I just HATE it when people rain on your parade!

Ditto what Dancing Bear said. As someone who has been going to Disney forever I get this all the time. Let it go in one ear and out the other. I know tons of people who go to the same place every year and nobody gives two hoots about them, but me they just have to give their opinion!! I just smile and tell them that yes I am going again and will be next year and the year after, etc. etc. Usually shuts them up!! Have fun and don't listen to the non-believers!! LOL!!

Just send back.

"you are going on a cruise... how boring. I thought only really old people cruised"

I live in Virginia and I went to WDW 7 times in one year!! Obsessive??? Not to me. I'd rather be at WDW than anywhere else. People ask me all the time why I go so often and I say, "If you don't KNOW why I go, then I can't explain it to you. Either you get it..... or you don't." Doesn't keep me away. I see/experience/feel something new every time I go. Where else can you experience so many of the countries of the world...all in one place (World Showcase), fly on a space ship (Future World), go on safari (Animal Kingdom), see a Broadway Show (Studios) and visit with The Mouse and be sprinkled with pixie dust!! It is absolutely THE BEST vacation any where!!!

I have a friend like that. I just ignore her anymore. I would go to Disney 3 times a year if I could!!! Everyone has different tastes. There is nothing like that feeling of walking into MK (no matter how old you are or how many times you have seen it) and seeing Cindarella's beautiful castle!!! Have a great time and good luck with the new job!!!

I have always read of stories of folks saying to DISers "You are going AGAIN?" and while I didn't care if my co-workers in my past company ribbed me a little (especially last time)

I had a miserable first trip- our wedding/honeymoon was Aug 2003 and I don't like heat...I know WHAT was I thinking? Well I swore I wouldn't go back. My my DH wanted to go back so badly during different weather to have a better time. So we went last May- it was the BEST trip!!!!!

This is a good friend, I don't mind some ribbing, but I can tell the difference between ribbing and negative remarks.

I GET IT now!!!! The DIS was what convinced me to try it again and now I LOVE it.

Mickey Bars....here I come!! (now I have 90 days to lose weight so I look good in pictures) Hee! Hee!

I just LOVE my fellow DISers!!

Now you've got me stewing over this more. We're planning to go back to Disney in April. It will be our 7th trip to Florida in 5 years, not counting DH's 2 solo trips to visit his brother. 6 were to visit Disney as well as family/beach/spring training. I'm getting nervous about telling people because I know I'll get mean comments.

Around here people go to the (New) Jersey shore EVERY year. They rent the same house, go the same week, etc. I HATE the Jersey shore - the water is rough and cold. It's boring. Friends of ours own houses there & we visit for the weekend sometimes, but it's not someplace I want to vacation. Still, I would never think of asking why they go there all the time!

And several of the people who think we're nuts for going to Disney so often are making their annual summer shore plans now...

BTW, DH & I thought we would hate cruises because of the crowds, the time restraints, the formal stuff & everything. Well, we've been on 3 and we LOVE cruising now!

You just never know. :)

I am planning my trip to WDW__ i Mean Seaworld__. I went to WDW last September on a FITS pass. So they were still good through most of October. You guessed it I wanted to go back. I mean I didnt want to waste the tickets right. So I asked my boss if I could have a few days off 3 to be exact. She told me that since I had just visited WDW this wouldnt be a good time for me to go again. We kept chatting and I said I was thinking of going to visit my relatives in Canada. She really P***ed me off when she said " hey why not go to Canada instead of WDW. I dont think we will miss you that much. It would be fine if you went take an extra day for travel.

STeam was coming out my ears as I said great. I guess I will go. So home I went and made my return plans for WDW to go to MNSSHP. Yes I did lie but who does she think she is telling me where I can spend "MY" vacation. What a control freak.

Had a great time might have to visit the relatives this year and go to the Xmas party LOL

I get this all the time from family, friends and co-workers. My SIL in particular always asks me every year, "Are you going to Disney World again? Aren't you ever going to get tired of it?" In the meantime she and my DB go on 2-3 cruises every year!! How come it's okay for them to do several cruises every year and not get tired of it and no one says a word, but because we go to WDW every year, we should be tired of it??!!! Not that I don't like cruising, because I do. I just don't understand why people are this way.

