inch stretch with our DD but I'm not sure if she'll even like the rides.

Camp Minnie Mickey! Excellent, Smithers. Love that LK show. Even my non show loving family thought it was great (Quinn did fall asleep halfway through, but beggars can't be choosers, kwim?).

Fulton's looked really good. It's never been on our list, because Tim doesn't really like seafood (THE HORROR). I love lobster though. Or, as Mainers say it, lobstah! That's one thing you can't really get in landlocked New Mexico.

The outside seating on the water looked really cool, too. Also, not a lot of water here. It's sad.

There was one more thing I wanted to comment on in your TR...had to scroll to find it, and now I can't believe I forgot. THIRTY SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR THAT CASTLE. OMGWTFBBQ that is more than MY CAR (by a lot).

(Note that I have a Subaru, but still.)

Amazing that people buy that. And why not just round on up to 40K? As if someone looking to buy a castle like that would have a problem with it. "Oh my, my $40,000 for that castle is just way too much. How overpriced. If only it were a reasonable cost, like, say, $37,500. Now that's fair market value, I tell you." Riiiiight.

Just found your trip report and spent way too much time reading it all. Love it! Thank you for the distraction from my post vacation (not Disney vacation though) blues. :)

Great updates, Jon (yes, I'm still here and I'm assuming you are still following my PTR :lmao::lmao::lmao:), but things have been hectic with my MIL being moved to hospice (and now my brother has a major medical problem) and the wedding was moved up a year.

LOVE the udpates; love DTD and Fulton's Crabhouse (maybe I need to squeeze that in...we've not been since 2009!).

Love Em's creative dessert. :goodvibes

is it just me or are minnie's shoes on the wrong feet??

I'm glad to hear such a great review of Fultons even if the crowd was a drag.

Amazing how kids attitudes can suck us all in. Well adults too lol. I do think DTD and shopping in general can put everyone on edge and facilitate meltdowns in general. The only known cure? Adult beverages and Disney (or a cab in Kristin's case) driving you back to the resort, followed by pool time.

fultons looks great.. love me some lobster!!!

I am ashamed to admit 2 things I donot know:

1. where the heck is that fountain at AK where the kids play in? can adults play there too?

2. you can walk THROUGH the middle of Ak to get to the lion king show?

we always talk about exploring the discovery island trails, but I though when we were all there in april a lot of them were closed? we foun done, and it kind of dead ended.

Nilla - I am caught up again. I actually wasn't too far behind since it looks like you posted last around the same time I did. :rotfl:

OK - I read it this morning so let's see what I can remember.

Oh yeah - Yum to all that fun seafood at Fultons. Ever since I moved from PA to Delaware and closer to the Chesapeake I have been spoiled by amazing shellfish, especially crabs. But that does look pretty darn good. I love the outside seating. I have never eaten at Fultons, but I would like to give it a try. My mission should be to eat at every WDW restaurant, don't you think? ;)

Great pictures from World of Disney and the Lego shop. OK, that's about all I can remember. Looking forward to more!

I'm so behind...

Cab after cab line the curb by the parking lot, but there's something missing - drivers. No, wait - they'll all just hanging out in one van. It's packed like a Volkswagen Beetle in a circus.

That's a funny image.

I did not realize how long the drive from AK to DTD is. But it's long. Like "add more o's to the word for dramatic effect" long. Looooooooong, I tell ya.

Oooooookkkkkaaaaayyyyy.

We drop into the crystal place (forget the name) so Kristin can get gifts for our friends' kids - engraved glasses. I poke around. Hey, awesome castle! I wonder what it costs.

Whoa! Alright. That's about $37,450 more than I'm willing to drop on it right now! It's amazing, though. Here's more.

But there are NO underwear for a kid his age in this store. Unless you want to pay $30 for ONE pair of boxers. I was thinking more like $8 for five pairs, so.....no.

We got stuck paying a ton of money for socks one year when my daughter ran out.

