I Knew You Would Eventually Get Tired of Disney World - April '12 TR - Completed 2/9

Trilogy of Terror :lmao: (The episode with the evil tribal doll is my favorite)

Cape May looks so good! Snow crab legs....yummm.

So glad to hear you all had a good day and there will be Disney trips in your future!

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip.

I'm with Mary Ellen, I thought he lost his hat at the Studios? :confused3

How VERY cool that both were found.

It's funny, I've stayed at both the BC and the YC and vastly prefer the YC. Not because it's stuffy, as it's honestly some of the best service I've had anywhere and my favorite room almost ever but because it really didn't feel stuffy at all. Maybe it's the nautical decor (crisp, clean, serene in the chaos that is my family) but I get that feeling far more from BC (which is too nutso with a bazillion little kids...I can say that now that mine are older, HA) and from the GF. Then again, I'm not big on flowery decor anywhere so...there you go. The BCV though....love that, gets a bit back to the calm oasis.

And Hey, just tell Kristin that SAB, for as cool as it is, can be a parents nightmare. Do you know how EASY it is to lose a child there? Especially if you are trying to track 4 in total plus run errands for your in laws? Who, with your DH "should" be keeping track of the kids while you make sure the rest of them have libations and figure out dinner because you missed an ADR because SAB won over dinner.

Even a tall 9 year old swimshirt and HAT wearing boy who should stick out like a sore thumb (and should be old enough not to get in real trouble, disappear or drown) simply due to the fact he's the only kid in the water with a (wet) hat on his age?

I digress.

You can get a workout rushing around that place trying to find a kid!

I was worried it would be though, before we went, and personally had been lobbying for a treehouse but was overuled by my sometimes stuffy and pretentious (not really but she can have that bent stylistically) MIL. I'm glad she won. Just sayin....might not be as stuffy as you think.

And there are magical CM's who can help restore dinner fiasco's.

I'm just loving all the trip reports and your families. I'm beginning to feel that I know everyone, nilla, katmark, shan, mek.... Each trip report has it's own style and fun to read. It's an inspiration to start a trip report.

Nilla, you do have me laughing! I've been checking and checking for an updatge and presto! Can't wait to read more.... more... more!

Thanks for sharing, Karen

Great update! I can see what you mean about Yacht and Beach club being a little stuffy but I would stay there (if I got a great deal) even if it was only for the location. One thing I don't like about the Epcot resorts is that they all share a bus (Y and BC, BWI, and S & D) to the other parks. I think that if people pay the mucho dinero that it costs to stay there they deserve their own bus. Or at least to not share with so many hotels.

Looks like you had a great meal at Cape May, Glad that Rapunzel (and Dylan's hat) were found!

as far as a deal, rent points for beach club villas! that's what we did.

as far as the buses, you do a split stay. the days you are at beach club, you go to DHS and Epcot. then go to another resort for MK and AK.

I'd probably end up loving them if I stayed there. Walking to Epcot would certainly be nice :)

We LOVE Cape May! The crab legs are amazing, and of course they have the best dessert on property... the Oreo BonBons. :lovestruc. Between DD and I, I think we put away 10 on our last visit.

I love those, too! I was stuffed after the buffet, but still found room. That seems to be a common occurrence for me in WDW!

Poor Dylan, nothing really goes his way does it? ;)

He'd have you believe that.

Wait - I remember Dylan lost his hat, but was it at the BC? So confused. :confused3

He lost it in AK on Day 5 on Expedition Everest. Lost it again in the BC lobby.

I loved staying at the BC (villas). Out of all the Disney resorts I've stayed at, that one really did have the best customer service. Everyone was so nice. I hate stuffy, but I did not find it stuffy at all to stay there. I thought they were way more stuffy and not nearly as nice at the Boardwalk.

Interesting. And again, that pool...

Kristin - You need a plan to get your BC stay. :thumbsup2

That may be complicated, since it would require her going back to work first ;)

Smart move on taking the cab home!

We started doing that following our meal at Jiko two years ago. It's really much easier than going back to the resort and catching a bus, in most circumstances. She's full of good ideas!

Trilogy of Terror :lmao: (The episode with the evil tribal doll is my favorite)

LOVE it! Almost to the point of obsession. My fantasy football team was named "They Who Kill" after it last year :) I have the movie on DVD. It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, so I'm currently debating whether or not to scar my kids with it as well.

So glad to hear you all had a good day and there will be Disney trips in your future!

We're still not 100% sure of that! Well, we may be, but the casual reader isn't supposed to know that yet :)

I'm with Mary Ellen, I thought he lost his hat at the Studios? :confused3

See above. Lost it in AK. I know, all of these hat misplacements tend to blur together!

We had that issue at POFQ. Dylan was on the other side of the pool, where we couldn't see him. He also enjoyed going under water a lot at the time. Not fun!

Hey, it's a good story!

Just sayin....might not be as stuffy as you think.

With all of the positive reviews, it's certainly moving up the "if we ever get to stay at a deluxe" list. Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

Nilla, you do have me laughing! I've been checking and checking for an updatge and presto! Can't wait to read more.... more... more!

I'll try to start Day 9 this weekend. Rain will certainly help this happen. And thanks for the positive comments!

Hmmm, not sure about a split stay. Our unpacking process is quite an undertaking. Don't know that I'd want to do it twice. But what you're saying does make sense, from a park-visiting standpoint.

Lots of great input today! Thanks, everyone! Hopefully I'll pay you back with an update soon :)

Oh no, you think BC is stuffy? Sad panda. I love the beach club! My ILs stayed there when we were at BWI and I really, really liked it. I actually thought the entire Epcot resort area was to die for, except for those dang buses to MK. We mostly went to Epcot and DHS while we stayed there, but we park hopped a lot and still uses the buses and...meh. That's the main reason we won't stay there again. That, and DH is putting his foot down--AK next time or we aren't going. Eek.

Awesome pool pics!

Another vote for giving Beach Club a try! :thumbsup2. The walk into Epcot really cant be beat. I do agree with the comments that Stormalong Bay can be a little overwhelming- especially if needing to keep track of kids. How about a grown-ups getaway? :)

So glad your lost items were found!

Look at how happy they look in that last picture. Really hope the last 3 days don't spoil it. :crazy2:

Hey! I started reading this TR a couple of weeks ago, then decided I needed to go back and read versions 1.0 and 2.0 before commenting. Needless to say you now have a TR fan for life!!

What hooked me, you ask? Simple - aside from the awesomeness that is your writing, in version 2.0 you mentioned that "back when I was an MLB fan, I was a BLUE JAYS fan!". :thumbsup2

And I'm hoping that "back when" time was around 1992/93. Otherwise, you won't fully appreciate my little hi-jack story to come...my little brother (11 yrs old) is in Little League, and this past weekend was part of a Blue Jays skills camp. Some of his instructors included none other than Duane Ward, Candy Muldonado and Jesse Barfield (I know, I know, not part of the Team(s) of Dreams, but was part of the teams of the late 80s when they started pulling in the lower pennants).

Anyhow - back to your regularly scheduled Disney programming!! :cool1:

Oh no, you think BC is stuffy? Sad panda. I love the beach club!

Another vote for the Beach Club. It will probably happen someday.

Another vote for giving Beach Club a try! :thumbsup2.

And another! Wow! Alright, I trust you.

Great story! Barfield was one of my favorite players. That was right around World Series time. Every year, I consider watching again, but just can't do it. Maybe I'll start following it instead, and occasionally watch it. But it would definitely be Toronto again.

Thanks for reading! On to the updates.

Before I get to Day 9, I'd like to take a minute to answer some of my fan mail.

Samantha from West Virginia writes,

Hey, nilla - who braided Rapunzel's hair?

Kristin. But that's an story, too. When we got back to CSR, she taught Emily to braid. She didn't want to go to bed after that. But she eventually did.

Dave from Wisonsin asks,

When can we get some more CSR pics?

Oh, I don't know...I think we've posted enough of those. Sorry.

Emily from Pennsylvania writes,

Hey Dad, can I have a Go-gurt?

It's almost 11:00. Why aren't you in bed?

Dave from Wisconin is back. He asks,

C'mon...CSR pics!

Ok, ok. CSR pics. But we have to do the header first.

IMG_2223.jpg

IMG_2412.jpg

Wow, that 9 came out HUGE. And blurry. Yuck. Anyway, CSR.

IMG_2139.jpg

IMG_2140.jpg

You can probably panoramic those two.

IMG_2141.jpg

IMG_2142.jpg

IMG_2143.jpg

That was AFTER I went to El Centro. Before that, the alarm went off...early.

...

Emily sprung out of bed, grabbed Rapunzel, and starting braiding. No problem waking her today! Thanks, Kristin!

Kristin called for Fulton's Crab Boat - er, House ADRs (thanks Dan and Jeanette!), and we got to Animal Kingdom around 10:15. So we didn't get up THAT early, I guess.

By the way, if I told you that she made the ADRs for Fulton's on another day, I was lying, and I'm sorry.

Anyway, we're at Animal Kingdom now, and we're not in race mode. Kind of nice! This is nice, too:

IMG_2145.jpg

So where to start? How about Asia. But wait!

Animal Kingdom? Huh? The header and ToC link for this update says "Pool day ending at Epcot - Lunch at Siestas, Dinner at Rose and Crown". What's going on?

Oh yeah, that all changed. We decided against the pool, since it seems to tire the kids out. Remember, a tired Emily is not a fun Emily. We bagged Rose and Crown, picked up Fulton's, and decided to head over to AK in the morning. It's now our first-ever two-AK-day trip. We're flippin' it up! Anyway, where are we going?

IMG_2144.jpg

OF COURSE ASIA. We need FPs for Everest! And we get 'em. We head over to Africa, where we hit up the apes again.

IMG_2147.jpg

IMG_2150.jpg

I am SO into these gorillas.

IMG_2151.jpg

IMG_2152.jpg

Lilly is in there somewhere. The CM catches us referring to her by name and quickly tells us not to use it. With all the idiots here, I can see people yelling it, but it's not like it hasn't been publicized. I guess the well-behaved people are the well-informed ones, too.

