I hate shorts and t-shirts! is it just me?

I can't wear dresses or skirts to the park. I just can't imagine trying to get in and out of rides (especially things like Space Mt) on a dress. I'm okay having my pictures from vacation with me in shorts and tshirts and flip flops. If I want to dress up on vacation, I'll take a different type of vacation.

Yep, I don't wear shorts, Ts, and athletic shoes combination either.

Bigger denim and khaki shorts, yep, NOT attractive!!!!

Just remember, you WILL be hot here.
casual dresses and skirts might work, as long as they are not to hot.

I could see some really cute, 'short', denims, and/or skirts on women who are younger and thinner. :thumbsup2

One reason I do capri pants, like for a day at the parks, is that, even though shorts and little skirts are cool enough, you have the thing with bare, sweaty, thighs.

For me, I would probably do lightweight summer capri pants, with some colorful underarmor type summer tank-tops, cami's, etc.

In the heat and humidity - regular cotton will get get heavier and wetter with humidity and sweat, and more bigger-stretched-out, all day long... that's why everyone is into the athletic fabrics.

OKAY, I think I see the problem that your husband is talking about. While I do not do shorts/T's/Athletic shoes - I think I see that the real problem is the shoes. If they are going to slow you down and limit your mobility - or cause aching feet, painful blisters, etc... that can come from walking several miles a day in the parks... Then, for the parks, you may want to bring some athletic/walking shoes.

Foot comfort aside - If your husband wants you to wear shorts and running shoes, because he expects YOU to be running the parks like a marathon.... If that is his thinking.... I think he needs to be more realistic and respectful to you as a woman.

I am getting older now, and I have also had surgery on one foot....
So, sadly, even though I know they don't look great - I would have to be wearing my walking shoes to spend the day in the Parks, or I just couldn't make it.

Sometimes men just don't get it....
My husband had to learn that he has to S L O W down!!!
This had to happen the hard way - if he started taking off and getting ahead of me, he might find out that I am just no longer there with him.... ;)

Eh, whatever floats your boat.

Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in a matching family tshirt.

Neither would I. Nor would I be caught dead in a play suit.

But, to each his own. I don't care what anyone wears except for the gold lame booty shorts I saw on a woman's ample rear end. That was disturbing.

Ok, so I am just doing my packing list for our holiday that is now 33days away and DH is making fun of me!
"Why don't ya just pack a load of shorts and t-shirts like the rest of us?"
"for god's sake pack some trainers so you can walk faster then a tortoise."

Am I seriously the only lady out there who just can't feel confortable walking around looking like, well not like me thats for sure! There will be pictures taken of me in virtually every outfit I wear on my holiday,so why would I suddenly not care what I look like?:confused3

I have invested in a couple of pairs of nice coloured denim shorts and I have a few nice t-shirts that I will wear with these. I have also made us family t's and will be wearing these one of the days.
I will be packing my trainers but these are to wear to the gym, NOT to be worn with shorts or anything else because noones legs look good in trainers!:sad2:
What I have packed is a couple of jersey pencil skirts with 4 matching strapless tops,
A shorts playsuit
1 Amazingly cute maxi dress
1 jersey vest type dress
1 white tea dress
2 shift dresses forevening
1 pair coloured jeans
1 sundress
A few vest tops
3 pairs of flip flops
Toms
2 bikinis
Cardi for aircon places

prob a few things I've forgotten about but its hardly a huge list. We will be in florida for 21 nights so its a long time. Plus I'm from ENGLAND so I don't ever wear shorts because its too flippin' cold!!!!:sad2: I am just so used to being covered up that "letting it all hangout" is just a very strange concept for me to handle! I can manage at the pools because its a pool, but walking around in the day, I like to look nice. I don't do heels (I'm 5'8 so never do) and I wear a bit oftinted moisturiser and mascara so I'm not exactly dressed inapropriately. I guess its just my style, I like skirts and dresses, I like to be girly and shorts and a t-shirts just make me feel blah!:rolleyes2
so am i insane? Am i totally on my own for not being willing forgo for the shorts t and trainers look?

Yup it's just you. In Florida in August 99% of people or more will be wearing shorts and t-shirts or tank tops. There are lots of feminine shorts options, but I wouldn't say denim shorts fall into that category. In fact denim shorts for both men and women have been out of style for a good while, probably 10years at least.

IMO I wouldn't be caught wearing a maxi dress or a romper (which is what I am assuming you are calling a shorts playsuit) because the former doesn't look good on anyone and the latter doesn't look good on any child over 5 years old. I'd probably also rethink the jersey knit dress in 100F weather with 90% humidity...unless you like material sticking in all the wrong places.

Leave the colored jeans at home. You won't need long pants in Florida in August ever.

When I lived in TX where it could be 100 degrees in October, shorts and T-shirts are common with sandles or sneakers year round.

As I am getting older my shorts are getting longer mostly knee length or capris.
Where I live now it has been quite hot and no one has air conditioning, so shorts and tank tops are common on everyone. People mostly wear closed toe shoes here due to the rough terrain and snakes.

I no longer even own any skirts or dresses.

I agree to wear what ever you like. I wouldn't go buy a buch of clothing for Disney that you would never wear again. That seems like a waste of money.

