I just joined the car #4 crowd

Hey, I am going to Disney LAND in less than a week, and Space mountain, Small World and a couple of others are closed for rehab. I am not too happy, but "Ya Rolls Da Dice, Ya Takes Ya Chances..."
I know what you mean. We made the decision a couple of days ago to take our April 2004 trip at WDW instead of DLR. We figure Space Mountain will be down, BTMRR will more than likely still be down, and Indy is scheduled for rehab from Jan 20th to April 3rd. Our trip is the 1st to the 6th so if Indy stretches a few more days we will miss out on that as well. We figure we'll wait and go back to DLR for the 50th.

Artic Wild Man -

I read the first 4 pages, but didn't get through them all. Just wanted to say I feel for you and that my DD3 and my DS6 also prefer BB to TL. BB has the great "inbetween area", the best family raft ride and fun racing mats.

We went to WDW with extended family this last March. BB was scheduled to be open until the last min. when they extended the "refurb" schedule. That left only one water park, TL, open during spring break. I'd never seen TL so crowded on a weekday before, not a spare chair to be had. Just our family is going back this Dec. and I was looking forward to doing BB. When I heard about the refurb switch, I was very disapointed :(. At least I found out about it months in advance though, instead of weeks. We were down for a week in Oct. to visit Universal parks and Sea World for the very first time. We took a day to do BB because we knew it would be closed in Dec.

I'm sorry that you don't have that option, flying so far. That is why we have visited so often this last year, being within driving distance for the very first time. We move next summer, so it will be back to flying and waiting years inbetween visits. Tell us all about Wild n Wet when you get back.

HI everyone

I just got back from WDW a few days ago and BB was closed for rehab. I went to TL instead. I enjoyed myself. Ive also been to Wet & Wild..The biggest slide was so fast and so long that the water bruised me! wooo Cowabunga

I think BB will be reopening real soon if not already! Has anyone checked??:D

I'd just like to chime in and express my awe at how insensitve and quite frankly rude some of the posters are in this topic.

Some of you should be ashamed at your comments (Test Track especially).

The original poster apparently thinks HIGHLY of Blizzard Beach. Maybe you don't, but it's apparently a large part of his vacation.

So what do some of you do? Belittle his vacation choices and tell him to roll with the punches? He should be thrilled that Disney has decided at the last minute to remove one of the main reasons he goes to WDW?

What if they closed Magic Kingdom down but said "Hey, Animal Kingdom is still up and running! Check it out!"?

So let me get this straight...he wants one product (Blizzard Beach), but since it's not available he should settle for something which he doesn't really care for....and he should be happy about it?

If you go to Outback steak house for a steak, you wait 3 hours for a table, and then when you finally sit down the waitress tells you they stopped serving Steak 2 hours ago but try the hamburger (hey it all comes from a cow)....you all would be OK with that?

You people are amazing. This goes beyond debating what is right and wrong with the Disney company (although it's a microcasm of that issue). This is a man expressing his frustration about his little piece of magic getting taken away from him. I can't wait until something you all hold dear about WDW is taken from you!

I would have to thoroughly disagree with HB2Ks analogies here. Yes, it stinks that the scheduling was changed, but they are giving 5-6 months notice here. Maybe some of the things that they were going to do with TLs refurb could not be ready in time, so they decided to go ahead with BB, or vice versa. The fact remains that schedules sometimes do change.

I'm going to be missing the Osborne Lights this year due to the stunt show construction, and next year because our trip will be in Mid-November. There is more to WDW than BB, and if a water park is the biggest attraction for your vacation I can think of several cheaper alternatives than WDW for your destination.

I guess what I'm trying to say is take in the rest of the magic, and don't let a minor piece ruin the whole pie for you. If you decide to not frequent WDW again that is your choice, but I hope that the magic wins you back over.

Good Luck and try to relax and enjoy yourself.

2004/2005 - Typhoon Lagoon Expansion - (11/12/03) UPATED The latest rumor claims that the Master Blaster tower will be placed near a Smoking Beach behind the main locker rental building just North of Shark Reef.
Not that it makes it any better for the Wild Man..................but apparently Disney didn't just alter the rehab schedule for no reasons, as further reported by Screamscape. There is more and more indication that TL will have the later and extended rehab to go ahead with an expansion that will include a Master Blaster water ride. No confirmation from Disney yet, but pieces are starting to fall together.

Unfortunately the necessary timing for this will be an inconvenience to some..............but if Disney is going to be able to expand we have to be flexible enough to accept things like this, especially when announced months in advance.

I still feel for you Arctic Man..........................but it is all in the name of progress ;).

I don't know when it was announced but I just noticed on the front page that Blizzard Beach will be closed in November and December instead of the normal January/February dates.

I'm pissed!! This trip I have planned for December was scheduled just so we could go to BB. Now Disney decides to change the refurbishment schedules out of the blue

I'm done with Disney after this trip. This is the last straw for me.

That's to bad.
