I just HATE it when people rain on your parade!

I have to admit, I never understood the obsession my babysitter had with WDW.
Then I grew up. (haha)
No, really, I think much of it stems from people's ignorance (not to sound harsh, but it's true). Most people think of Disney as just a kid's place where any adults will have to listen to screaming kids all day.
They don't understand that you can go to a wonderful dinner in Epcot and have every choice under the sun. They don't understand that some of those rides are really, really fun. They are the adults that for some reason can't just laugh and be silly. Nor do they understand there are so many first class shows. I guess those people wouldn't find it romantic to be at the beach at the Polynesian or on the waterway and see fireworks.
Also, most people who have gone have usually gone in the extreme heat and thought they had to do all the rides and walk around and get exhausted. And then they were not wise on fast pass and stood in the long lines in the heat.
I wouldn't like it either if I did that.
I think when you go to Disney the most research you can do, the better of a trip you will have. Also, most people want to stay off site b/k it's cheaper. But what about the luxuries of being on site. I'm a big believer of staying on site. I know many stay off and still have a wonderful trip, but I just think some of the magic is lost when you are not in the midst of it all. (just my opinion). It's funny, my family and I went to Disney right before Christmas. We had a wonderful time including 4 days that were extremely cold. My friend and her family went in Oct. Their trip was "OK" but she says she couldn't see herself going "every year". While, my family just did a contract for DVC and I am thrilled and could go back tommorow! Each his own. But it's funny, when I asked my friend if she did this? or that? She would say, NO, I didn't know about that, what is that? Ignorance I say....or just plain jealousy. And a friend that can't be supportive just really isn't that great of a friend. Oh, and I saw that the Travel Channel was doing a show on the BCV and had some of the BWV. I called my friend and said, "This is where we will be able to stay with our points we got." "That's very nice," she said. "Nothing like what we stayed at."
And they are nice, but even when we stayed at the ASMovies, we had a blast. It's what you make of it!!! And it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks.
I know I'm getting long winded. But here is another side of the situation. I told my dad (who is a major home body and does not like to travel unless it's to fish at the NC coast) that we bought into Disney. Did he critize? Nope, he said, "I know ya'll love going there and you can tell when you come back home with smiles on your faces, sharing your memories. And I am very happy for you." Now, that's a true friend!!!!

I understand too...At least your DH is looking forward to going. My DH has never been to WDW and does not want to go. I booked a trip for this Dec and I am so excited. Everytime I even mention the trip to him he is just miserable. Thank God for the DIS boards! At least I can share my excitement with people who understand! If I get him there and he still doesn't want to go back then I will just to solo trips...who cares right! Time is so limited on earth...why spend it being miserable? Go enjoy the mouse!

I don't understand why people do that. We get that all the time - "You're going to Disney Again'. Must be nice. Hello we have an Annual Pass why not use it. Or "Didn't you see everything the last time you were there, does it change that much". I just say nope we something new and different everytime we go.

Basically we have gone for one weekend every month since July. Except January because we are planning my DD's big 6th B-day there in one week.

Your friend doesn't know what shes missing! poor thing :(

Congrats on your new job, thats awesome! and have fun planning youor trip.

So right! How about top-notch resorts with beautiful pools? How about 5 18-hole golf courses! How about meals at Wolfgang Puck's, Artist Point, Jiko, Flying Fish Cafe, California Grill and Victoria and Alberts? How about renting watercraft? A massage at the Grand Floridian Spa? Cirque de Soleil?

Congratulations on the new job!!!!

I know your feelings about those ignorant non-DISers. Not only do I get the"AGAIN!?!?!?", but I have gotten wind of the "She's going to Disney, how immature!!!" I am proud to be a 28-year-old (29 on my next Disney trip) Mouseketeer!!!!! I figure THEY are the ones missing out by taking the same vacation every year (Yeah- you can go to Disney every year, but EVERY trip to WDW is unique!!) and Me? immature? Naw...they just grew up and got old too fast!!!

I hope you have a FANTASTIC trip to WDW!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

See me laughing at the old farts that don't do Disney?!?!?! :earboy2:

Congrats on your trip. The thing about disney is there are so many different hotels to stay in that each give you a different experience, even offsite.