That's what I was thinking. How can you get on and off rides in a dress or skirt? I have a hard enough time getting on and off Space Mt, RnR. I'm there to have a good time, not put on a fashion show. Sure if we are going to a nice dinner I would wear something more dressy but not on regular park days. I guess whatever makes you the most comfortable. I don't judge what others are wearing (unless it is revealing).

I guess it really depends on the skirt. I wear mid length loose skirts (are they called circle skirts?) and have never had a problem. I couldn't imagine wearing shorter straight skirts though.

I would love to wear light skirts or sundresses to Disney however I have a 2 year old and 4 year old that I'm chasing around and helping get in and out of strollers so I do opt for shorts or skimmers (otherwise other visitors may get a show they don't want! :rotfl2:) I also take into account that my legs aren't what they used to be when I danced and now that I'm getting older so I do avoid "short shorts".

In all honesty...wear what you feel comfortable in. You'll get some varying responses on here, but only you can decide what you feel comfortable in. Personally, I'm the type of girl that would prefer shorts and ts over anything else on most occasions...just the way I was brought up, being into sports and all, but that's just me. If you'd feel comfy in dresses, or other girly clothes..go for it!!

Strictly shorts and T-shirts or other short-sleeve tops for me in Orlando in August. If your list is what you want to wear, then go for it.

*:I* would not take jeans or denim shorts to WDW in August. Have you been at that time in the year? I live in the South -- our highs have been over 100 degrees with heavy humidity for most of the past week and we have three days of it coming up this weekend, very much like Orlando in August. I can't think of any situation that I would be willing to wear jeans, denim shorts or a maxi dress this weekend.

I'm a lightweight shorts with a v-neck tee and walking sandals kind of person. But I totally think that everyone should wear what they are comfortable in! (If my thighs so much as touch each other in the heat, I'm not comfortable, so give me lightweight shorts. Ouch.) That said, I too would lose the denim shorts and the jeans. Too hot. The many Augusts I've been to Disney weren't THAT bad, but I've been there in horrific heat. No way, no how to denim anything. As for the maxi dress, we've had a couple of young-uns wear them to the office the last few days, and they just look weird. And the girls, who are used to wearing high heels, but are wearing flats with them, are difinately walking differently. Not fast, because they are trying to... float.

I would be most concerned about the shoes. If your flipflops are the thin kind, you may want something with more substance, like Tevas. (I once work Sanuk yoga mat flip flops around the parks for a few days, and they were pretty good, but they have a bit of substance to them.) Can you possibly find a pair of walking sandals that you could deal with? I don't do sneakers (trainers?) simply because of the heat.

I'm quite comfortable in shorts and T-shirts myself, and wear my trainers for WDW even if I don't much at home. (Feet are rarely in the photos anyway.) But if you're more comfortable in dresses, go for it! Just make sure your alternate shoes are something you can comfortably walk a lot in.

I agree with those who said to just wear what you find comfortable. Personally, I wouldn't wear dresses because they are just unhandy IMO. You have to worry about how you sit and what can be seen if you climb on or into something. Plus it can be windy and I don't want to fight the skirt the whole day.

That's just me though. I like longer shorts and capris personally. I also wear sandals and flip flops most of the time.

God I hope you are a teenager...and that you have the body to be wearing some of those items! ;)

I wouldn't be caught dead in colored jeans OR matching family t's. Maybe colored jeans are making a comeback? IDK, but I haven't seen anyone wear them here in the midwest...yet. :scared:

I think flip flops will drive you nuts walking all day long in the parks. Save it for the waterparks.

Have a great trip!

Wear whatever you feel most comfortable wearing.

I normally wear shorts and a casual top when going to WDW, at least when it's warm/hot. I don't usually wear t-shirts, I think they look sloppy on me.

And I always wear tennis shoes to WDW. It's the only thing that saves my feet when doing that much walking. I've tried wearing other types of shoes while there, and they just don't work for me.

I love shorts and I feel "girly" enough by pairing them with a lightweight blouse (instead of a T-shirt) and wearing sandals. I couldn't imagine doing WDW in a pencil skirt, personally, but whatever is comfortable for you and covers you appropriately is totally acceptable.

Flip-flops are all I ever wear in the parks. If you get the right kind, they are so much more comfortable and attractive than sneakers. I like Yellowbox, but there are other brands out there that are comfortable as well.

People watching is one of the fun things to do while at Disney. :)

I'm all about comfort. Tennis shoes or chacos on my feet. No strapless tops. OMG.

Colored jeans are back-skinny jeans. My 12 year old has them and they are cute-on her, because she is skinny.

I wear shorts all the time, but never ever with sneakers because it looks ridiculous on me. I don't have fat ankles, but I don't have skinny ones either. Sneakers look fine as long as you have skinny ankles, IMO.

Flip flops in the parks only for me, unless it's cold-then I'll wear jeans ans sneakers-because no one cn see my ankles. LOL

ETA: I wear Teva flip flops, Nike sport flip flops, but also the basic Old Navy $2.50 a pair flip flops. My feet feel fine in all of them.

OP, I think your outfits are fine. Whatever you're most comfortable in works.
