I just HATE it when people rain on your parade!

Congrats on the new job and I think that is a wonderful way to celebrate, way to go!! Don't worry about what your friend said. Usually when people say things like that, it is becuase there is a underlying jealously...maybe she wishes she could do to Disney and her spouse says no, so she pretends to hate it. :confused3

By the way, my :hourglass is looking good...started at 540 days and look at me now.

DH has this thing he does before we leave for our trips- hes started again, out of the blue he gets a big grin on his face, looks at me and says....WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!"

Isn't that great?? I tell my husband something similar several times a week....more like.......

Me: Honey
Him: Yes?
Me: Guess what?
Him: What?
Me: I am going to Disney World in June!
Him: Really? How fun?
Me: And guess what else?
Him: What's that?
Me: I am going with a really good looking man and his daugher! (which are of course my husband and daughter)
Him: Lucky Guy! Send me a post card. :rotfl2:

It is fun. I am very happy for you and I would not worry about what your friend says. I still think it is jealousy.

When that happens to me, I just remember this quote (author unknown):

"There are two kinds of people in this world, those who think that Walt Disney World is one of the most amazing places on earth, and those who have never been."

Thats AWESOME!! Its my new comeback to anyone who irritates me about going back- and we go only every 5-6 years!! LOL

I just had my best childhood friend from California over for the weekend, (she got stranded at the Detroit airport; we're living in Ann Arbor now) and she made a remark about being proud that she had never been to WDW. We both grew up in So Cal, and have been to DL many times. I just put her in her place with "Oh, that doesn't count. You've been to Disneyland a bunch of times. They've already got your money. If I still lived in California, I probably wouldn't fly to Florida either." Totally took the wind out of her sails, since her remark was obviously meant to tick me off. Have a great time, and congratulations on the new job!

You should have belted her into the car and dragged her to see the Mouse!

I am planning my trip to WDW__ i Mean Seaworld__. I went to WDW last September on a FITS pass. So they were still good through most of October. You guessed it I wanted to go back. I mean I didnt want to waste the tickets right. So I asked my boss if I could have a few days off 3 to be exact. She told me that since I had just visited WDW this wouldnt be a good time for me to go again. We kept chatting and I said I was thinking of going to visit my relatives in Canada. She really P***ed me off when she said " hey why not go to Canada instead of WDW. I dont think we will miss you that much. It would be fine if you went take an extra day for travel.

STeam was coming out my ears as I said great. I guess I will go. So home I went and made my return plans for WDW to go to MNSSHP. Yes I did lie but who does she think she is telling me where I can spend "MY" vacation. What a control freak.

Had a great time might have to visit the relatives this year and go to the Xmas party LOL

This is the worst think I have ever heard! Not allowing vacation time just because you were planning to go to WDW again???? How awful. You will need to be very careful and NOT get a tan while you are there! Hee Hee.

Luckily I just found out that my boss loves WDW too. She stayed at AKL a couple weeks ago and brought me back one of the pencil drawings of the lodge that they sell in the gift shop. Nice! I have one of VB and WL so I think I will start a gallery wall!

Congrartulations on your job and enjoy your vacation! I know people like your friend and they are very annoying. :headache:

Who cares if they think there are better places to vacation. Congrats on your new job!! have fun with the mouse in may.

Next time, just tell your friend your going to FL :earsboy: let her figure out the rest

you could always reply with something like "Hopefully your cruise will be like the Titanics..."

My wife and I are 66. We went to Disneyworld last June for the first time. We went with our two daughters, one son-in-law and 4 grandchildren. We all stayed off site for fourteen days. We did buy annual passes because we were staying so long. It was hot and my wife couln't walk too far. We did a lot of off site trips too. I was so impressed with illuminations, that my wife and I are going back Feb 7 thru 12. I am going to videotape illuminations. When we leave WDW we are driveing over to Cape Canaveral and taking the Casino cruise. I never thought I would get my wife on a cruise ship, but we did it last year and she loved it. This is the same place where the Disney cruise ships leave from, and there was one in port last year when we were there. Casino cruise is totally free and is only an hour from WDW. We got a great price at Carribean beach with our annual passes for this trip, so I will know what it is like to stay on site when we are done. My daughter, son-in-law and twu grandkids from Canada are going back in June, and we just might join them. There is so much to do down there, that you are never too old to get the fever.

Pig Pen~
That's a great idea! Next time I'll have a few bags packed in case I come up against that attitude again, and I'll tell my DH that it was an emergency DIS intervention! :rotfl2:

Have been going to DW since June "72", have stayed at the Poly every time. There are people who I think enjoy bad mouthing DW, personally, I have never grown tired of the place, and will go regardless of what others might say. Besides, you go where you wanna go, and she goes her way.

