Spring Direct Incentives 2/9-4/27

Could you expound on the reason why saying "I have decided to sell my resale 120 SSR and buying 150 direct contact is not allowed?
Because you are alerting others to a contract for sale and we do not allow For Sale Posts.

You can't even alert others of contracts you see listed (that are not yours) as that also can be seen as For Sale. Typically, I would delete posts with resort and contract size, but by the time I saw this there were a lot of respones and chose to add the comment instead.

Basically, if you are thinking of selling a contract, please do not share too many details so it can't be seen as For Sale. Best to keep it general....

Would it still be okay for the poster to state they are buying a direct SSR contract, if that is what they decide to do? And not mention anything about potential decisions on selling?

Posting their decision does the same thing because it implies they will be selling.

That is why if someone is considering selling and then buying, that details of what they might sell be more general so it’s not to be seen as a For Sale.

Exactly. The lowest cost entry to direct perks. I am happy with SSR.
RIV direct would be a no-brainer for me if it didn't have resale restrictions.

Your logic makes a ton of sense to me personally, but I'm also newer to DVC so I'm not as aware of all of the in and outs that others around here are.

If you're happy with SSR as your home resort I think minimizing the cost of 'upgrading' to direct points via buying direct there is the way to go. It's as much an emotional decision as it is a financial one and it seems like you've thought this through pretty well in a way that will work for you in both ways.

A bonus to upgrading those points to direct is that they will also become unrestricted to use as well vs how your resale points are only O14 which will become even more restricted after 2047.

Well that is a bunch of malarkey.
IIRC, they are not licensed in all states. If you live in an unlicensed state, they cannot sell over the phone---and the term sheet is equivalent to making an offer. Same for (some?) non-US buyers.

There are other quirks like this. Because of my state of residence, I cannot participate in the referral program---either to obtain the first-buyer discount or to benefit from referring anyone else.

As for Canada, no DVC timeshare will be sold in some Canadian provinces.
As far as I'm concerned, I once tried to make the call outside of my province of residence, or using a VPN online... it doesn't work.
As a result if I want to buy direct, I need to do it on site (or at sea).
I can complain long about it, that is my reality.
I will say, I'm not a fan of the "we'll pick you up and you'll make a tour" sales pitch.

But I can buy a resale contract on my couch. Oh well.

Thank you. I'm not the only one crazy here. :stitch2:

I called!
Based on where I live, I can’t get the info over the phone. I need to be at WDW.

If anybody here can share the info, it would be greatly appreciated.
Heard from my guide. This is the BLT discount. There is no documentation or pricing sheet (yet).

No anniversary, DVC, or Disney Visa discount. BLT is 275 per point.

Price off per point:
25 off 100-124 points
35 off 125-149 points
40 off 150-199 points
45 off 200+ points

That's a bigger discount than the last BLT sale. It was only 10/15/25/45(this last one is the same) per point in 2024.

I wonder if they could do Magical Beginnings… get down to $215pp at 200 points….

Thank you for this!
No problem!

Yes, it's honestly not bad if you really want BLT. PVB is still less with the various credits, but BLT points go further if you wanted to stay there as a home resort.

Agreed. I would not do this because of any specific "valuable thing." I would do it only for the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing I Belong.

(Full disclosure: that's why I bought mine.)
Access to resorts beyond O14 is somewhere in between "tangible benefit" and "strictly vibes."

I really love FW and would love to be able to stay there but managing half Direct points and half Resale points means it probably just isn't in the cards.

Pretty similar to the CCV flash sale which got it down to $209/point with MB. And CCV/BLT both go for very similar amounts on the resale market. So, we continue to see just how expensive Disney thinks it should be to wash points.
Yes! I am slightly tempted, but then I remember it has six less years on the deed than PVB and I can get PVB for less money.

Why couldn't VGF have this sale? 🤣
