I have been diagnosed with Glioblastoma.

Thanks for taking the time to update. I'm glad to hear you have so much support from family and friends. I hope your treatments are going as well as possible. You have such a great attitude, and I wish you the best of luck.

Sending you a BIG Koala cuddle from 'down under'.

What a blessing it can be to have supportive family near you during this time. Thinking of you and your family.

Thanks everyone! My hair is falling out in the areas of treatment but the Doctor believes that it is likely to grow back in some that aren't receiving the strongest dose of radiation. The area nearest to the tumor bed is getting the heaviest dose so that may not come back but I can part my hair differently to cover it.

Some people have suggested I shave it all off but since my chemo isn't likely to make me lose it all i don't want to do that. I'll just have to grin and bear it until we see which parts start coming back in. As my 15 year old son often tells me..."Cancer or bald patches Mom....cancer or bald patches...I choose bald patches." I love that kid!!!

It's great that you're friends and family have jumped in to help. Sorry that you're so exhausted by your treatments. How much longer will this round of treatments last?

Today was number 28 of 30!!!!!! Next Tuesday is my LAST DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've always loved the number 13 and to end radiation on the 13th is great!!!! I only wish it was a Friday!!!

Thanks for the update, Amy. Continued good wishes and prayers for your remission and recovery.

I recall when my DW, Marie, had her cancer, breast, about 12 years ago. She lost her hair with the chemo treatments. My son used to lovingly pat her on the head...he was about 6 foot, she is about 5 foot. She loved it, still talks about it. And she is doing very well, healthy.

You'll do well, Amy.

I am so sorry to hear this. My wife also had brain cancer, diagnosed 3 years ago....she was 26 at the time. Her cancer was a dysgerminoma, and was the size of an orange in her frontal lobe. We lived in Houston at the time and had a wonderful neurosurgeon and rad onc doc. She is 3 years clean of cancer now, thankfully.

Initially the surgeon thought it was GBM, however after the "tumor board" reviewed it came back different, and very radiation sensative. Short story is this, I've been down this road with my wife and know exactly what you and your family is going through. We have come out the other side with lots of knowledge and experience. In fact, my wife still has the radiation mask deal to keep her head still as a reminder. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions, we know a few docs in Houston that are miracle workers when it comes to cancer.

I'll keep you in our prayers.

P.S. - DW lost her hair as well, it did come back...curly as heck too.

Sorry I mised all this.....sending positives vibes and prayers your way. It sounds like you're getting through the treatments OK (easy for me to say!) Hang in there!

Amy, thanks for the update. Glad you have such a wonderful circle of support. My prayers are with you. Sending you Jeremiah 29:11, keep fighting tough! I love what your ds said too. My middle ds would always say funny things to cheer me up too. Gotta love our kids.

Thank you all for the positive and supportive responses and for those of you who've shared your personal experiences.

Today was my LAST radiation treatment!!! On the way there I heard the most fitting song so I apologize now if this gets stuck in your head for the rest of day...."I feel good........I knew that I would now.....I FEEL good..... haha.....I DO feel good!!!

As a celebration many members of my family are going down to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama A-Day game this weekend. We've declared it the Amy Day game!!!! Roll Tide!!!!

I've had a month "off" to recover from radiation. My energy is slowly coming back which I am thankful for as the school year is winding to an end and there are so many activities!

Most importantly I had a follow-up MRI yesterday. I meet with the Doctor tomorrow to learn the results. I will post as soon as I can.

Again, I appreciate your prayers, good thoughts, and support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
