I Knew You Would Eventually Get Tired of Disney World - April '12 TR - Completed 2/9

If I haven't said this already, my mind is basically a comedy/song lyric/movie quote card catalog with a permanent soundtrack playing in the background. Right now, it's "Be Our Guest", which is appropriate since the France pavilion is basically Beauty and the Beast land during the F&G festival. Also going on up there is the French Revolution segment of History of the World Part I.

"We the people of France..."

"Fraance."

"...Fraance."

And speaking of Fraance, it looks like Impressions du Fraance is starting right now. We know this because the CM stationed outside told us so, in perfect English, no less.

"We are so poor, we don't even have a language! Just this stupid accent!"

"She's right! She's right! We all talk like Maurice Chevalier! Aw haw haw!"

I love "Impressions". Emily says it's "scary", but I think she's just in the mood to do anything other than what we want to do. We all enjoy it, though, and then it's back out into the late April/Early May heat, which is not bad when compared to the late July/early August heat+humidity. Or so I'm told.

Ok, ok, I know what you're thinking. It's almost 1:00, we're in Epcot, and I haven't had a beer yet. I thought about getting a Kronenburg in France-

"Fraance."

...Fraance. But I didn't. And we're moving on soon, so the obvious choice is a Casa Beer from the Kiosk outside Moracco.

To clarify, I love beer, which shouldn't be news to anyone reading this. And the darker, the better. Actually, I'm really into IPAs right now, but I also differentiate dinner/nighttime beers from "outside in the heat beers". I've grown to love Pabst Blue Ribbon, which through extensive research, I have found to be the perfect balance between cheap and drinkable. I also found out after I started buying it that it's the trendy beer among the artsy/alternative kids, which is sort of funny when you consider that I am usually not associated in any way with the word "trendy". Then again, I saw a picture in a gossip mag a few years back of Drew Barrymore wearing the same Iron Maiden shirt I had in 8th grade ("it says 'Bethlehem' on the back of her shirt!"). I also saw a picture of the drummer for Blink 182 (Travis something-or-other) wearing the same Slayer shirt I had in 12th grade. He was wearing it on the red carpet at some awards show. Never mind the obvious question of, "why would you wear a Slayer shirt on the red carpet?"...the point is that I was in style before my time between the ages of 13-17 and didn't even know it. The other kids evidently didn't know it, either.

"Ok, what is your point in all of this? Aren't we supposed to be talking about Disney? And where are the pics?"

Um...actually, I have no clue what my point was. Let's change the subject back to this Casa Beer I just wrote about. As for pics, that will require me to open Photobucket, and that will take a whole 2 clicks, and I'm not sure I have the energy. I was just chasing my dog around a lake, so I'm tired.

"Alright, if you can't stay focused, why not just wait until later to write this update?"

Hush up. Ok, Photobucket's open now, and it took 5 clicks, not 2. See, I'm NOT lazy. So here are some Morocco pics:

IMG_1631.jpg

IMG_1632.jpg

Ok, kids, are you done coloring Duffys yet?

...

No. Ok, more pics.

IMG_1633.jpg

IMG_1634.jpg

Alright, there are ((number of Epcot countries) minus 2) to go, so don't you want to save some of that Duffy for them?

"No. We'll get another one."

Fair enough. But enough's enough. A few more pictures, then we're moving on.

IMG_1636.jpg

IMG_1638.jpg

Thanks, Dyl. Now get your ugly mug out of Em's glamour shot.

IMG_1639.jpg

Thanks! Now on to Japan.

It's no secret that Mitsukashi is my favorite store in WDW, and why wouldn't it be? Pokemon! Solar bobble heads! Assorted Japanese stuff! Oh, and candy! But not shiny candy. No, none of that candy for you...Miyuki isn't here today. Not sure when she'll be back...sometime later in the week.

