Okay, so I am thrilled beyond belief!!!

I have been out of work since April. My DH and I have had this sort of pact that if I could find a good paying job we would return to WDW in May for our 3rd time since our honeymoon in 2003. Well I GOT A JOB AND I START NEXT WEEK!!!!

Soooooo....Today I booked POFQ for 6 nights May 3-9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (might convert 2 nights to a delux if a good code comes out)

One of my bestfriends is going on a cruise and we were swapping emails today when she wrote this-

I can't believe you are going to Disney again. There are other places to vacation too.
I fly into Orlando for my cruise and wouldn't take the time or pay $50. to go to Disney

Really annoyed me. I mean, thats fine if WDW isn't your thing, but yeesh! You know I loved it when I went before and you know I am excited about it. Why be negative when your friend is excited???

Thought I would post and vent to fellow WDW lovers. :cheer2:

That doesn't seem very nice for a friend to say. What is fun to you and what you love to do, makes YOUR vacation great. Go and have a ball. Don't worry about what someone says.

When that happens to me, I just remember this quote (author unknown):

"There are two kinds of people in this world, those who think that Walt Disney World is one of the most amazing places on earth, and those who have never been."

you could always reply with something like "Hopefully your cruise will be like the Titanics..."

or

"hope you bring some flu medicine!" :earseek:

Congratulations to you!!! :Pinkbounc

Don't let anyone even drizzle on your wonderful plan.

Negativity is its own punishment.

PS: Love your avatar!

Congrats! And go have fun at WDW, where else would you want to be?! Right?! Come on, forget how lousy your friend is/was and focus on WDW and have a blast! :cheer2:

We're all excited for you!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Congratulations on finding a new job! Enjoy your trip!

I am not trying to be a wise guy, but you start a new job next week, I guess the first week of February? and you are taking a 6 day vacation the first week in May? Wow, must be a great company that will let you take a week off after only working only 3 months. Sounds like a company worth working for. And regarding those comments made to you by your "friend", you tell that friend to take a flying leap! :earseek:

I've had the same thing happen to me! And I say, YES, YES, I am going to Disney World AGAIN!!!

Congrats on your job! Don't succumb to her negativity! Don't reply with a remark and don't let her get to you! She doesn't know what she is missing. :earsgirl:

I don't know why people get so weird about this. Everybody is different. If my best friend wanted to take a 2 week vacation every year to Iraq, I wouldn't say anything as long as I knew she could afford it and it was making her happy! If your friend doesn't want to go to WDW, then she shouldn't.

Interesting thing is, there are plenty of people who go every year to Nantucket, or Kiawah, or Hilton Head, or similar places, and nobody would ever say the same thing to them.

Dancing Bear you are so right! Why is that?? My family went to Cape Cod every weekend every summer and every weekend to Mount Snow- and they still do.

As for the company- I simply told them when they made the offer that we typically go to FL in May, would that be okay with them? They said, "sure, we'll figure it out" Might be that I have a couple of unpaid days, but it's not a big deal, it's only 5 days.

Had I waited until April, and then asked, that would not have been as easy to fenagle I would guess.

Wahoo!!! We're going to Disney World!!!!

Exactly!

Congrats on the job and have a great trip!

Congratulations on the new job! You can't worry about what other people think - the list would be endless! Have fun!!!!

well poo poo on her....sounds like she has a bit of negativity in her life..i would just ignor the whole thing and be just as happy about disney as ever

I don't understand :confused3 why some people feel this need to judge other people's choices - especially in vacations - so much! I mean there *are* activties that all of us like to do...again...and again... (if you know what I mean :teeth: )
Just because I've done something once doesnt mean that I never want to do it again.
And I agree with the poster who thought that what your 'friend' wrote wasn't very nice.

Have a good time,
agnes!
PS - My name is 'agnes!' and I haunt the DISboards,*because* in a little under two days...
WE'RE GOIN' TO DISNEY WORLD!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

I did not know cruises left out of Orlando!?! :confused3 We get those sorts of comments from family members that enjoy traveling the world all the time. No biggie, just enjoy yourself.

We tried going "somewhere else" on our honeymoon, Aruba, and by day three I wanted to call and get a flight to Disney World!!!!

Wow!! Thank you all so much for the support. I have known my friend Lisa for years, and yeah, I guess she can be negative, but usually it's related to herself.

I really dislike cruises, but when I visited her last week and she talked about it I didn't start listing all the things I dislike about them, especially because I haven't BEEN ON one! I like feeling grass between my toes, feeling like I can do whatever I want, eating Mickey bars! I dont want a boat to tell me when I have to finish my shopping because I have to get back on board.

I was so thrilled about this trip, and I knew she was excited about her cruise, I thought we could celebrate going on vacation together.

Since I haven't been working our last trip was last year (unheard of for me) Usually I can plan on a week on Cape Cod plus Maine for 3-4 days, etc.

My parents figured out how much we loved Disney when my husband gave me a Mickey TV for our bedroom for my 31st birthday. My Mother said "well so much for the formal french toile" The toile is still there, curtains, bedding, etc but I LOVE my red tv with the black ears...LOL!!!!

Now my husband is excited too that we are going back, it's so great that we are both like big kids. When we have kids they are gonna think they are so lucky because their parents are pros at WDW!!! LOL

Thank you all for making me feel better!!!

I can now begin the serious planning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my goodness, I could have almost written your post exactly. Yesterday, a friend overheard me say to another friend that we are going to DW in April. She then spouts off, "well I went there last year and I was NOT impressed! It was not fun and I would never go back there again!" I told her that we have been there MANY times and we LOVE it! I just don't know why people can't just say, "I am happy for you, have a good time!" So here is what I am going to say to you, I am happy for you, have a good time!" I mean what I say and enjoy every minute of it!
