I keep getting popups - any advice?

I keep getting the same pop up ads over and over the last few days. I've tried running Spyware Doctor, MSN's Spy Sweeper and the Malwarebytes Anti-malware I saw some DISers discussing once. All three programs found stuff but so far nothing is stopping these ads.

Anything else I could try? I saw someone posting that it's wise to run the anti-malware in Safe Mode. Could that help? I also saw that someone restored back to a previous date and somehow got rid of their problem that way.

Grrrr.... I'm ready to pitch this PC out the window.

Is it the antivirus pro pop ups? I have a thread about that around somewhere. I've followed most of the advice so far and the programs aren't finding anything.

I hope to be able to do this for free. Between my husband and me, we should be able to wipe out a virus or whatever it is.

Google or Yahoo Toolbar should help with some pop-ups. For malicious pop-ups, we run Ad-Aware.

I run both Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy.

I forgot to mention that I have all popup blockers on and this thing pops up even if the computer is idle with no windows open. It's definitely embedded.

I could try Ad-aware and Spybot. That'll be the fourth and fifth adware programs but it's worth a try.

I read about the antivirus pro pop up problem. That one is nasty!!!

Mine are ads for websites, mostly one for some kind of entertainment thing.
