Back from a quick trip to POR Riverside using the Disney+ offer from this past spring.
Had just been with all the family so decided on no park days this time which worked great for such a short trip – had we been here longer I would have missed the parks
Also rented a car for the first time which was interesting. Not entirely sure I would do again but did use it more than I thought we would. On arrival day we had planned to hit a water park (summer perk) but the weather didn’t cooperate, so we checked in and had lunch before hitting a Disney Character outlet. We went to the farthest one first (tip: go first after landing if renting a car as it’s on the way, we drove “extra” because we essentially back tracked after lunch). Found several things so that was exciting – even some early holiday shopping!
We got the refillable mugs this time (first time in years) figuring we’d use them a lot and we did, so that was a good choice. Stayed at Alligator Bayou so it was a walk to the lobby but close to parking and was really pretty at night. That night was off to the Contemporary (with mugs) for the Café and then fireworks on the balcony (tip: get there early if you need/want to sit as the viewing seats fill up quickly). Thanks to ParrotBill for this tip! We drove to T&TC and monorailed over which was nice too.
The rest of the trip was leisurely shopping at Disney Springs, driving to the other outlet, resort pool time, uber to AKL for a lunch, skyliner ride to Rivera for a dinner, resort bus to DHS and friendship boat to the boardwalk hotels and dinner at the Beach Club. (had planned to watch the Epcot fireworks from the bridge, shoutout ParrotBill, but we got caught outside and got drenched so skipped it.) Our last night we had a lovely meal at Boatwrights, drinks at the Lounge and then saw Yeehaw Bob at Riverside which was a hoot. Apparently he’s been performing there for 30 years!
Anyway, made for a fun few days and there was so much more we could have done even without time at the parks