I have one co-worker who, while she never goes to Disney, thinks it's just great that we get to go there so much! It's nice to have a friend that understands even if she's not into Disney like I am. But a couple of others that I work with just don't understand and think I'm crazy.

I have a friend who always says "AGAIN????". Finally, this time, I told her...
"Look, my husband works 7 days a week 10-14 hours a day in a high stress job. If we, as a family, can spend one week on a vacation that everyone enjoys at the same place every year, then we will continue to go there. I don't ridicule your vacation choices, please don't mine. In fact, maybe next year your family should join us."

She apologized the next day. She also said 'I never really thought of it but we go to the beach every year, different city, but still the beach, because we love it. I guess it's the same concept. '

Okay, so I am thrilled beyond belief!!!

I have been out of work since April. My DH and I have had this sort of pact that if I could find a good paying job we would return to WDW in May for our 3rd time since our honeymoon in 2003. Well I GOT A JOB AND I START NEXT WEEK!!!!

Soooooo....Today I booked POFQ for 6 nights May 3-9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (might convert 2 nights to a delux if a good code comes out)

One of my bestfriends is going on a cruise and we were swapping emails today when she wrote this-

I can't believe you are going to Disney again. There are other places to vacation too.
I fly into Orlando for my cruise and wouldn't take the time or pay $50. to go to Disney

Really annoyed me. I mean, thats fine if WDW isn't your thing, but yeesh! You know I loved it when I went before and you know I am excited about it. Why be negative when your friend is excited???

Thought I would post and vent to fellow WDW lovers. :cheer2:
Good for you!! I'd write back and tell her:

"UNLESS YOU'RE TAKING A DISNEY CRUISE~YOU REALLY SHOULD STAY HOME AND SAVE YOUR PENNIES, IN THE SAME JAR WITH YOUR OTHER 2-CENTS!" :rotfl: :rotfl2:

(ps: "Only BORING PEOPLE...get BORED!") Go...and have a MAGICAL TIME!! :wizard:

:cool1: We get the same thing from family and co-workers. I just don't tell them anymore.

All the best wishes for you on your new job. Have a wonderful trip to WDW. You deserve it. By the time any of us get their it is a trip well deserved. Finding a good job in itself is worth celebrating and I can't think of a better way.

Best Wishes,
Shannon :wizard:

Most people don't get my Disney Obsession. I am at a point in my life where I feel I don't have to explain it to people. I know what I like and I like Disney. What the heck is so hard to understand about that.

When I do go to other places, I just don't have that same vacation experience, so I'll stick to Disney and all you non-believers can go to whatever Island, cruise or shore you like. I'll be watching Spectro-Magic and having a cocktail poolside.

Congratulations on your new job. Everytime my DD and I tell my sister that we are planning a Disney cruise or visit to the park she can't believe we are "doing the same thing again". Well, I believe she's not feeling the MAGIC :wizard: Isn't that sad:sad2:

I have coworkers who go to Las Vegas several times a year. I have never gone nor do I feel any compulsion to go. OK. The attraction is gambling, that is, throwing your money away with nothing to show for it. My friends justify it by saying they only lost so much. They go so often and lose, no, sorry, spend so much they don't need to pay for the room or meals. The hotel loves to see them coming. (Do I have sucker painted on my forehead or what).

The corker for me is that this is a young married couple with one son, two, and a second on the way. Las Vegas isn't for two year olds, but, they say their son is "too young" for Disney!

Congratulations on your job. And have a nice trip. Don't worry about what she says. Maybe she knows your going to have a wonderful time and she's a little jealous.

I just had my best childhood friend from California over for the weekend, (she got stranded at the Detroit airport; we're living in Ann Arbor now) and she made a remark about being proud that she had never been to WDW. We both grew up in So Cal, and have been to DL many times. I just put her in her place with "Oh, that doesn't count. You've been to Disneyland a bunch of times. They've already got your money. If I still lived in California, I probably wouldn't fly to Florida either." Totally took the wind out of her sails, since her remark was obviously meant to tick me off. Have a great time, and congratulations on the new job!