In we go, and for the first time ever, Dylan does not want a stuffed Pokemon doll. I guess he IS ten, but I would've thought he wouldn't want one at nine, either. Anyway, he's looking for a Super Mario Bros. Green Mushroom shirt that reads "Get a Life"...which they have, but not in his size. But they do have Hello Kitty. Don't you want Hello Kitty?

Emily certainly does. But not today. We'll shop here again later in the week. For now, it's back outside for some more Duffy coloring and a random Japan pic.

IMG_1644.jpg

Hey, look - the drummers are drumming! The danger must be growing since the rowers keep on rowing, and they certainly aren't showing any signs that they are slowing...much like these drummers, who are FAN TAS TIC.

IMG_1642.jpg

Really cool! Dylan plays percussion in his school band, so he digs it, too. I grab a green iced tea, the kids get some kaki gori, and I finish this pavilion off for today with a "country-specific landmark with the Ball in the background" shot.

IMG_1646.jpg

Now, I KNOW there are snakes in those rocks. I saw a snake go down there one year during Illuminations. But they're hiding well today, unlike these two, who simply cannot hide their love for kaki gori:

IMG_1647.jpg

Normally, I would get a Japanese beer at this point, but I'm starting to think that drinking too much early does little more than ruin my appetite for dinner. Which is not yet, so let's spread our golden wings and fly to the next pavilion!

We walk past the big stage, where no former backup bassists from once-sorta-popular 1960s bands are play tonight. Certainly not Davey Jones, who has since passed on, but sadly not to his own locker.

The American Adventure show isn't happening just yet, so we let the kids color their Duffys while I watch the remnants of their kaki gori melt in the sun. Hey, Toy Story topes!

IMG_1648.jpg

Lotso is such a scumbag, but he takes a good picture, so I'll let his deplorable actions slide...this time. These two are a bit nicer.

IMG_1649.jpg

The two in the back, that is. The kids? Well, the jury's still out on them. This was taken by a Photopass photographer, by the way. We opted out of the Photopass CD this year, but it's great that they'll still take pics using your camera.

While this was all happening, Kristin had run back to France-

"Fraance."

Ok, enough already. Anyway, she was getting a Gran Mariner slushie, or as I like to call it, a complete pain to have to carry since it certainly doesn't sit nicely in the stroller's cup holder. Feel free to call it what YOU like. She's not back yet, so I'm starting to wonder. Eventually, she returned, and informs us that we were supposed to meet her somewhere that is not here. My bad. Oh well, show's starting - in we go!

Random, irrelevant question: how is it possible to have a game called, "Classic Battleship: Movie Edition"? Saw a commercial not long ago, and I'm stumped.

Meanwhile, inside, the Voices of Freedom (or whatever they're called) are singing some songs from my fourth-grade music class. Snide comment aside, they're actually really, really good. Which reminds me...every time I type the world "actually", I think to myself, "I use the word 'actually' far too much. I really should cut back." But it fits, so I don't. Inside, the show is a good one, though Kristin thinks they gloss over the darker parts of our history. I watch the closing song closely (how do you watch a song??), because I'm SURE that they're going to stick Adrian Peterson's picture in there one year. Well, they don't, but they do show Run DMC, so I guess that's worth something. Some may think it's easy to rap, but it's actually (there's that word again) sort of tricky to do what they did, and with their impecable timing, nonetheless.

In case you couldn't make out the lyrics, they're printed out on your way out the door.

IMG_1650.jpg

Meanwhiem in the present, the fire I'm sitting in front of is dying down, my mug is empty, and the mosquitoes are eating me up like kaki gori (topical!), so I can either

1) Go inside and finish this update

or

2) Go inside and see if I can get Dylan to play Magic with me before bed.

Sorry, guys...option 2 wins! On the bright side, I will probably also catch up on the other TRs I've been reading. I've recently discovered Disneyland Paris TRs and haven't been able to pull away from them, but tonight's the night I come back stateside and get back to reading the others.

