I'm not sure what a graveyard grasshopper is.

I hate ALL crickets!!! It's a major phobia of mine! Grasshoppers are right up there with crickets in my book! That picture alone gives me the heebie jeebies! I can look at it without running away from the computer screaming but I can't look at it for long!

Just to gross out everyone even more. I found a VERYlarge grasshopper in a can of namebrand spinach about a little over a year ago. Talk about freaking out. The company bought me off with a check for 25 $ and a case of their products (specifically told them to NOT send any more spinach) WIsh I still had the pic to show. BTW they turn a lovely shade of brownish green when cooked. I didnt see the darn thing till just as I was about to spoon it onto my DD;s plate. Needless to say I will NEVER eat a can of spinach again. Give me my fresh stuff anytime.

Amen! I am glad somebody else sees the logic in this way of thinking! Dh always teases me because I tell him that crickets and grasshoppers are evil, evil creatures hell-bent on taking over the human population! They are out to get us, I tell you!

OMG! I should not have read your post! The only thing that freaks me out more than a cricket is a grasshopper! I probably would have passed out if that had happened to me. Thank God I don't buy spinach! I will be so nervous to open any canned vegetable (or fruit) ever again after this!

I am not scared of snakes, mice, or anything else but put one of those creepy little crickets or grasshoppers within 100 feet of me and I will hyperventilate!!!

ETA: Thank God you didn't post that picture btw! I sure don't want to see that one!

GEE but it was such a cool picture...LOL
They told me something interesting about how they process the spinach. They wash it, pack it in the cans fresh, then cook it after the can is sealed. Explains why you only wind up with a half can of spinach after the water is drained. The company said that the critter was probably in a large curled up piece of spinach. UGG! Oh and the woman on the phone told me that was a small one (a little less then 3 inches-made the BF measure it) compared to the others they see in the fields. ***shudders

Oh and my month old saucepan went bye byes. bleh bleh bleh!
