I had oral surgery on Monday, and well now Ihave the liquid diet to deal with for a week.

So far I am able to eat: milkshakes, applesauce, yogurt and soup.
I can drink WATER

I am not allowed to have juice (too acidic), soda, alcohol, anything hard like bread, meat or any type of vegetables.

I am not allowed to use a straw

I can not chew with one side of my mouth

I thought I was doing great and I had a milkshake for lunch today. WEll the dairy upset my stomach..so much for that.

Is it Monday yet?

I had the surgery on Monday, and its Thursday.

A chocolate milkshake sounds real good right about now with the temps being in the 80s but I know your pain!! I had oral surgery a few years ago and the liquid diet got old real quick!!:p

Well ... looking for the silver lining on this cloud ... I have no idea if you have any weight to lose ... but if you do, this could be fabulous! (I myself could definitely use a week or two of liquid diet!!!!!)

Can you have mashed potatoes? How about pudding or yogurt? I've had two jaw surgeries plus impacted wisdom teeth so I know what you are going through.

I can definitely relate and am in a similar boat right now. I had surgery to repair a herniated disc in my neck last Friday. I was told that I would have a sore throat and trouble swallowing for a few weeks after the surgery. The first few days it hurt to swallow anything, even my own saliva. I am still not able to eat bread, meat or anything even remotely solid. I have been living on soup, yougurt, ice cream and fruit smoothies. I miss real food!!!! Today I attempted mild chili figuring that the chopped meat would be easy to get down. Wrong....little bits got all caught in my throat.

I know it is not fun to have to do the liquid thing, but you don't want to ruin the healing process in your mouth. Hang in there, it won't be for much longer.

Try a Misty Slush from DQ. :) I hope you're back to normal soon.
