Okay first off, my DD has corrected me once again (shes 14yo). We don't say hate, we say dispise with a fiery passion. That is the way I feel about the scrapbooks that Disney sells at WDW & on the cruises. I'm not talking about the Sandylion ones. I'm praying that they are much better. I've bought 2 books while on vacation b/c I loved them in the store. Once I started using them to scrap in I about freaked out. I just finished one of my books last night, so that is probably why it is bugging me so much right now. I bought the wooden 12x12 one at DD. I love the look of this one. It is the best one I've ever seen. So there is no way I will ever get rid of it. The 2nd I bought on our cruise. That is the one I just finished last night. The problem w/ both the books...the pages don't lay flat once you start putting pages in them & when you are looking at them. I'm use to CM albulms, I honestly think they make some of the best albulms available, but I wanted something a little more fun for my Disney books. I like how they lay flat all the time, etc. Am I the only one who feels this way? Are the Sandylion ones any better or should I just try to return them? Thank you for listening to me rant. :scared1:

I feel your pain!! I can't stand them either. They are flimsy and while I love the weight if the page protectors, mine don't lay flat either and you can never buy refills.
I have 2 Sandylion books but they are not full yet so I don't know if the pages will wrinkle when I fill it up. But so far so good.

and LOL about your DD, my kids say the same thing about hate.

My Sandylion looks so good, so far too. I took a class & they gave us all the stuff to make the pages. So Mine is completely full of pages & pop ups, etc, just no pics, Every page lays flat. I checked it today & was very impressed. I really wish the two would combine forces. I too love the weight of the WD page protectors & that all the sides have a seam. I had nothing to do today, so I figured it out for them. They need to make the holes of their pages the same as everyone elses, then we could buy refills. And, if they would move the inside seam over to the right 1/4 inch & evrything else for that matter. And extend the albulm 1/4 inch too to protect the edge of the pages. If they did all that I would love them. Maybe they should just hire us for their prduct design department.

I'm there with you! I feel your pain. I hate the album that I bought at WDW. Love the cover design hate or shall I say Dispise the album otherwise. I don't like the idea that you can't buy refills for them and I hate the fact that there really isn't much room in the album I'm half way done (did mainly 1 or 2 page spread) and I have no more room!!!!

I have a sandylion one right now (the t-shirt mickey one) and I love it and haven't had any problems with it. I hated most of the scrapbooking stuff at WDW. I was prepared to spend a lot of $$$ on a really nice scrapbook there but they were so ugly, metallic, and cheap looking. I've made two Disney albums using sandylion... one was 8x8 and this one now is 12x 12.... I think they're worth it. I got mine t-shirt one for $15 on joann.com. But you aren't the only one who hates the disney property albums....

I don't have any of these but here is a thought......did you put extenders in? If so I have found to help with the laying flat and just over all look I bought small white clearish washers from the hard ware store. I would then put them on the post between about every 10 pages. This seemed to balance it out more.

I have three 12 x 12 Sandylion scrapbooks done and I love them, haven't had any problems. I have two more waiting to be used in the future and I have 4, 8 x 8 sized ones that I will be making for presents after our upcoming trip in Nov.

Well now I'm glad I didn't invest in a scrapbook at DW. I have 2 Sandy Lion books waiting to be put together so I'm glad to hear good things about them. I can tell you that I usually buy a photo album at Disney for the pictures that I don't scrap, this trip I was really disappointed and didn't buy one. The ones that I saw were cheap looking and bent up. Guess I'll be shopping around for a photo album somewhere else ... any suggestions as to where I can find one?

I have used several of the Sandylion albums and they are fine for me. IF your pages are wrinkling, try trimming them a 1/8 inch. It seems to help for me.

Also, I found universal page protectors at my LSS and they have worked on every album I have put them in. They only thing is that you can tell the pages are different but it doesn't bother me.

This is a great idea!! :thumbsup2

I know creative memories has mickey albums, 8x8 and 12x12. lakeside.com and abcdistrubting.com (?) had really cute mickey and tink ones. Sandylion thoe I think. I also found a neat set at our ross store here. It came with a 12x12 box with sections to hold stickers and working on pages, then a ton of stickers a super cute tink album with paper in it also. It was only $12 I bought one and so did my friend. good luck, I love creative memories stuff. Mum

I used the boring CM Mickey album for my last traditional Disney book, now I'm a digital scrapping junkie! Those books always lay flat, no matter how embellished the pages are!!

I have 2 WDW albums. One is a "Happiest Celebration on Earth" with Tink on the cover (bought in 06) and the other has a lot of characters, the castle, and WDW on the cover (bought in 08). They are both 12x12.

I love my albums. I don't have any problems with them lying flat, but I do think they are a little flimsy. I like the one I bought this year a little better than the Tink one...mainly because it is a ring binder and the Tink one uses posts.

I put extenders in my Tink one and it just seemed like it made it even more flimsy.

I also have a few 8x8 sandylion albums and I love those as well, but I don't have any 12x12 ones, so I can't compare them size wise. I have several 12x12 albums by other brands and most of them are flimsy too. Maybe it has a lot to with their bulk and weight once you get a lot of pages into them.

I couldn't resist the wooden one either! But my dad made it much more scrapbooker friendly by adding hinges and an extra piece of wood to the back, so I didn't "bind" the pages to the back cover. Instead my pages are held between two pieces of wood that are bound by hinges to the cover... Am I making any sense?

Can I send my wooden one to your dad to fix? I bought that one for our Disneymoon album and I'm really contemplating picking something else up. :-(

This is OT but I bought the CK Disney one, 8x8 of Mickey and Minnie sitting on a bench holding hands and watching fireworks. Very cool, 3 D, nicely made. I'm making one for each of my grown kids that we took to DL in May, then will put a CD at the back with the rest of the pictures. So..I make the whole book, and on some pages I used the back for the next page..well..this book has DUO PAGES..in other words TWO sleeves on one sheet, so if you are only using one piece of cardstock and scrapping on the front annd back, it looks a little filmy. I tried to use other 8x8 sleeves, but naturally the posts didn't line up to the holes, then I tried to 'trim' off one sleeve, but that just split it, so..a little filmy it is on a couple pages! Just beware and know about this duo sleeve thing before you start.

It makes me feel so much better that other people have issues w/their Disney albulms. I was starting to think it was just me. I love the one of Mickey & Minnie & the fireworks, but I refuse to buy another one of their book util they make them better. It frustrates me beyond belief that Disney sells that kind of prodict. If anyone is curious about the Sandylion albulms, I have two that are empty (I collect them, don't laugh), every page lays flat. The CM albulms are really nice. I was on the CM website & put in Disney & I think their digital program has Disney characters on it. anyone know?

I've also had problems with Disney's albums. I bought one from WDW and DCL last year, and the WDW album lays flat (it doesn't have too many pages in it since we were only there for two days), but the DCL one on the other hand doesn't lay flat at all. It bugs me every time I look at it. I definately like the Sandylion albums better. Did anyone else have a hard time finding extenders for their WDW/DCL albums?? I finally found some, but it took forever!!!

Adding spacers between the pages seems to firm the binding up. The goal is to have the binding be just as thick as the page stack, so the covers lie parallel. (Just adding post extenders without the spacers is a chief cause of the 'wobbles'.)

I use pretty thick chip board, or else that high density foam you can buy in the craft store, sliced 3/4 to one inch wide and punched for the posts. depending how thick the pages are, I might add one every other page.