I'll be back again soon with three more countries, a bit of DISboards controversy, and a meal I hope I soon forget. Good night!

[POST=45255052](next update)[/POST]

OK, all caught up on this most recent trip report. What a fun read!
I sure hope you guys don't skip WDW next year -- we want another trip report from you! :)

I know how you feel about returning to EPCOT during the Flower & Garden Festival each year .... we always go to WDW in October and EPCOT wouldn't be the same for us without the Food & Wine Festival.

(BTW, you get cool points from my DD since you mentioned Blink 182 in your trip report. :cool2:)

Great update, I love Mitsukoshi too, they have some really cool things in there. Is that Kaki Gori a snack credit? I wasn't sure when I was there last, I didn't think I saw that little icon on the sign.

I love the American Adventure show. I think it's funny how people forget how Lotso was bad in the movie. I kind of wished that they redeemed him at the end, but I guess I'm just a sap, LOL! :)

Is there something you'd like to share with the rest of us, Amazing Larry?

ohemgee, I say this all the time. :thumbsup2 LOVE THIS MOVIE. :woohoo:

Love your TR too. I am so glad you are doing another one--your one from last year was hysterical. I think you have inspired me to write one for the trip we just took, too. That is, if I can get over my Trip Report Cold Feet and get started. :rotfl:

With that said, Day 6 was a day that could've had a creative chapter title. Call it, "Watch Your Appetite!", or "The Day it All Fell Apart". I could probably think of some more, but I'd rather talk about the day itself. And it starts...

Can't wait.

As I mentioned before, an ill-timed rip and Hoop Dee Doo Fried Chicken and Rib Grease (tm) have me down to a critically low level in shorts. Yes, I can do laundry at the resort. But I don't want to. When we go back, I fall asleep. That's just how it works.

We usually do laundry during pool time.

Nothing good on the shorts front, though, and that's scary, since MouseGear is pretty much the second best clothing stores in WDW, next to World of Disney.

Agreed!

In we go. This is one of the few rides that makes me nervous, because I know how I am with spinning. The spinning's not as bad as, say, a Scrambler, though, and I like the intense ride much better than the tamer Green Team version.

Still need to try the orange team. My two chickens won't hear of it.

Chimps was a FABULOUS movie. Ten stars. Incredible. See it.

Good to know.

"Fraance."

"...Fraance."[/I]

For some reason this reminded me of that scene in Better of Dead when the mother had the French dinner for the neighbors' exchange student. "Frawnch bread, Frawnch dressing, Frawnch fries and to drink...Perooo!"

Ok, kids, are you done coloring Duffys yet?

That takes forever, doesn't it?

It's no secret that Mitsukashi is my favorite store in WDW, and why wouldn't it be?

Such a fun store!

Lotso is such a scumbag, but he takes a good picture, so I'll let his deplorable actions slide...this time. These two are a bit nicer.

I loved that topiary.

I'll be back again soon with three more countries, a bit of DISboards controversy, and a meal I hope I soon forget. Good night!

Can't wait!

Great updates!

Jon, I just wanted to let you know that although I've not posted, I am still reading. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer and our world has been turned upside down with dealing with the situation and my father-in-law.

I continue to love the updates and all your photos. I'll try to respond with more detail on the next update.

:(

Our hearts go out to you and your family. Please take care. Focus on the important stuff, which this Trip Report most certainly is not.

OK, all caught up on this most recent trip report. What a fun read!
I sure hope you guys don't skip WDW next year -- we want another trip report from you! :)

I'm working on it! Oh, and thanks!

(BTW, you get cool points from my DD since you mentioned Blink 182 in your trip report. :cool2:)

Kristin was always more of a Blink fan than I was, but they do have some great stuff out there. Their acoustic song, "You (Messed) Up My Life" is one of my favorite songs, ever. It moves me :) we saw them live about 12-13 years ago, and they put on a heck of a show.

