Brian's team won the President's Cup Region I tournament in NY yesterday. They won 1 to 0 in overtime! They are U17 and will be competing in the national tournament in Tennessee July 8 - 11th! :woohoo::cheer2::rotfl: I forget the name of the town - something with a M. It appears to be a hr or so south of Nashville, TN. The tentative plan is to charter a bus for the team. The boys have never participated in a national tournament, so this is pretty special for them to plays teams from all over the country!

I have never been to TN, so I would love to go. I wish I could make a real vacation of it. I would love to visit Nashville. I would also love to visit the Great Smokey mtns. We will see what happens! I did really well driving to NY and back, so maybe I can drive that far - 10 hrs I think!

BTW - I waved to you Ellen while I was on the GS Parkway - which, by the way, is now fabulous due to the tool booth revisions and more lanes. Wow! - huge improvement compared to 5 or 6 yrs ago!

Nicholas' team won Division 2 Blue Grey Tournament in Gettysburg, Pa. They are U15. :woohoo::cheer2::woohoo:

Now I can honestly say that my kids have NEVER, EVER won an entire tournament over Memorial Day weekend. So after traveling every memorial day for as long as I can remember, we finally have a double win!

I'll try to post some soccer photos once I get them uploaded to photobucket. They are extremely time consuming to edit so patience please!

In Trip news - I really hope to get my next update up soon. Sorry for the delay!

Congrats on your son wining the tournament. When my dd's Cheer Team took the State Championships in NJ it was pretty amazing and emotional!:cool1:

I have to comment that those of us who live in NJ think the Parkway is a nightmare!! We may have toll both changes and the new EZ pass lanes but there is soooo much darn construction :headache: and constant lanes being closed  that you dread the thought of going anywhere! Especially when you live "down the shore" as the tourists call it - you better have all your shopping done before the summer/holiday weekends role around because those dam* bennies are everywhere!:scared1:

BTW amazing TR and fabulous Pictures! I can't wait for more!!

Congrats to you and your boys, that's pretty cool that they both won! :cheer2:

Congrats on the soccer win! What great news! I hope you're able to make a mini vacation out of it! :thumbsup2

Whoo hoo! Must have been a good soccer karma weekend, Kendall's new club U15 team won their tournament too!

Her old team made it to the Region IV Presidents Cup back in 08 but to win your region, and go onto nationals, right before college... WOW! That is huge.

about as good as it gets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the double wins, how incredibly exciting!!!!!!!!!

Wow ......that is amazing soccer karma! Congrats to Kendall! It's pretty cool to be going to the nationals. It's funny because our Delaware Youth Soccer Association really wanted to send a U17 and any of the teams could have gone (cause we all play state cup), but we took them up on the offer. Our state tournament is not over yet so this tournament actually occurred (Region 1) before the state cup is over. All the other regions have yet to play. It is going to be so cool to play some national teams. Really cool. Our win and our semi-final win were both in OT. A bit of a nail bitter!

:rotfl2: sorry - I think this comment is so funny! I didn't want to get on the parkway. I actually skipped it on the way up since I wasn't going to get to meet Ellen. But it was soooooooo much better on the way home. I can see where rush hour would be very messy, but I did love those high speed easy pass lanes.

Dam* bennies - love it - saw plenty on the road this weekend!

When I last left off, many moons ago, we had just finished dinner at R&C and were headed towards Christine's private entrance to wind our way back to the BC.

It was a lovely evening and I wasn't quite ready to go back to the villa. As we were walking back, who should we run in to but Ellen, Kara, and Joan. They had just returned from their meal at Saana and they were headed over to the Boardwalk area for a drink or two. We chatted for awhile and Kara told us how much she loved Florida and how much she was going to miss it. I felt so bad for her. It must be hard to love a place that you have to leave, especially when WDW is practically in your backyard. After we chatted for a bit, the Dismoms departed and Cathy and I went off to poke around the BC. Plus - blasphemy- I know - but I really wasn't sure where Beaches & Cream was and I wanted to find it. Obviously too full for the kitchen sink, we perused the menu and I made a mental note that I WILL return during a future trip.

