Because I am on summer vacation, I have found television again. For those of you who are not teachers, this is a rare amenity during the school year. I am lucky to know how to turn it on! lol!

Anyway, I have been watching Celebrity FitClub or whatever it is called on VH1. Well, today I felt like a ton of bricks his me. The Snapple Lady, from all of those commercials from a few years ago, weighed in at 219 pounds. She is the largest of her entire team and most on the other team. Yet, I weigh more according to the scale and am half her size. I truly do not get it. Is this a matter of height? It really put a damper on things for me today. I just do not get it! :guilty:

Well height is a big factor in the weight issue. If you are 5 foot 7 and she is 5 foot she will look a lot bigger. Also the camera does add weight on you. You also may be more muscular than her. Everyones body type is different.

I have felt that way before. Most people look at me and would NEVER believe how much I way. When I go to my endocrinologist, the nurse always starts the scale at about 50 pounds less than what I am and I am always so embarrassed to tell her, no, you have to go up.....WAY UP...... :guilty:

I think that a lot has to do with your body type. I am shortish, but I am pretty big boned - every woman in my family is. My mother is 159 pounds, but she still wears a size 6. She is very thin, but according to the body charts, she is 40+ pounds overweight!!! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: I am a firm believer that scales mean squat. It is all about what you see when you look in the mirror and how your clothes are fitting. The only reason why I weight myself it so that I can keep getting new DIS clippies..... ;)

(((((HUGS!)))))

Height and frame makes an enormous difference, as does your level of fitness. I can carry tons more weight on my 5' 10", large frame, frequently exercised body that a short, petite, sedentary person.

Most folks are surprised when they see what I actually weigh. I wear the same size clothes as people 60 pounds lighter than me.

Height is a factor so is how you carry your weight. If you carry it more in your mid section it is more noticable then if you have it more evenly distributed.

I asked my close friends what they thought I weighed one time, they all said 150, 170. Pff, try (at that point) 220. They all looked at me like I had 4 heads.

Well, I feel your pain, sister! I am watching that show, too...Wendy is a really short! Plus, she is flab...no muscle at all! I saw your pics from the link on your siggie...you are no where near being as big as she is. She also has a really chubby face, you don't.

Since Daisy made every point I was going to make here (lol) I will just tell you that if you took 10 women each weighing 150 lbs. (or any weight so long as it was the same for all 10 women) (one magazine did this awhile back) each would look really different!

Also, I am a teacher and I know exactly what you mean and I LOVE Celebrity Fit Club! And I thought the same thing when I watched them get weighed. I was thinking I don't look that big! I too have always been the weigh 30 lbs more than you look type. My bf guessed I weighed 150! I almost died!

And I just have to say I want Toccara's body! :earseek:

Additionally, I think they tell them to lose too much per week- does anyone make their goal? (5,6,7,even 8 lbs a week!) I think I"ve seen someone make goal once!

Edited to add: My grandfather looked about 220 his whole life, yet was only about 180. My mom always says how bad she felt for him (she's a nurse so used to weigh him) I'd rather look less and weigh more than the opposite.