I don't think that was very nice of your friend. Okay, so what if she doesn't like Disney. I think she was being very inconsiderate of your feelings. Go ahead, be excited!!! I think you deserve it and I should know because I'm so excited about our trip in May I can't stay off of the internet trying to find discussion forums for information and advice!! Have a great trip!!!!!!

And I quote my SIL "going to WDW again! and another disney cruise what is the matter with you?" my reply " don't you go sking every year? well thats what you like ,this is what I like so get over it!!! :rotfl:

WOW!!! Now thats REALLY awful!!! What company is THAT???
Brockton, MA!
Hey I went to college at Bridgewater State!! I lived in Norwood and Foxboro for many years!! (my friend lives in Quincy actually that wrote that email to me) I LOVED living close to Borderland State Park in Sharon.

Look at it this way, now you could say, well it's been so long since I have been back to WDW, I just GOTTA go to the Mickey's Christmas Party. :earboy2: Heck, tell her the relatives from Canada are going to meet you and its a Grand Gathering!! Hee! Hee!

Most of my friends tease me a bit about my "obsession" but I am working hard to eduate them and now one friend is joining us for 2 days on spring break. Her famimly is doing Universal, too. I am hoping that time at the MK, dinner at Chef Mickey's, and fluffy drinks at the beach at the Wilderness Lodge is going to make a believer of her! Meanwhile, when people tease about "going again" I say "Yes! It's the most wonderful place in the world and until I can live and work there, I am going to visit as much as I possibly can!" This attack of insane enthusiasm usually shuts them right up. We go for approximately 20 days each year, and there are still things I have NEVER seen...But I am working on that! :sunny:

I am not trying to be a wise guy, but you start a new job next week, I guess the first week of February? and you are taking a 6 day vacation the first week in May? Wow, must be a great company that will let you take a week off after only working only 3 months. Sounds like a company worth working for. And regarding those comments made to you by your "friend", you tell that friend to take a flying leap! :earseek:

We went ONE WEEK (in '96) after my wife started her current job (she's stll working there). She made it clear to them that we had this trip planned for months & didn't want to cancel it. It was no problem. One of her co-workers (who was hired at the same time) still talks about that!

:cool1:

We were "just at" WDW in Feb BUT guess who's going back in April!

We bought a place in the Orlando area
and we go back every chance we get!!!!!
Our kids are 16 and 11 1/2

No one understands, no one needs to.
My kids have been going to FL since they were infants, they love it we love it
we love the community we bought into and in two years when my son goes to college there me and him and my daughter and moving there-
imagine that one and my dh will stay "up north" until he's ready to retire-
although we are in our early 40's so it may be awhile.

We are able to provide a home/ I will be opening a new business
All of which I worked very hard to do so we could do this.

I have told a couple close gal friends-but my dh of 20 years plus is okay with it he'll be down 2x's a month-so my kids will have everything they need
2 parents/shelter and a means of support.

My parents think we are "crazy" but I said, I am happier than I have been in my life and it what we all want=so please be happy for us or keep your comments to yourself. :Pinkbounc

By the way I have older siblings/younger siblings and "inlaws" and I don't justify anything to any of them anymore, since we started going to FL over 17 years ago. We pay for everything ourselves and wouldn't go if we weren't able to.

Go and be happy and only surround yourself with people you have common bonds with and truly respect you as a person and a friend.
Life is full of uncertainty, negativity we need more smiles and positive things surrounding us!! :flower:
Smile and go to FL and have a wonderful time with your family.

It would be nice to be able to "share" our wonderful happenings with friends and our family's but sometimes we can't, but keep smiling.
Do what makes you smile and be happy. :grouphug:

Smile Smile :cheer2: :bounce:

4 weeks and counting.....
YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :cool1: E :moped:

"When you're smilin', when you're smilin', the whole world..." no longer smiles with you but thinks you're up to something. Or tells you to wipe that goofy grin off your face. Or asks, "What are you lookin' at?"

We have gone to WDW at least once a year since 1990. My boss would always say "what again" when i requested vacation time. I finally got to the point where i just wouldn't say where I was going. Now that his adult daughter has "discovered" WDW and bought into DVC and has invited him along, he wants me to help plan his trip :wizard:! "Where should we eat, what car service should we use, what hotel do you stay at, which park do you like best, when are you going back?" I love it, he's hooked :rotfl2:
Too bad he busted my butt all these years!