IMG_2154.jpg

IMG_2153.jpg

IMG_2155.jpg

There's always at least one "doesn't it bother you to sleep right next to the glass?" gorilla in there. This is he/she.

IMG_2158.jpg

IMG_2159.jpg

I think She-who-must-not-be-named is in this shot, to the right of the tree. The top of her head. No real good view this time. One last shot.

IMG_2160.jpg

And here are these two.

IMG_2164.jpg

On our way out of Africa, we snagged some Kilimanjaro Safari FPs, then headed over to Everest. On the way, Kristin saw a sign for those Tomorrowland Slushies, so in we go. Neat theming.

IMG_2169.jpg

IMG_2172.jpg

Friendly, too! There's one girl working in here. She's friendly, too. She tells us there are two Hidden Mickeys in this room. Alright, that means we'll be here for another 6 hours! Let's start looking.

IMG_2173.jpg

IMG_2174.jpg

Nah, nothing. Keep looking.

IMG_2175.jpg

I think she tips us off to it's location, which is here:

IMG_2176.jpg

Zoom in, man, zoom in!

IMG_2177.jpg

If you think this update is pic-heavy and story-light...you're right! Not much happening here. FP. Ride. FP. Ride. Crowds are thin. Always time for an ape shot, though.

IMG_2178.jpg

Now, let's play "Where in the World?"

IMG_2179.jpg

IMG_2180.jpg

IMG_2181.jpg

IMG_2182.jpg

We then take a pic of the kids in the little van thing, but wait! A CM is offering to take our picture. Awesome!

IMG_2183.jpg

Love Disney!

We ride Everest. These two are in the back:

IMG_2184.jpg

I'm with this one:

IMG_2185.jpg

Random in-ride shot!

IMG_2186.jpg

Done, that was fun. It's always a question of how much of the Yeti you'll be able to see. They need to fix that thing. Supposedly a nightmare, though. I dig this toy, by the way:

IMG_2189.jpg

Remember when I said crowds are thing? Look at this wait time board:

IMG_2191.jpg

No one is here. Ok, one last Everest shot as we leave.

IMG_2192.jpg

I suggest checking out the Yak and Yeti counter service, and it looks really good! Ok, I'm sold. While the others are in line, I go grab FPs for Kali River Rapids. Of course, there are some obstacles along the way to slow me down.

IMG_2193.jpg

IMG_2195.jpg

IMG_2196.jpg

And now, fake apes!

IMG_2198.jpg

And now, more proper apes!

IMG_2199.jpg

IMG_2202.jpg

IMG_2204.jpg

Ok, I'd better head back. FPs in hand, I join the others. But first, a shot of the big board.

[
IMG_2207.jpg

Kristin got the Sweet 'n Sour Chicken, Dylan and I got the Honey Chicken. It looks good, doesn't it?

IMG_2208.jpg

Alright, let's open 'em up! Not sure which is which from the small thumbnails on Photobucket...

IMG_2211.jpg

IMG_2212.jpg

Em got nuggets.

IMG_2210.jpg

We got this:

IMG_2209.jpg

And all the while, running around our feet, was this:

IMG_2213.jpg

I don't blame the ducklings for running around here. People are freely giving them fries and who knows what else. Why would they leave?

And I mean, literally EVERYONE was feeding them. Except us. I'm firm on that. Get your own food, ducks!

The family next to us has a two or three year old, and he is walking amongst the ducks. Suddenly, we heard a yelp - he had either kicked or stepped on a duckling. It was hopefully ok - it walked away - but COME ON. The parents had no idea that could happen? They didn't seem to care much, either. Unbelievable. On our way out, these two showed us where we should go next.

IMG_2219.jpg

This guy was good. He was playing "It's a Small World", and other stuff.

IMG_2220.jpg

I'm a bit fuzzy on what we did next, because somehow the others got ahead of me on our way back to Africa. All I know is that I'm walking past this:

IMG_2221.jpg

Now, the "Howwwwwwwww MUCH is that doggie in the windowwwww?" thing has gotten pretty big with us now, so my ears are open.

Host: "How are you doing?"

Bird: "Great!"

Awwwww, that was coooool! It's not the song, but that was him! Anyway, we're backed together again...for a group photo!

IMG_2222.jpg

Hey, Devine!

IMG_2224.jpg

IMG_2225.jpg

That's the Devine we're used to. Ok, Safari is up next, but not tonight! I'm tired!

[POST=45709819](next update)[/POST]

More great pictures! We didn't get to Animal Kingdom -- but we'll definitely hit it up next time (next year we hope). Can't wait to hear what you all thought of Fulton's. We really, really enjoyed it (twice!). LOL

Great update. Lots of pictures and light on the dialogue - just the way I like em'.

You got some beautiful AK pictures! Lots of great variety. Was Lilly in any of those pictures? She was still pretty small in December. I didn't look for her in June.

Nice groups shots too, So jealous of the low crowds. That's fantastic.

Poor duck!

Great update! Love all the photos.

So, you were too tired to ride the safari? :confused3