There are so many attractions, parks etc, so it is never the same if you don't want it to be. So much to do, its incredible.

We have been 6 times for approx. 8 to 10 days and have still not done it all. We enjoy time at the resorts as well, just relaxing.

Deb.

Congrats on the job and therefore you deserve a spectacular trip to Disney! To be honest, I'm going to Italy in a few weeks and I'm not really looking forward to it. However, I just booked my Disney vaca in December and can't wait. I constantly think, how did I let myself get talked into going to Italy instead of Disney? :confused3

We were sitting down to dinner last night and I told my husband about Lisa's email, and how since she is suppose to be a close friend I was disappointed in her response.

We agreed, she just doesn't know how to relax enough to be like a big kid.

DH has this thing he does before we leave for our trips- hes started again, out of the blue he gets a big grin on his face, looks at me and says....WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!"

I am afraid to tell my parents, Im thinking they will start asking about bills, or isn't that bad to do with a new job, or something negative. (Mind you my husband wouldn't let us go on the trip if it was going to have a big affect on bills and the new job said "no problem")

The last time my parents went to WDW was in 1975, before Epcot was built. They have no concept of how much fun it is- or that its impossible to "do everything"

Im so excited I could just jump for joy!!!!

We're lucky in that regard---my parents were just there (at Shades of Green) by themselves in December, and my Dad called and said "while I'm here, do you want me to go ahead and make reservations for all of us next year? YOU BET!

Heres what I wrote back to her (and have had no reply) odds are she will just ignore. Oh well

As for Disney- I can't explain it, its lots of fun, the resorts are great, the shopping is great, the atmosphere is happy, there are lots of things to do like sailing, horseback riding, parasailing, mini speed boat rentals, great shows. Day trips to other places are certainly options too. Going in May when it's not so hot made all the difference. And I love the rides too. I love Disney stuff, I have always been a Disney movie fan, so it's a fun atmosphere. I loved where we stayed, our room faced the "Sassagoula River" and we watched the ferries go up and down transporting people, horse and carriages go by in the evening, gas lamps, its a Mardi Gras themed resort. But WDW isn't for everyone, but you can't knock it unless you have tried it. I can't say that I can see you loving it, but I sure do. :)

Don't let your friend get to you. I get the same thing.
I just booked our trip for this coming August and it will be our 9th year IN A ROW!!!! We love Disney and can't see going anywhere else.
I can't even see a Disney commercial without getting tears in my eyes!! How bad is that!!!!!
Disney is truly a very magical place for our family and we can't see going anywhere else.
Have fun on your trip!!

Hi:

I always feel that we know we will have a great time at wdw, so I don't want to ruin a sure thing.

I so agree. In a little over a year my DBF and I went to WDW 3 times. And you know what, I WANT TO GO BACK! This last trip was the trip of trying new things, new restaurants, renting water mice, carriage rides, and I still don't think we've done everything. I can't help but planning another trip.

And as all of you, I get the same story every time I even bring up WDW. I get called a freak. But you know what, I love every minute that I'm at WDW. I love every second of planning, every second of anticipation. In fact the only thing I dislike about trips to WDW is the flight home knowing that I'm going to have to listen to all those non-disney freaks!

Enjoy your trip, your new job, and planning that next one after you get home!

:confused3 Don't know why a friend would say that! Probably would love to go herself but lives with someone that she can't convince to go. Wish her well on her cruise and then go on your trip to see ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo and make those magical memories! Have fun. :earsboy:

When people hear that we are going to WDW they say "I really have no urge to go there." I think if you have never gone then you don't have a clue. WDW has something for everyone. Or people will say I don't feel the need to spend money on a trip. I think that they are bitter people who can't have fun. If someone told me that they were going to a place I was not interested in I wouldn't be rude enough to mention it. I feel like telling them to keep there mouths shut!
Tara :confused3

actually she lives alone, and really wants ro find a guy...she is 45 and feeling like it wont happen now I guess

I know what you mean!! Everyone and I mean EVERYONE replies to me the same way when I tell them I'm going to Disney World AGAIN!

I personally don't understand why more people don't love it as much as I do. I mean, there is EVERYTHING to do there! And it's so MAGICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's so warm and fuzzy and exciting and so EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!

:flower1:
