I read all the posts about the AAA discount and figured I'd join just to save money on our room in case AP rates don't come out. It cost me 70.00 to join; I emailed Sue Ellen at DU and she had the AAA discount applied for us saving 45.00 a night for a total savings of 315.00! So minus the cost of joining I'm up 245.00 already, not too shabby!

Thanks for all the posts about the AAA discounts!!

Is there a set AAA discount, or does it vary from resort to resort, from month to month? I tried to get a peek at the AAA rates for Disney hotels, but until I join, the website won't let me look!!

I'd love to know what sort of discount one could get at BC or YC or BCV. Might just be worth it for us to get....

THANKS!

Congrats! I did the same thing 3 days ago. I've never used my AAA for WDW resort discounts but figured why not. I too saved $45 a night and it didn't cost me anything as I've been a AAA member for years. It is better then nothing!

I too saved $45 for our trip in April at POR!

I joined AAA back in March for the same reason. Saved several $ on POFQ, then upgraded to WL. If you plan on spending any time @ Universal, be sure to take your card. I've read about great discounts there on almost everything.

Yes, Universal gives 10% off on everything with a AAA card, from the cost of entry to churros.

I happened to renew my Disney Club membership to finish out 2003. So, my last use of the DC membership will be to get a membership (w/DC discount) to AAA. So I'll still get a discount about equal to DC.

So I'll still get discounts w/Disney and instead of paying Disney for DC membership, AAA gets the money for membership instead.

Disney, that doesn't seem very smart! You will still give me some discounts but you're loosing out on my membership money.

I got a AAA discount last week for BC waterview room from 11-7 to 11-10 for $289 plus tax for a total of $322.24/inight. I am letting it go because I decided that is still too high for me. I had a YC waterview concierge room the same time last year. That was worth it.

I got tired of doing the AP shuffle, too. I went to the AAA today and got a new membership. The savings are not astronomical, but every little bit helps and it's that much less that Disney doesn't get out of my pocket! I got the WL for $169.15 /night and the 5 day park hopper tickets were $11 cheaper than if I would have bought them in advance at the Disney Store. The AAA charged me $220 each where the Disney Store wanted $231. Maybe now I won't be glued to this computer waiting on those elusive AP rates.

I use my AAA membership whenever I can to get discounts ... with a lot of hotels, it's the best rate I can get and very often beats the rates on Expedia, Travelocity, etc.

BUT, with that said, let me post a warning, esp. if you are planning a trip early in the year. I found out that every state's AAA negotiates its own deal with Disney. We went to DLR in mid-March. I wanted the Ultimate Park Hopper Tickets and starting in early January, called AAA several times a week and the answer was always the same: They had not yet negotiated their deal with Disney for 2003...they had no tickets to sell me. By mid-February I couldn't wait any longer, so I called a AAA in CA and got the tickets. Who knows how late in '03 they negotiated their deal. This will not really apply to things like room rates, but it will for tickets.