Is that Kaki Gori a snack credit? I wasn't sure when I was there last, I didn't think I saw that little icon on the sign.

It is.

I think it's funny how people forget how Lotso was bad in the movie. I kind of wished that they redeemed him at the end, but I guess I'm just a sap, LOL! :)

I'm just the opposite. I always like it when movies don't do what you think they would do. I probably would've cheered if Buzz would've ended up being a bad guy in the end ;)

ohemgee, I say this all the time. :thumbsup2 LOVE THIS MOVIE. :woohoo:

It's wonderful! I get so many of my often-used quotes out of that one. Another is, "Great so far, Pee Wee...action packed!" P.W.'s name is outside the Great Movie Ride, btw. Got a pic of it last year.

I think you have inspired me to write one for the trip we just took, too. That is, if I can get over my Trip Report Cold Feet and get started. :rotfl:

Do it! It's a lot of fun. It's a lot of work, but fun work.

We usually do laundry during pool time.

Hmmm, that's a good idea. We got away with not having to do laundry (the proper way - more on that later), but for the future, it may be what we do, if necessary.

Still need to try the orange team. My two chickens won't hear of it.

Bribe 'em!

For some reason this reminded me of that scene in Better of Dead when the mother had the French dinner for the neighbors' exchange student. "Frawnch bread, Frawnch dressing, Frawnch fries and to drink...Perooo!"

I need to see that one again! The only thing I remember about it is Booger from Revenge of the Nerds falling into a garbage truck or something. I'm sure there's much more to the movie than that :)

That takes forever, doesn't it?

It does. There are only so many scaled replicas of the Eiffel Tower and Metro Map coffee mugs I can look at before I start to get bored.

Yes, I've been slacking on updating this TR. No, I won't get any updates posted tonight. Hopefully tomorrow, though. I could use another Casa Beer!

DISboards controversy- Please Explain...

KatMark- Thoughts go out to you and your family. My Grandfather recently died because of lung problems, so I understand.

Great updates! I love all your World Showcase photos. I need to make a point to schedule time there for our next trip, we have really missed a lot in that area.

I didn't realize there were that many playgrounds. Another clue that we might need to slow down and take in a few other things along the way on our next trip. My kids would love them!

Great family picture at Epcot! Looking forward to hearing more.

DISboards controversy- Please Explain...

It's coming!

Great updates! I love all your World Showcase photos. I need to make a point to schedule time there for our next trip, we have really missed a lot in that area.

My favorite part of WDW.

I didn't realize there were that many playgrounds. Another clue that we might need to slow down and take in a few other things along the way on our next trip. My kids would love them!

It gives them a break. I don't know from what, because they're basically playing all day, but a break nonetheless!

In other sad news, I found out that there are NO Minnesota Vikings Vinylmations. They've only made certain teams, and the Purple aren't one of them. Booo!!!

Ok, on with the updates.

Italy is next. Not much here as far as shopping goes for me, and I'll pass on a Moretti. The kids want to do the Kidcot station, though, and I like the area.

IMG_1656.jpg

IMG_1657.jpg

I eye up the restaurants, but nothing is that thrilling to me. I have a hard time getting excited for Italian, since we have pasta a whole lot at home.

Stereotypical Italian tomfoolery is on display here, as well...

IMG_1659.jpg

...now back to the pictures! It's sort of sad that this pavilion doesn't do much for me beyond the photo ops, but what photo ops they are!

IMG_1660.jpg

Over to the water for the standard "it looks like you're holding the Ball" shots.

IMG_1661.jpg

IMG_1662.jpg

IMG_1663.jpg

A PhotoPass photographer spots us and offers to take a few shots of us. Here's one.

IMG_1666.jpg

Look at me, reppin' the Golden Bears! KU!

Ok, Germany's on deck.

Unlike Italy, there is a lot in Germany for me to like. The music. The food. The beer. The candy. The hats.

