I have been diagnosed with Glioblastoma.

Amy, I am praying for you. May God comfort you in the very tough times. {{{hugs}}}

You should definitely plan that trip! After all, planning is half the fun.

I will keep you my thoughts.

Thank you all for the prayers and thoughts. I am still overwhelmed when I log on and read your responses.

Today was treatment #11. So far I'm doing great. None of the negative side effects yet. I've also begun my oral chemo regimen. I'm taking Tykerb.

As of right now the only bad thing I'm experiencing is a terrible outbreak on my face and in some areas on my scalp. I have sensitive skin already but I've never broken out like this. It may or may not be related to the Tykerb. I meet with my local Oncologist tomorrow so we can discuss it. It's just that my whole face hurts from it. I feel like I did as a teenager...yuck.

:hug:Amy, you and your family remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Amy! I haven't "talked" to you on here in such a long time! I'm so sorry to find this post tonight and wish I could take it all away. You are such an incredible inspiration with your positive attitude and faith. You inspire me! Our family will be praying for you every day without fail and I know you can feel the power of those prayers. Please let me know if I can do anything for you at all. Sending love from your Utah friends.

Hi Amy:goodvibes,

Thanks for the update. I'm so very happy to hear that you're tolerating the treatment well! I'm still here, still praying for you sweetie. Keep that chin up and your positive attitude. Ah, the teenage years! They didn't have proactive when I was a teenager! I used Noxema and Clean & Clear! I hope your oncologist offers you some suggestions to help. Take care!:goodvibes:hug:

I'm new to your thread, just wanted to send you good thoughts and extra pixie dust! I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through, but glad to hear you're tolerating treatments well.

Good to hear you are doing okay with the treatments. Attitude is so important.

Blessings and prayers still with you, Amy.

Amy,

I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself: I'm Erin from PA. Wife, and mother of two little ones. I'm relatively new here, and I just found your thread today. I wanted to send out my best wishes to you...and to your family.

We have dealt with glioblastoma in my own family, and though I wish I didn't, I know the road that you are traveling. My father, 57, was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in 2005. While he is no longer with us, we made the most of every moment we had together throughout his battle with GBM. I just wanted you to know that he always managed to "beat the odds." His outcomes, both in terms of prognosis and side-effects to treatment, were always better than the statistics predicted, and so I share this as a story of hope!

For those of us who are newly following your thread, would you be willing to provide a quick update of your story? (Or is this already posted somewhere?) If you feel comfortable sharing, I'd love to catch up on when/how you were diagnosed and what your story has been from there!
In the meantime, know that others who have fought this fight are wishing you all the best and will be following your updates! :goodvibes

Liz, I'm glad you found this. Thank you for your prayers. How is your son doing on his mission?

Thank you for sharing your father's experience. I'm sorry he is gone. As time goes by I may have more questions for you, if you don't mind.

As a brief story I began having dizziness and nausea followed by headaches last May. I was treated for sinus infection and migraines before changing doctors and going in for an MRI. A 2 inch tumor was found near my right occipital lobe and surgery was performed December 22nd with most, but not all, of tumor being removed. I decided to be treated by Dr. Burzynski in Houston. He is treating cancer in some alternative ways that appealed to me. So I have an Oncologist locally and am having radiation locally with all treatments and test results being filtered through Dr. B's office. He is treating me according to gene marker tests he has run.

I have been reading along and I have you in my thoughts and prayers. You sound like an amazing person and we are all lucky to be touched by your strength and inspiration! Glad to hear that your treatments are going well so far. I will check in to hear about your progress.

Hi Amy,
Came upon your thread this evening. I am so sorry :grouphug: that you are dealing with this. You sound like a strong, determined woman of great faith!
Keep holding onto that strength and think far ahead, when you will be feeling better and going on that Disney trip. ;) Plan away, I say. As a cancer survivor myself, I remember reading on the DIS all thru my treatments. Boy that brought smiles when I needed them most. The escape to that "magical place" for me was amazing. I did miss a yearly trip and then when I went back it was even More Magical...So look ahead, focus ahead and stay strong!!!
You are in my thoughts and prayers! I believe in the power of prayer and know that it can bring comfort in times of difficulty. I am hoping that things get better with each passing day, as those treatments do what they have too, to get you back to your loving family as quickly as possible.
Again, :grouphug: :grouphug:

Liz, I'm glad you found this. Thank you for your prayers. How is your son doing on his mission?

Hey Amy, Jeff is doing just great. He comes home in December! I can't believe the time has gone by so fast!

I have asked so many friends to include you in their prayers. Hope you don't mind! I figure you can never have enough people praying for you! :grouphug:

How are your kids and hubby doing? I wish there was something I could do. I agree with everyone that you should work on planning that Disney trip! I don't even know when we can go again and I still plan in my head!

Amy,

I just found this thread today. First of all, I think it is marvelous that your brother is walking around today with your kidney. Such a gift is unbelievable yet you gave it.

Second, I want you to know that you are now in my prayers as you travel your journey back to wellness. I notice this has all happened recently and I hope you continue to have this good treatment. Who knows how long any of us have and we could easily be in your situation in the near future.

Good luck to you.

Love Karen

Thanks for keeping us posted and glad the treatments are going well w/out too many side effects/ We are all thinking about you.:grouphug:

Take good care.

Wow...it's been too long since I've updated you my friends. The radiation treatments have really knocked me out. The fatigue has really hit me lately. So my schedule goes something like this: Wake up, get kids off to school, go back to bed until 10am. Head to radiation which is a 20 minute treatment 30 minutes away. Then I go back home to get things done around the house. Sprinkle in a few other Doctor's appts. plus an IV iron treatment once a week and there you have it!

I haven't logged in to the DIS in quite awhile...just sitting here makes me tired. ;)

I am blessed with friends and family who have jumped at the chance to drive me to my treatments, sit in the waiting room, then we go out to lunch or on odd shopping trips. In nearly 30 treatments, I've driven myself ONCE. Every week my friends, my mom, my brother and sister call me and say "When do I GET to take you this week?" It has been a great blessing to me.

Life is good.

Bless your heart and those that support you--keep that wonderful positive outlook!! It will serve you well!

I just found this thread and want to wish you well Amy. Yes I believe a positive attitude does wonders. My husband went though cancer and I believe his attitude helped him. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Good Luck and God Bless.

It's great that you're friends and family have jumped in to help. Sorry that you're so exhausted by your treatments. How much longer will this round of treatments last?
