I know a couple years ago we had some ice and snow when we were visiting DH's family. We had planned on going shopping the next day and went to test the roads. They were slippery but drivable if you were careful. Well, we saw a bunch of SUV's in the ditches because of course many SUV drivers think their car can handle anything. The rest of the traffic was just fine even in not so nice weather. Another time I got caught in an ice storm, which are WAY worse then snow, and almost everyone was driving about 5 MPH, except the one guy who think his car can do anything on ice. Well, he came "flying" by me going probably 40 MPH and about 2 blocks later he was smashed up against the median, the only accident I saw the whole way. Most people in the northern states know how to drive safely in bad weather.
AMEN, Golfgal!

But making them up in the summer or losing part of your Easter break always stunk too