IMG_1673.jpg

IMG_1674.jpg

IMG_1675.jpg

I'm half German, but don't like to advertise it because of my "nazi skinheads stole my heritage from me" hang-up. I'm bascially 100% American, anyway. Not really any European culture in me whatsoever, unless you count the European trip reports I'm reading. Those count, right?

Outside, Kristin hits up Glaz und Porcelain to check out the glaz und porcelain. She is in the market for an engraved glass with Emily's name on it. Emily would like that, too.

Meanwhile, I've noticed that I don't have the backpack. Kristin doesn't either? What the-?

Oh, I probably left it back in Italy when we were getting our pictures taken. Off I went, and there it was. The PhotoPass photographer ensures me he watched it while we were gone, and I thank him, but I really never felt it was in any danger. I'm probably naive, but I tend to think that you can leave anything anywhere in Disney World, and no one will steal it. We've left merch in the stroller, and we've never had a problem. Another great thing about WDW, even if it's mostly fabricated in my mind.

Back to Germany, and it's time for some beer and wine. The line outside is pretty long, and I'm going inside to check for "better" beers anyway...outside has a Pilsner and an Oktoberfest, and I'm looking for a Hefeweizen or something dark. One time I found Spaten Optimator inside (not in the Biergarten, but in the counter service place, which I don't feel like looking up the name for right now). The CM was apologetic, but I ensured her that was a very good thing.

Same beer inside, but it's 50 cents cheaper. And there's no line. I get an Oktoberfest...but I secretly miss the Franzeskaner Hefeweizen. It's the perfect "Epcot beer", IMO. But this will do.

I walk over to the other line to see if the beers are the same size...they are. So 50 cents cheaper and no line, about 50 feet away. I can't keep this to myself! I spot a guy by himself near the back of the line, and he can't believe the good news. The rival factions shout their battle cries:

Cheaper beer!

Less wait!

Cheaper beer!

Less wait!

Meanwhile, someone's peanut butter has gotten into my chocolate! Please ignore the accusations of the opposite. Anyway, he heads inside, and I imagine that the line inside has grown exponentially since I was in there, and that I'm really doing this guy a disservice. Man, I sure hope not!

Alright, it's almost time to go line up for Dinner, so off to Norway we go!

...by way of China, and one quick pic.

IMG_1677.jpg

Dinner is at Akershus tonight, which we feel gets you the most Princess for your Dining Plan buck. Better interaction than the Castle, and better food, if you ask me. I am actually part Norwegian by way of favorite football team, so this pavilion is special to me. I'm almost drawn to it more than Germany. Quite possibly, I am.

Well, our German drinks are empty, so I get us some Norwegian replacements. There's an odd bottle on the cart, and the Norseman tells me that it's a potato-based alcohol. You do shots of it. No thanks, I'll pass. Trying to pace myself here, and shots and pacing myself are not the best of friends.

I return to the line, drinks in hand. I really hate carrying wine back, because it seems like I lose half the glass on the way back. The casino in our town gives you wine in plastic cups, like the beer, but they give you so much you end up drinking it like beer, and as you may know, drinking wine like beer and pacing myself are not the best of friends. But this is not my wine, and this is certainly not that casino.

The people in line around us all seem to be from Eastern PA. In fact, I'm seeing a lot of people with Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers gear on. They do like to show their colors in Philly.

Our Royal Family is called in, and Emily gets round one of Princess Mayhem.

IMG_1680.jpg

IMG_1685.jpg

It's to our seats now, where I order another Carlsberg, and Kristin gets another wine. We're in a room we've never been in, to the right of the cold bar this time.

Drink orders now taken, our server is replaced by this Beauty:

IMG_1687.jpg

Up to the cold bar we go, where I accept my mission of telling EVERYONE in a 12 mile radius how good the brown goat cheese is. Seriously, if you've never had it, you need to have it. I don't know the name, but "Norwegian Brown Goat Cheese" sounds appropriate to me. Here's my plate:

IMG_1689.jpg

Note the NBGT in the upper left. Doesn't that look good? Cinderella certainly thinks so.

