Seriously, I hope everything is OK with you, Kristin and the kids and it's just a matter of life getting in the way of the DIS.

BTW - I've had such nilla trip report withdrawal that I had to go ahead and book a trip of our own for this year! We just decided at the end of August to go back to Disney this October. I've never planned a trip in 2 months before!

Thank you for the well wishes and concern, but my laziness is nothing to have sorrow over. This Trip Report is down...


...but not out. Normally, I'd put all kinds of exclamation points after that last sentence, but I've broken too many update promises already.


BUT


I DO plan to finish this TR. I DO hope to start within the next week. I DO have an entire update that was done about two months ago. This story will not go unfinished!

Apologies to those of you following this TR, and even more to those whose TRs I haven't been reading. I did better than I have before keeping up, but not good enough. This is a work in progress.

So there it is. Consider this TR "down for maintenance". No worries - it'll open again soon. And no, it will not have Donald Duck added in places that formerly had more entertaining, more authentic visuals of Mexican culture.

With two more days, we've managed to get around a number of crises. I hand-washed a pair of Dylan's boxers with body wash. My last pairs of shorts

have stayed free of dropped food, which for me, is a huge accomplishment. But there is one problem I just can't seem to lick.

Sleep.

As the trip has gone one, I'm finding myself waking up around 2 or 3 am and not being able to fall asleep. Fortunately, we get free wireless at CSR this year, so I've been sitting on the floor by the bathroom mirror watching crappy horror movies on Netflix. Or, more accurately, fast-forwarding through the crappy horror movies for even a glimpse of watchability. No luck. I've ventured out to the DIS. Anything exciting going on?

Wait, what?

Soarin' closed indefinitely? Are you serious??

I'm sure you all know the story by now, or at least what's been told of it. But here we were, right in the middle of Disney drama. Soarin' closed.

No official word yet from Disney. So no more Soarin' for this vacation?

As if that's not enough, it looks like the girl from Brave (whose name I can't spell, and won't try) was at Epcot two days ago. Probably won't be there today. No Soarin'. Darn it. Already, no Test Track, now this? I'm guessing a lot of Maelstrom FPs are being handed out today.

But this is not an immediate concern. We're hitting the pool this morning, hopefully in time for the grand opening.

We get there just as the pool gods are about to unleash their fury.

I take the opportunity to get even more pictures, such as the pyramid from every conceivable angle.

So we swim. And we slide. And we have fun.

Hey, they're going again! They're up there, waving.

They're not in this picture. But the jaguar slide is still great.

There was one thing we didn't do.

Could you imagine doing that? I wonder if anyone ever did? We can talk about that more later (or not), but let's get back to the Ping Pong Championship of America.

That's an interesting set-up. All plastic paddle. Metal "net" (it's more like a fence). And a breeze. Emily meets a friend over on the playground. Here's Em. Not the friend. But she's around.

Alright, all this swimming, sliding, and not diving into shallow water is making me hungry. But Siesta's isn't open yet.

Oh, wait - now it is. I get whatever the local beer is, and Kristin gets a margarita.

It takes forever for our food to be done, but it's worth it when we get it. Dylan and I got burgers.

Kristin got the nachos.

Emily got the mini hot dogs.

In all, it's a great meal for what it is, and it's convenient. The blackbirds weren't as bold this year, either, so our fries are intact.

Alright, enough pool. Enough lunch. One more shot of Emily, and then it's off to Epcot!

Love all the shots of the Dig Site pool. I never got to use it last month when we were there and never even walked over there, so it was good to see the pictures.

(ps, do you guys like those chips? nebo and I hated them.. but then, we don't like any kind of kettle chips. we like ours like Lays, nice and thin and greasy and salty!)

Correct! To be honest, that last update was written last summer. It just took me that long to post it.

They were really bad last year (2011), but not bad this year. Maybe we've become more intimidating since then. Or maybe we just eat too early.

(ps, do you guys like those chips? nebo and I hated them.

I like them. Lays are great, too, as are Utz. Speaking of Utz, I always get a kick out of the "voted best chip in 1981" or whatever it says. Not as funny as the PBR claim ("best" back in the late 1800s), but still funny. BTW, did you know that the Utz girl is engaged to the guy from the Natty Boh beer can? At least, I think they are. Or they appeared that way in an Anapolis jeweler ad. One of those things is true.

That's my favorite slide of where we stayed (POFQ, POR, WL, CS)!