I have only seen a small portion of SAB, so it was nice to see it in its entirety. I didn't realize how expansive this amazing pool was. I loved how it completely borders both resorts. SAB was vacant - seriously - there was NO ONE in the pool. I know that Ellen had mentioned a couple previous bio alerts, but it couldn't have scared that many people away for that long. I just don't think there were that many people staying at the BC. WL was teeming with people, but the BC and YC were eerily quiet!

Here are some pics I took while exploring.......

So many rules - so few people to read them:

Once we reached the Yacht club it was obvious that this CM needed a little business:

The Yachtsmen..... You are on my list......

Beautiful lobby flowers:

I loved the Yacht club. What a cool place. I would love to stay there someday. This is the first time I ever was in the YC and I was very impressed. Upscale, conservative but not stuffy, and very quiet. I am sure Cynthia is going to have an awesome time there.

Cathy and I had been gone for awhile when we decided we better tell the boys were we had wondered off to. Of course, neither guy answered their phone or text messages. So, back we trudged to the BC. I kept wishing I could just stay put. Just give me a blanket and a pillow. I would happily sleep on one of the lounge chairs at SAB.

Here are a few more pics before we left the BC. Oh...and the boys....they were falling asleep in the lobby! :rolleyes1

I know I am not the only one who loves this little hallway at the BC:

This cool chair was in the lobby of the BC.....

We had an uneventful drive back to the WL. It was time to hit the hay because Day 3 was on the horizon.

Up next.....revenge of the Evil D, Epcot, Le Cellier, and Cirque Du soliel!

I am late in congratulating the boys on their big wins!!

Oh, those lobby flowers are so pretty! I'm actually looking forward to all those neat little details! Beautiful!!

I would love the chance to explore in the evenings. You took great night time pictures.

I love these light fixtures! Y&C is so pretty!

... but how strange that no one was at SAB! I'd be in that pool every day!

The best filet mignon I ever had was at the Yachtsman Steakhouse... yum!

Can't wait to see how you liked Cirque!

Kathy

SAB better rest up because my girls plan to spend three full days in the water there! Love the nightime pictures of that pretty area!

Congrats on the soccer champs!

That's fabulous that BOTH of them won!! Would have been kind of hard if only one had-- but WONDERFUL that didn't happen!

Sounds like a lovely evening! All of you pictures are so beautiful! You're rocking the DSLR!

What a neat little photo jaunt around the Yacht and Beach Club! Why am I not surprised that Denny and Chuck were falling asleep in the lobby and not answering their phones?

What do you mean "Revenge of the Evil D"??? This cannot be good! :scared:

Sounds like a great evening! Your pictures are lovely! I love that area and Beach Club is tops on my "someday" list! :)

You are not the only one......I love that hallway at BC near Cape May Cafe too!

Thanks for the wonderful Y&BC pics. Looks like SAB was closed. They do close at 8:00 PM some evenings.

I bet! We won ours in PK's...not what you want but oh is it nice to have a killer goalie again! Very cool that you got to go to the Region 1, it seems wierd to me that State Cups aren't yet over but it looks like the Region 1 tourney is a few weeks before the rest, our region IV isn't for another couple of weeks. We got in on a wild card 2 years ago as we came in 2nd on the state cup. It was a good experience for the girls but they got killed by the CA teams at regionals which is how it usually goes. A VERY cool soccer note though that I don't think I told you. One of my Hawaii cousin's has a daughter who is U14 on a HI team. They were also at Regionals 2 years ago but since I wasn't there, the girls didn't meet.

Just so happens her team is playing a tournament here the weekend of my sisters wedding so the whole gang is coming and hitting the wedding. We (my cousin, my favorite cousin by the way who looks like my twin) and I arranged a scrimmage between the 2 teams (K's and her Hawaii cousin she's never met) the night before the wedding. And then K's team is also playing in the same tournament that weekend. The girls won't play each other as they are different age brackets but hopefully I'll get a lot of soccer and cousin time! I am so excited for it!

I can only wish for an empty pool in august but I know that won't happen. I'm a bit freaked out by the recent crowd levels I am seeing for our dates which "should" be mostly after the peak season. Darn free dining. :rotfl:

I can't wait to see the YC!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited to stay there.

What a fun stroll