IMG_1691.jpg

Emily certainly likes her.

IMG_1695.jpg

Soon after, an announcement is made. All Princesses in the Royal Banquet Hall are invited to take place in a Princess Processional (tm)! Of course, ours is all in.

IMG_1696.jpg

...and it starts. There's a song for it, too. Like the "Castle Party" song and others like it, you can probably improvise the lyrics to this song. I don't recall what they were, but I can imagine it went something like this:

A Princess Processional...
A processional for you and for me...
The magic, love, and Princess merchandi-I mean gowns...
A Princess processional for all the world to see...

Ariel knows where the camera is.

IMG_1698.jpg

The processional ends, and the food arrives. But first, group photo!

IMG_1711.jpg

IMG_1712.jpg

I'm drawing a blank here on Kristin's - it's either the Grilled Pork Tenderloin or Seared Herb-dusted Beef Tips. It looks more tippy to me...hopefully Kristin will chime in and clear this up!

IMG_1714.jpg

Yep, definitely the tips. Dylan and I got the Traditional Kjottkake, which he was more than happy to order for the name alone. It looked like this:

IMG_1713.jpg

Alright, Dyl...go to town! But first, a Traditional Kjottkake-themed picture.

IMG_1715.jpg

Ok, let's eat!

So what's the verdict, Dylan?

"I don't really like it."

And there it is. Those 5 words (or 6 - do contractions count as 1 or 2?) that can set the atmosphere for the entire meal. Rather than enjoying our own meals, we will be forced to worry about the fact that this kid will take 20 minutes to eat two bites, and little bites at that. This is not going to be fun.

But you know what are fun? Princess pictures!

IMG_1704.jpg

IMG_1708.jpg

Alright, back to the food. Dylan is not eathing ANYTHING, and Kristin is NOT happy. In fact, her patience is all but gone.

Ok, it's completely gone. Kristin and Dylan can be like oil and water some times, and his eating is the perfect way to set it all ablaze. I really don't understand the kid, because he CAN eat better and faster. He has, many times. But when he doesn't want to, he doesn't want to. We're not asking a lot of him, really. Just an effort.

Somewhere along the line, as tends to happen, Kristin and I end up disagreeing about him in some regard, and the tension shifts. Alright, I'm no longer having fun anymore. Let's get out of here.

But first, dessert!

IMG_1716.jpg

IMG_1717.jpg

I'm really understating the situation right now, because it's probably best for everyone involved. We're really not getting along at this point, to the extent that I'm ready to just go back to CSR. We got Maelstrom FPs earlier, though, so we might as well not waste them.

I love this ride - especially the troll parts. If you like them, too, I can't recommend the movie "Troll Hunter" enough. I think it's Norwegian, but it's subtitled in English, and it's about...well, a troll hunter. It's on Netflix. I don't know what possessed me to watch it, but I did, and I LOVED it. My main criteria for how I'd feel about it was how the trolls looked (that can really kill a movie, y'know), and they looked right out of the Maelstrom. Exact. Fantastic.

But back to our story, where I really didn't enjoy it this time because of what's going on. We can both be pretty stubborn people. Not stubborn enough to resist troll pics, though.

IMG_1720.jpg

IMG_1721.jpg

Ok, Norway down, outside we go, with me tailing behind. As I enter the main walk, I pass an unusually large group of ECV riders. And they're all young, too. Huh?

A girl, probably in her early twenties, swings her vehicle around the pack. It doesn't even come close to me, but since I'm a bit ticked to begin with, I'm not thinking too highly of this group right now.

I notice they're all wearing the same shirt...it reads, "Watch Your Ankles: The Sequel", and then something about getting hammered and riding around World Showcase. But I paraphrase.

"Hey, 'Watch Your Ankles'! I've heard of them!

