I can't stand it when people post on a message board but write as if they are text messaging!!!

I can't read sentences with no cap letters or punctuations....

i h8 it... :sad2:

u r 2 rite....I don't like it either - I always thought it was because I was older.

Add me to the list! I've noticed it it often the younger crowd (teens) that do it.

It makes me run away fast. :rotfl: Frustrating thing is, I go to a lot of gaming websites that have forums & yet I can't read so much of what is written. As they say, it's all greek to me! :lmao:

This subject has come up in school. I work as a Para in a 5th grade class and these kids don't know how to write. They are so used to typing on the computer in chatrooms and IMs or text messaging that they have NO idea how to write the right way!! It's just awful!!

Dismom+two, oh my word! That is so sad and pathetic. It must be so frustrating.

I've noticed this. I've had teachers taht don't mind if we use w/o (lol I have teachers that use stuff like that) but most of it is just way over the top and they should know to draw a line between teh computer and the classroom

It also bothers me when people say "kool" it's the same number of letters, how hard is it to insert a "c" there? :confused3

I totally agree. There was a post recently on the CB about a problem someone was having and it was written in that style. It took numerous reads to figure out what the person was saying.

I had a headache after reading it!

Exactly. I don't understand why they say "kk" instead of "ok". It is the same number of letters and the first doesn't even make sense.

my biggeset pet peeve is when the post is filled with werds that r spilled rong.
can't peeple lern how to spill in skool? ;)

All true for me also. Some of the stuff here is so very difficult to read, I usually give up after the first sentence, no need to tax my old brain, LOL. :headache:

I have seen some here post what should be maybe 3 or 4 or more paragraphs, all in one, no capitalization, no punctuation. Now THAT is a tough read, LOL. :confused3

:teacher:

Dan, I agree. Hee hee, especially when you get to the thread and it's 10 pages long, but the OP is so badly written you don't want to take the time and the headache to read it :)

If I see stuff like that in a subject line, I won't even open it.

It is annoying. My dh is a middle school teacher and few of his students know how to write well. They are more comfortable with a keyboard than with a paper and pen. I guess that's the way of the future; however, writing well is a basic skill.

My pet peeve is seeing a long, long post that is all in one paragraph when it should be 7 or 8 paragraphs. There is nothing wrong with a long post, but it is hard to read when it's all lumped together.

That kind of writing, IMO, is only ok for text messaging and IM'ing.

On a message board, such as DIS, I think acronyms are ok...(JMO - LOL), but it's not that hard to type out long words.

Occasional misspellings, big words murdered (guilt here!), typing "teh" instead of "the"...just a curse of fast typers..no biggie. But horrifically spelled posts? yeah, I pass on posting to them too.

I'm guilty of bad capitilization...but better to be all lowercase, imo, THEN ALL IN UPPERCASE AS THAT'S ANNOYING TO READ...NO?

:)

THANK YOU so much for this thread! OMG, it drives me crazy and sometimes I too, pass on replying.

The most annoying:

* too - to - two
* their - they're - there
* you're - your
* advise - advice
* lose - loose
* he and I, or she and I - NOT him and I, or her and I....

Exactly I know what you mean run on sentences that have no punctuation this drives me crazy too why do they put several thoughts in one long unending paragraph maybe because people speak like this I don't know why no one takes a breath too much to say I guess but I won't read it either it gives me a headache too much else going on in my life lots of other great posts to read here

:sad2:

hI aLL,
punctuations, i hate that too.i try to be on time everywhere. :thumbsup2 :teeth:
