I hate shorts and t-shirts! is it just me?

I'm a skirts girl like you. I really do find them more comfortable in hot summers (& I'm in TX where it is HOT) than capris or shorts (I rarely wear shorts). There seems to be more airflow in skirts than having my legs encased in fabric. Not a 'blow your skirt up' thing, just less constricting & I feel any breeze more.
I've worn skirts all over the world, maxi & shorter. I also don't wear standard white trainers. Normally it's brown or black Sketchers or some other kind of Mary Jane looking sneaker. IMO they go better with what I'm wearing & look more polished.

I hate the idea that if you're on vacation you shouldn't care what you wear. I like to look what I consider nice & I don't take a lot of time to get ready in the AM (30 minutes including a shower if I've chosen what to wear the night before) so what does it matter if I'm wearing a skirt instead of shorts??

God I hope you are a teenager...and that you have the body to be wearing some of those items! ;)

I wouldn't be caught dead in colored jeans OR matching family t's. Maybe colored jeans are making a comeback? IDK, but I haven't seen anyone wear them here in the midwest...yet. :scared:

I think flip flops will drive you nuts walking all day long in the parks. Save it for the waterparks.

Have a great trip!

My coworker wears them. Green, purple, red, etc. But she is almost 70 and has been wearing them since their first inception 20+ years ago.

I personally hate em'.

Wear what makes you happy and comfortable!

For me, that's shorts and tees/tanks/polos (and all feminine fitted cut, not those boxy Unisex nightmares), capris at night (or jeans in winter). For footwear it's my crocs flip flops and crocs sandals. My feet burn up all smothered in sneakers in summer but I'll wear them in winter.

My sisters on the other hand wouldn't be caught dead in shorts and tees. It's strappy tanks, sundresses, strappy sandals....even though both of them are CRYING in pain from their footwear choices by days end...but the look makes them happy.

Just be YOU and you'll be fine!

I had to LOL reading your post. And all I can say is, "Welcome to America." Sneakers are everyday wear here. Mind blowing, isn't it? ;)

I can't stand to wear sneakers or "trainers" unless I am working out. They are just too hot for me. I live in Florida so flip-flops are the only kind of shoe I like to wear other than nicer sandals. Whenever we go to WDW I always wear flip flops unless it's freezing.

I think shorts/t-shirts are cute I just don't wear shorts very often because I have "dancers" thighs. :sad2:

Whenever we go to WDW I typically wear jeans but we've only ever gone in December so I needed something warmer.

Here at home I typically wear sundresses or maxi dresses because it's so blazing hot and you can get a nice breeze with dresses and I can hide my thighs.

I used to not care at all how I look but as I've lost more weight I've become more lady-like and enjoy looking prettier so I understand your packing list. =)

Man I WISH I could wear Maxi dresses. They're pretty and cool in the summer months but I look like a freak in them! So unfair. I'm not "fat" but I have a large (okay HUGE) chest and my upper arms are thick, so I just don't like the way I look in them. With my large bust I hate having cleavage showing as I feel like everyone is staring...at least DH always is hahahah!!

I like your packing list. I like to wear more feminine clothes too, short dresses will always win out over shorts for me. As for sneakers/tennis shoes - I agree 100%. You will never see them on my feet unless I'm exercising. I love wedge sandals or wedge flip flops - there are some really cute ones out there and they look sooo much nicer (esp with a nice pedicure)!

I used to never wear sneakers. One time I took my kids to the zoo and my friends were astonished to see me in sneakers for the first time ever! I'd do long walks in my comfy heels.

Nowadays, I wear sneakers most of the time and am turning into a shorts and t-shirt type of girl.

I do wear denim skirts a lot as I like the look - casual, yet slightly dressed up. They do fine in the heat too. I wear a pair of cycling shorts underneath to reduce chafing.

I would carefully consider some of your material choices because it will be HOT. Have fun packing!

Oh and maxi dresses should be nice, even in the heat as they are breezy. My DD just told me she wants a maxi dress really badly. I ended up giving her one of my stretchy maxi skirts and she's pairing it with a nice tank and flip flops.

I love shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops. That's one of the reason I prefer living in South Florida rather than Seattle where I spent most of my life. I have to wear a suit and heels five days a week, so when I'm not at work it's pretty much shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops. However, my t-shirts are all from VS so they are shapely at least.

Jennasis: I have a large bust too. Hanes makes these really thin layering tanks that are light beige. I wear them all the time. They even have adjustable straps so you can hike them as high as you need. I LOVE them!!

Containing the ladies isn't a problem (thanks to my collection of stupid expensive Wacoal bras). You have to understand, when I say large, I mean LARGE (36G). Hanes makes nothing that fits me.

when we go to WDW we usually go in August which is hotter than all can be (well, with the exception this year... Minnesota has had a record heat wave and is actually hotter and more humid than Florida has been!)

I pack my cotton carpi pants and white t-shirts and a pair of comfortable tennis shoes. No sayings or characters on the shirts, but just good old fashioned white t-shirts. This way, I'm staying cool in the heat. I usually take one long sleeve blouse in case we venture out to a restaurant and it's chilly in there. Then I can slip that on over what I'm wearing. I hate shorts and I don't feel comfortable in them. So that's why I've found the carpi's much better. It still takes me a few days to get used to them, but in the heat, I adjust to them very quickly.

I usually don't wear makeup when I go as it's just way to hot. I try and wash my face off at times in the parks with a cool cloth. In doing so, the makeup just comes off anyway. So I've learned not to bother. My hair is shoulder length so I'm usually pretty good with not even a hat or even having it up. My sunglasses are a must!!

I figure I'm on vacation, and nobody with the exception of my family knows me, so I might as well be comfortable. I've had tons of photos taken (photopass, etc) and that capures a moment in time. And I have to say, they've turned out quite well. We have even used some of them as our holiday cards.

So I think this is a matter of perference as what to wear. Wear what you like, but wear what makes you comfortable.

OK, since you shared that and I know you have horses, what type bra do you wear while on a horse? I'm thinking it would feel similar to running and I'm always looking for a "no bounce" bra?

Sorry, OT. TIA, Jennasis.

I can't wear dresses or skirts to the park. I just can't imagine trying to get in and out of rides (especially things like Space Mt) on a dress. I'm okay having my pictures from vacation with me in shorts and tshirts and flip flops. If I want to dress up on vacation, I'll take a different type of vacation.

If she's wearing one of the pencil skirts she packed, there will be no graceful way to enter or exit the rides. I have yet to see a pencil skirt that didn't prohibit free movement of lifting your legs enough to get on or off a ride.

Yup it's just you. In Florida in August 99% of people or more will be wearing shorts and t-shirts or tank tops. There are lots of feminine shorts options, but I wouldn't say denim shorts fall into that category. In fact denim shorts for both men and women have been out of style for a good while, probably 10years at least.

IMO I wouldn't be caught wearing a maxi dress or a romper (which is what I am assuming you are calling a shorts playsuit) because the former doesn't look good on anyone and the latter doesn't look good on any child over 5 years old. I'd probably also rethink the jersey knit dress in 100F weather with 90% humidity...unless you like material sticking in all the wrong places.

Jersey material stuck to your skin in hot weather doesn't sound like any fun on vacation.

Leave the colored jeans at home. You won't need long pants in Florida in August ever.

I have invested in a couple of pairs of nice coloured denim shorts and I have a few nice t-shirts that I will wear with these. I have also made us family t's and will be wearing these one of the days.
I will be packing my trainers but these are to wear to the gym, NOT to be worn with shorts or anything else because noones legs look good in trainers!:sad2:
What I have packed is a couple of jersey pencil skirts with 4 matching strapless tops,
A shorts playsuit
1 Amazingly cute maxi dress
1 jersey vest type dress
1 white tea dress
2 shift dresses forevening
1 pair coloured jeans
1 sundress
A few vest tops
3 pairs of flip flops
Toms
2 bikinis
Cardi for aircon places

prob a few things I've forgotten about but its hardly a huge list. We will be in florida for 21 nights so its a long time. Plus I'm from ENGLAND so I don't ever wear shorts because its too flippin' cold!!!!:sad2: I am just so used to being covered up that "letting it all hangout" is just a very strange concept for me to handle! I can manage at the pools because its a pool, but walking around in the day, I like to look nice. I don't do heels (I'm 5'8 so never do) and I wear a bit oftinted moisturiser and mascara so I'm not exactly dressed inapropriately. I guess its just my style, I like skirts and dresses, I like to be girly and shorts and a t-shirts just make me feel blah!:rolleyes2
so am i insane? Am i totally on my own for not being willing forgo for the shorts t and trainers look?

I say pack what you like. Once you are in Oralndo and it turns out you would rather wear t-shirt-shorts-trainers afterall, the outlet mall is only a short cab ride away.;)

I ride in one of the Wacoals. I've been on a hunt for a sports bra that fits...I flat out REFUSE to buy anything online (without trying it on first...not happening) and it's tricky finding anything in stores in my size. Only the department stores carry my sizes. I'd also like to find a demi cup or push up bra so that on the rare occasion I do wear something low cut, my bra isn't showing and the cleavage looks decent.

You gotta wear what works for you!

I know myself, my favorite thing to wear in the summer is tshirt and shorts w/flipflops but I don't go out like that. I just wear that kind of thing around the house (maybe that's why I stay home so much). However if I was going to be walking around the fun park all day, I would not hesitate to dress comfortably. I might not go so far as to wear Crocs, but I would wear comfortable shoes...probably tennis shoes (as much as I hate wearing tennis shoes for anything besides exercising).

Ok, so I am just doing my packing list for our holiday that is now 33days away and DH is making fun of me!
"Why don't ya just pack a load of shorts and t-shirts like the rest of us?"
"for god's sake pack some trainers so you can walk faster then a tortoise."

Am I seriously the only lady out there who just can't feel confortable walking around looking like, well not like me thats for sure! There will be pictures taken of me in virtually every outfit I wear on my holiday,so why would I suddenly not care what I look like?:confused3

Took me a while to figure out what trainers were. Lol! Also, maxi dress? shift dresses? Toms? What are those? sorry I really have no idea. Lol.

Your wardrobe seems fine to me. Wear whatever you like! You'll see all kinds of different styles in disney. Dont worry!

I agree with you. I'm not against wearing dresses when it is warm, but not to a theme park where I'm climbing into rides all of the time. And there would be no way to sit on Main Street to watch the parade either.:scared:

Pack and wear what you like, but have some extra money on hand, just in case you end up uncomfortable and need some different clothes asap.

Wear what you want. If you find it too hot or uncomfortable there are lots of shops around, and a Walmart right down the road. They all sell shorts, t-shirts, etc.

Am I the only one while at Disney that does not notice what anyone else is wearing? I'm too busy enjoying our time there to be concerned with fashion. I'm all about being comfortable in that kind of heat and humidity. I've even been known to carry a "gasp" fanny pack  so that I can be hands free!

Obviously you can wear what you like but you're wrong that no one looks good in sneakers, shorts & a t-shirt. It all depends on the shape/cut of the clothes & the type of sneakers.

I have very cut/muscular legs from running/biking/weight training so they look good in sneakers if I do say so myself. Pair well cut shorts with a fitted tee (not the baggy oversized kind) & cute sneaker like shoes (I.e. Keens) and you've got a nice outfit that can rival a maxi dress anyday.
