I just joined the car #4 crowd

Rick-

You didn't respond to my post. I'm awaiting your stance on that.

And one more point. Europa didn't start the name calling. You took a statement and twisted it.

Let's see how you like this:

If you don't like the level of discussion here, don't come here.

Now obviously that statement is absurd....but no more absurd that telling someone that if they don't like the way things are run at WDW to not go.

Everyone is entitled to their views. If someone calls you on one of your posts

Maybe a discussion board isn't your thing. Or if you want nothing but homogeneous views, try laughingplace or wdwmagic's boards.

(((EDIT: Rick Apparently we were posting at the same time and I now see your response. I'll leave this with the edit giving you credit for at least seeing the "error of your ways". :))))

Don't like our Customer service then don't come back. Eisner's plan is working he is successfully dumbing down the Disney customer where they will only expect Disney to be as good as the other guy.

Your words, but perhaps I took it wrong.

Smile and warm hug to all. I am glad the shouting match ended before they had to close the thread.

I object to the idea that the car one philosophy is a take it or leave it. My view of car one is someone who believes in the magic so strongly that Disney can do no wrong. There is a difference in attitude; it isn't very Disneylike to say take it or leave it, more to the point it should be "I understand you may have some problems with it, but isn't the magic wonderful anyway?"

Car 1'ers have in the past resorted to the "take it or leave it" attitude once their defense runs out.

Noone can argue that straws are falling at WDW. Some guests (such as articman...who I'm not so sure will be a permanant member of car 4) have had a straw fall and break their back. Some haven't....yet.

Yet the general theme of the people opposing articman's stance was

  • Typhoon's open. Just be happy you have that.
  • Who wants to go to a waterpark in the winter anyway!
  • Just get over it!
  • It you don't like it, don't go anymore. Shorter lines for me.

The general theme of those types of statements is if you don't like what is given, shut up or don't go.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see any other interpretation to those statements.

The main problem with our philosophies is car 1ers look at it from a personal standpoint (I still have magical visits, so therefore the company must be doing something). Car 3 ers still have fun (as you alluded to your last post) when they're there, but can still look at the general business decisions being made and see how they can and are affecting not only themselves, but other guests.

OK, I guess I never thought of it that way; I guess I am also too polite to be in car 1;).

It is a shame, I guess I will stay in car 1 for the view.... But I do ocassionaly move back for a while

I just don't want to think that people I share a passion with can be so rude.:(

:bounce:

I have stated this a few times before, but I still wonder if some of the folks on this site would get into fist fights if they were to meet somewhere, judging by the posts they put out.

Mitros...

The funny thing is in the past from what has been reported here, the DISMEETS have been pretty benign and actually coordial and fun (I've yet to coordinate my schedule with the meets).

For the most part, the regulars bicker a little but it's always remained somewhat civilized. It's the recent influx of posters from other disboards who seem to take things personally.

Mitros, as long as we meet in Disney everything is fine, because even the grumpies get suckered in to being happy while they are there.

I wouldn't say that people are opposing articman's stance. The things I saw to him were it's a shame but you'll get over it because there are other things to do, including another water park, and even though we would all like everything to be open every time we visit it isn't going to happen, and we have all made a visit when something was down for rehab, and this may be a good thing for the majority of people who want to go to water parks when it isn't winter and will appreciate the new stuff, and though it is a shame that you were basing your trip on what has been scheduled in past years, some of us have learned not to go by that, and by the way you now have 7 months of advance notice to plan by.

Car 3 ers still have fun (as you alluded to your last post) when they're there, but can still look at the general business decisions being made and see how they can and are affecting not only themselves, but other guests.

This is where you guys always seem to lose me.

You take a person who has a bad experience and add it to a "straw" philosophy implying that it constitutes more than one person's opinion but rather the general consensus because it basically supports your feelings regarding the company.

You then take someone else's position which states they are fine and equally satisfied and still going to Disney and dismiss it as lacking in substance or as being "purely personal" because it does not address the problems you feel are blatantly obvious.

Well how the hell can you say that one persons negative experience means disney is failing its guests without saying that another persons positive experience is disney satisfying its guests?

If you throw the attendance line at me I'm going to start banging my head against the keyboard. It just doesn't fly.

Europa, it is actually over 7 months! Honestly how long in advance does someone need?? If you can't make an alternate plan in over 7 months I don't know what to tell you. That is enough for a home resort right there. I think over 7 months notice of what will be rehabbed is pretty good - I'll roll my eyes back at you

You know perfectly well that you can no longer plan 7 months ahead for Disney. Attractions seem to close on a whim. Fireworks ,parades and hours are only released at most 3-4 weeks ahead of time and usually change after that. Entire hotels close and guest are given a take it or leave it option. You also know very well that the same line will be uttered then "Get over it".

So  :smooth:

***"Attractions seem to close on a whim."***
***"Entire hotels close and guest are given a take it or leave it option."***

Can you give me an example of a ride closing on a "whim" ? Cause with the exception of a sudden mechanical failure I imagine all rehab's are planned, expensed, and announced well in advance.

As for hotels closing, well in recent history they closed CBR and POFQ. While I don't recall what was done for CBR guests, I read several posts where guests that were already booked at POFQ were given some pretty serious up-graded accomodations. Hardly what I'd call take-it-or-leave-it.

Space Mountain at DL?

Oh yeah, being moved to a different Moderate is a SERIOUS upgrade.

How on earth did you answer so fast. I no sooner hit "submit thread" and your reply appeared.

***Space Mountain at DL?***

Why did it close ?

***"Oh yeah, being moved to a different Moderate is a SERIOUS upgrade."***

Actually I read of people being offered one bedroom units at OKW. Factual or not- I don't know.

Where are they announced? This is some official announcement? Or are you talking about the announcements we get around here? Which usually consist of " hey guys I heard that Splash Mt was going down in two weeks."

Well, we did DL/DCA for the first time in Sept. When we returned I posted the list of rides that were down for rehab. The response I got back was " Yes,they close every Sept" so apparently people know that at certain times of the year certain rides go down.

Your "whim" comment implies that now Disney is suddenly doing something it hasn't done in the past.

NO the Whim is based on the timing not the action.

OK so they are not announced exactly what I said.

I'd love to be privy to this secret rehab schedule that these "people" know. Other then the water parks I did not know there was such a schedule. To bad the original poster was following the preset rehab schedule when he booked his trip uh? OH well he will "just have to get over it" right?

***"OH well he will "just have to get over it" right?"***

Don't go putting words in my mouth. Read my posts. I've never said anything like like.

We all agree that rides need to be closed for rehab. I don't know what Disney's policy is for announcing them but I've also never planned a vacation around an attraction or park so I've never tried to find out what will be closed.

But to say that WDW closed BB on a whim is not an accurate statement. We all know it historically been Jan,Feb but apparently, in an attempt to improve TL, they flip flopped it with TL. They also gave 5 months advanced notice of this.

Did AWM get burned in all this: Yes. But to read some posts one would get the impression Disney went out of their way to piss him off, ignoring the fact that TL will be a better park and that guest who always go in Nov,Dec will get to try TL and those that always go Jan,Feb will now get to try BB.