Yes, you have. But let's move on for now.

I catch up to the others and ask Kristin if she saw them. She's not really annoyed by them at all. Interesting. Look, some of them are coming this way!

IMG_1722.jpg

They're in the back, with the blue t-shirts. This shot really doesn't do them any justice, because there were a lot more of them than this.

Two of the guys randomly do handstands in front of the China pavilion, so I'm assuming they're cheerleaders. Didn't the cheerleaders go home? The one guy, very vocally, grabs one of those Chinese yoyo things and begins to toss it around. He's pretty good, actually. They're still buffoons, if you ask me, though.

They move on, and Dylan grabs what he came for.

IMG_1723.jpg

Ok, one more pic of the China pavilion...

"Wait, that story stinks! Is that all there was to say about the 'Watch Your Ankles' people?"

Um, actually, no. There's a lot more. That night, I looked on the DIS to see if I could find out more about these people. Nothing. However, the next night, I stumbled upon a thread called "Most disgusting thing I have ever seen at WDW". Hey, those are the guys!

You can read the thread yourself if you haven't already (it even includes some of my expert insight), but I'll summarize it for you. Some people found them to be extremely offensive. It sparked a debate on the DIS, with some people saying there were an outrage, so saying it's no big deal, some asking how anyone knows for sure they didn't need the ECVs (my favorite, in light of the handstands), and probably a couple other viewpoints in there as well. My position on them is evolving - I hated them at first, but Kristin convinced me they were just trying to have fun. Of course, if it was more than that, I'm more than willing to dislike them again.

Anyway, here's that China pic:

IMG_1724.jpg

Chapter over, and that's a night. The WYA crew is on the bus with us home, and from the sound of it, they may be cheerleader trainers. There IS a convention of just that at CSR at some point. From what they're saying, they're going out when they get back. Now that I'm older, I've realized it's not that I can't go out partying all night like I used to, it's that I know better than to do it.

Back to the room, and I'm more than happy to put this day behind us. It started well enough, but ended with such a crash that it's not boding well for my "save the Disney vacations!" campaign. We'll see if tomorrow's any better.

[POST=45321965](next update)[/POST]

Woohoo for representing K-Town! :thumbsup2 Back in the day, Shorty's and the K-Town Pub were some of our favorite bars :goodvibes Sorry your day ended on a sour note. Been there, not fun. Here's to a brand new day!

Boo, a bad ending to a Disney day. I hope Day #7 was better for you guys.

And , wow, the ECV renters. I don't even know what to say about that. People sure come up with some crazy...ok, dumb, ideas!!

This update brought back memories of one of our EPCOT days from several years ago when Emily was younger. It started out really bad and never got any better - and it was all centered around the meals. We had a family blow out too.

The day started with breakfast at Sunshine Seasons where Emily proceeded to choke on a piece of bacon. I have an intense fear of choking (me or anyone else!) and that experience just had me out of sorts for the rest of the day. Emily was fine but it was a very scary experience.

Then we went to lunch at Coral Reef. I think we turned invisible after we sat at our table because a waiter never came. We waited and waited and even asked another server but a waiter never came to wait on us so we walked out. It was sad and disappointing because Coral Reef is one my DH's favorite Disney restaurants (atmosphere, not food).

Then lastly was dinner at LeCellier. Emily is a picky eater too. She ordered the prime rib, which she loves, but when it was brought to the table it had horseradish sauce drizzled on it. She didn't want to eat it. Normally we would have been more easy going about it but our nerves were frayed and we all blew up at each other. The walk out of the park that night wasn't the normal "floating on air, we are in Disney" experience but rather a silent, seething march out of the park usually with DH several feet ahead of us. Ugh, it makes me sad to think back about it now.

But, we've had many, many good Disney days - and meals! - since then. And look forward to many more! :)

Sorry, didn't mean to type that much.....

Looking forward to the rest of your report!