.this dinner is not only fancy, but quite possibly shmancy as well.

Fancy and shmancy! Sounds great!

Now, there's NO WAY Dylan's going to eat seafood, so we get him a Filet instead. He's not thrilled.

Not thrilled with filet?

Kristin and I went for the whole lobster deal, which I've never done before. I think she did in Maine, but does not remember how. No worries - our waitress is from Louisiana, so we're experts soon enough. Or we know enough to be dangerous. You decide. Here's what it looks like:

I thought you said this was lobster? I see crab legs in there.

By the way, that shot was post-cracking. The lobster looked like a proper lobster when it arrived at our table. We both prefer crab to lobster, but this was a really good lobster. Sort of odd that crab fans would get lobster at a crab place, no? But we're in Disney, and it's my unbirthday, so anything goes!

I see. You get both. Sounds great. Whoa! Just checked allears. $88!

I think it's a cobbler. Not sure. lauren_74 admitted in her TR that she does not take meal pics, and maybe I shouldn't either, since I never know what the heck is in those pics anyway.

I said I should take them but I'm a bad trip reporter who neglected to do so. I'm going to try harder next year.

Love me some Monopoly. Kristin refuses to play with Dylan and me, because we allegedly "gang up on her". No, we just realize that you're better than us and don't like to hand you the game by letting you get the powder blue monopoly. Sorry. Alright, one more shot, then off to the bus stop.

I've discovered Monopoly on the iPad and it's so much better than dealing with the traditional version. At least it's better from a lazy person's perspective. No set up, no clean up, no banking.

We reach the bus stop, which is one of the last ones down the row. The wait was a bit extensive, too, but finally, we're on. Looks to be a lot of conventioners on this bus, so naturally, I hate them. I don't know why - they haven't done anything to offend me, and I've been to conventions. It just seems like they're trespassing on MY turf. If you're not here for Disney, you're simply not worthy of Disney. I don't know how I could possibly sugar coat that!

:lmao:

Great updates Nilla! Love the photos!

For whatever reason, I've been un-DIS-motivated the past few weeks, which means no update, and I've fallen behind on others' TRs. This will all change next week!

I hope :guilty:

I don't know about you, but here in Indiana we are busy getting the younguns off to school. I don't understand why that makes the parents so busy, but there you go. It's tough to get them back in school. Plus all the reunions in August. Lots of excuses. Pick one. ::yes::

I am just stopping by to say  and to sprinkle you with a little pixiedust: in hopes that you will update again. If I have to :hyper: and :worship: to get you back on your :surfweb:, I will do that.

Nilla? Hellooooo….. I think this is just cruel – suck in the readers to a fabulous TR that has a style that allows us to be on the trip with your family…….then you just stop. I’m beginning to think the TR title was more about you – and not Kristin. Well I’m here to guilt you back.

I am the ultimate lurker – love reading about Disney, picking up all kinds of tid-bits – for our first (and possibly only trip to WDW in 2013 - I know - who could imagine). You seem to have similar likes as my DH and I have found your detailed notes quite helpful – especially about all the ‘beverages’ in Epcot. Love how you write about your family as well. Here comes the guilt:

1. I have been extremely patient – when I caught up reading this trip report and there were still no updates, I went back and read TR’s 1 & 2.
2. I actually signed up on the DisBoards just to post this.
3. You get my very first post! :woohoo: - feeling special yet? :lmao:
4. I’ve bumped you back to page 1 (from page 4!)

Please take the above in the good fun it was meant ;). In all seriousness, I hope all is well and you just need a break from writing.

Jen

Just joining in the fun... Are there any trip report writers in here?:rolleyes1

Yoohoo....Nilla? Are you still there? :wave2: I hope the motivation returns soon for you to return to your TR.

Nilla - Come Back! We really want you to write the ending to your TR. But since you haven't been on here in over 6 weeks I would say its looking pretty doubtful. :rolleyes2
