i hate

Its outragious, I know. My cousin who is 10 has a cell phone, I didnt get a cell phone untill my 13th b-day... so i got one a few months ago! But some kids have cell phones when they're 6! I'm thinking "whats wrong with these kids parents?"

I got my first cell when I was 11. But don't be so quick to judge! My parents both work during the day. I was about to start Jr. High. If, for whatever reason, I missed the bus (morning or afternoon), I would need to call for a ride. (Or if I was staying for department night).

Still, at 11, I was still playing with dolls and watching little-kid shows!

(I still watch Arthur. Every weekday. Heh heh.)

Same here. My phone was to be used for emergencies only. It stayed that way until I was 12. Even still, I don't have a texting plan, and it gets my friends pretty mad. But I can live without it.

I had one at 10, but it was for emergency only. I went to school nearly an hour from my house in the largest city in the state. If for some reason my mom couldn't pick me up she'd call me and I'd stay after school or go home with a friend and she'd pick me up there. I also used to go on ski trips with said school and they would keep me out of town until very late at night without a regular return time to the school, so I'd call her when we were getting close.

I kept it through middle and high school because I would go out with friends and she liked having a way to contact me should she need to.

I disliked working the register at my old job, and people would pull cash out of their pockets or bra, hand it to me, and it was moist and warm.

I get that all the time where I work. I always wonder why some bills are so wet! Last year some guy gave me a $20 rolled into a ball and said it was in his girlfriend's crotch.

People are so nasty.

I got my cell at 15, almost 16.
I mean I usually had a cell with me, it was my mothers, but that cell was rarely used, and I never texted.

I dislike when people in my grade act like they have the maturity of a 5 year old, I dislike when I see little kids walking around texting, I really dislike disneychannel shows (like Hannah Montana, HSM, and Jonas Bros.) I really dislike older people who act like little kids, I dislike unbehaved children, I dislike people when they use the word ain't, and much more.

To the OP, I dislike that also. I got my first phone the summer after 8th grade. I know a five-year-old who has a super expensive phone.

I also dislike when kids/teens 1. attempt to break their phones to get "better" ones because they "hate" them- even though they're way nicer than most phones... or else they just get new phones every few months/every time their contract is up. and 2. complain about their super- nice phones. Spoiled teens/kids disgust me.

I've had two phones, and the only reason I got a new one was because my first one was stolen. It was a simple phone- calling, camera, texting. No full keyboard or anything. Not one of those super expensive phones. My current phone is still on my old plan, but it's a go-phone. It gets what I need done.

I also dislike the obsession with Disney stars and Twilight.
Sorry, just made me think of that... lol

Oh, ITA.

I didn't get my first cell phone until I was 15 and even then I had to seriously BEG for it. My parents had to get 'proof' that I was going to be responsible with it before they got me one. And even when I did finally get one, it was VERY basic. No camera on it, no way to get music on it other than the average ringtone, etc. And! It kind of looked like a toilet seat when it wasn't open (it was a flip-phone). Seriously. I'd always make jokes about that.

When I was 10, I was playing Pokemon on my Game Boy Color, riding around the neighborhood on my scooter and drawing a hopscotch thing from one end of the side-walk to the other with my friends. And if I needed to get a hold of my parents (which I usually did-because they'd make me call them if I went inside my friends house) I'd *GASP* use their home phone!

Oh, the horror of it all! :scared1:

I would have died right there. What is wrong with people?!

I agree. Yeah, I didn't get my phone until I was 13.
I know a fifth grader with an IPhone. It's crazy.
My very first phone was a little cheap Verizon thing.
Now, since I have responsibility, my parents got me the Voyager.
Do you notice this or is it just me that all these little kids with phones drop them in water and/or break them or scratch them like that. Enjoy your childhood kids (: Phones really arn't that great, i noticed. When you reach a certain age, yeah, it's nessessary, but not when ur 8-12 !

I had a guy scratching his beard scruff with his debit card the other day, & then handed it to me. It was lovely.
I would have gagged right then and there.

See, I wouldn't have touched that. I would rathar get fired than touch some dollar that's been in some chick's crotch for who knows how long. I totally draw the line there.

Whenever I got warm/moist bills, I made it a point to show them how gross that was. Seriously people, have some respect!

About phones, I got my first when I was 13. I begged my mom for it, and she finally caved, but I rarely used it. I usually stayed in my purse for days, and when I finally did need it, it would be dead. It was very simple, too -- no camera (phones didn't even have cameras back then!), texting, etc.

The contracts I get are for 2 years, so I have to keep each phone for those 2 years.

The phone I have now works fine for me, except I wish I had a full keyboard. My contract is up this summer, so I'll make sure to get something with a keyboard. I mostly use my phone for texting and to call my mom.

Yeah. That's completely unnecessary. I find it humorous how cell phones are suddenly a "necessity."

When I was ten, I was playing with Barbies and American Girls.

Sometimes, cell phones are necessary. I'm getting a cell phone sometime this year and I'm 14-going-on-15. I do sort of need one because I go out and usually have to borrow a friend's phone if we're done ealier or going to be later.

Little kids shouldn't have one though. They should be with an adult or something who should have a phone themselves. When I was ten, I was playing dolls and Neopets. Not texting

my god i didn't even get my phone till my last birthday (15) and it's not really fancy or anything. i mean it's purple and has a camera but thats pretty much it. i really just text on it and call my parents if i'm staying after school or need a ride or something, but thats it.

my cousins have nicer phones than me and they're 12 and 10. i'm like "god, seriously...thats riddiculous." :confused3

That's not necessity - it's convenience. Our parents and their parents and their parents survived their teenage years without a cell phone. We could do it, too.

My friend who's sixteen, and her sister who's eighteen still don't have cell phones (I'll admit - it's annoying sometimes because I don't know how to reach them) and they live. There family only has one cell phone, and it's a work phone.
