I just saw racism in action (on television)

Have you watched reality shows before this one? Supposed adults generally act like total fools while the camera is rolling - especially when it's a "dating" show. Chances of something being broken, thrown, rolled on in a fistfight, are substantially higher on these types of shows than say - the Apprentice. Though Joan and Annie... :rotfl:

How is is racist to tell a group of men to please be respectful of the facilities?

I can't help but wonder if the racism isn't in the question itself. Believe it or not, white people do also get asked to behave, get yelled at and get reprimanded by business owners. Also, they are expected to leave a security deposit because they are equally likely to misbehave and are equally expected to be held accountable if they do. The whole thing has got nothing to do with ethnicity and I find the quiz into the event more disturbing than the event itself.

Not seeing any racism at all there....

Sorry, but I don't see that as racism.

As I read your post, I was expecting you to say Omarosa sent the "white guy" home. THAT would be racism!

A little OT, but did these guys know that Omarosa is the person they are vying for the attention of? :scared1: She is horrible!:rotfl:

See, now I wouldn't thisnk it was racist to send the white guy home if she wasn't attracted to him:confused3

I totally agree on Omarosa...she is awful!!

Come on folks, its the in thing to do these days = look for things to scream racism about.

You don't really have to "look" that hard to find racism. :confused3

That being said, I don't see the issue in the OP as being racist and I agree with JerseyJanice.

That's what I was thinking, too. How is it racist if someone isn't attracted to someone?

And I can see what the OP was wondering; if the security people said it to these men simply because they are of a certain race and he feels that maybe they'll cause problems that another group would not, but there's just no way to know if that's what was behind it.

I'd say sensitive. If the security guard had seen any "reality" show in the past several years, he'd know that black, white, or yellow, the possibility of trashing a place for the cameras would be pretty high.

Exactly.

Not racist at all.

But, I fully expect Omarosa to do or say something racist. As I recall from her Apprentice appearance, she eventually will.

Did anyone see Omorosa (from The Apprentice) has a dating show on the cable channel TV One. Donald Trump set her up with about 15 eligible bachelors (all African American and 1 white guy). The bachelors are living in one of Trump's penthouses in Las Vegas.

At the start of the progrm, all the men (who are professional, all-Christian men, who are made up of lawyers, singers, entrepeneurs, etc.) are told by head of security that if they want to use the facilities in the hotel (gym, bar, etc.) that they are not to mess up the place while they are there. I mean, who says things like that to hotel guests? Granted they are not guests but they are essentially on a TV dating show employed by Trump.

Wow, that's crazy...or am I sensitive?

I see what you said as way more racist than what the security guard said. Instead of just saying there were 15 eligible bachelors, you pointed out that all were african american and 1 white guy. No need to point out their "color" at all.

There's nothing wrong with NY pointing out their color.

People are different in many ways, including their shades of skin.

It's when you attribute stereotypes to those skin shades that it becomes a problem. NY thought someone may have been. So what? :confused3

One of the most ignorant things that I've seen posted is that we've all evolved into a "colorblind" society and that skin color shouldn't be acknowledged. The way to overcome racism and stereotyping isn't by ignoring skin color altogether.

ITA :thumbsup2

with that said I don't see racism here either.

I do believe that one day we all be the same color anyway. :goodvibes

I don't agree with her post, but what she said wasn't racist. You can't discuss racism without discussing race.

I would say it is racist if he were sent home because she doesn't *like* him -because he is white. She obviously wouldn't know him well enough to know whether she likes him or not based on his personality/their interactions.

Omarosa= (where is the puking smiley?!) - guess her PR people are getting the image they want of her out there - but anytime I've seen her on tv, even on Entertainment Tonight or whatever, she is just a witch!

That's not true either. She may just be attracted to black men. That is not racist, that's a preference.

People throw this word out too easily, including the OP. Racism is a horrible very serious issue. And yes, it does happen everyday. But when people use the word inappropriately, it does not help the issue at all (think the boy who cried wolf).

When someone is racist, they think that the races are different and that some are superior and others are inferior.

In regards to the OP, no it's not racism. It's protecting your property from a large group of guys that have no stake in the hotel and maintaining it properly.

What I meant by my post is how does she get racism out of what the guard says, and then describes people by their color. Neither are racist comments, but her comments would be seen as racist before the guards comments. Does that make sense?

Sorry if it does not - it has been one of those days.:lmao:

I'm sorry... you lost me when you mentioned that all of the guys were Christian. Why would Christian boys want to date the devil???
