I had an interesting experience at Cookes of Dublin . .. .

Eeewww! I would not want any part of food waved around someone who changed their mind, either!!
That might warrant a call to mgmt.:thumbsup2

I would have walked out, if they do that no telling what's going on back in the kitchen...are you kidding I couldn't have ate there after that.:scared:

That's disgusting. I really hope you report them to the Dept. of Health and to their corporate office.

Thanks for all the wonderful responses. The more I think about it, the more I think I am going to report them. I think I was in shock at first that they would do that, but now that shock has turned into anger. I will let you know how it turns out.

Hi, just wondering if there is any update on the reporting? I was thinking of visiting Cookes for the first time this December but after reading this, particularly the manager's reaction (or non-reaction), makes me reconsider. If the restaurant management thinks this is acceptable behavior, it makes me wonder what else is happening back behind the counter that is considered okay by management, e.g., if food drops to the floor it is okay to pick up with tongs, shake off any dust, and put on the plate? Yuck.

I would have asked for a fresh plate too. ::yes:: I'm also a little confused as to why the people in front of you returned their food? Did they not read the menu? If they are picky eaters they should make sure to actually read the what the contents of the salads are...and if it was not what they wanted, then they should have left it right on the counter instead of touching it. Also, part of me thinks...why would you return it unless you've tasted it?

Definitely a health department violation and I am really suprised at the manager's response. Are they local, or a chain, if it is a chain I would be speaking to someone up the chain on command, that is horrible customer service.

If that had been any member of my family, we would have walked out. Keep your money, keep your re-served food. :furious: My mom was a post-bone marrow patient, battled Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma for years and had rounds of chemo that killed her immune system. So we had to be SOOOOOOOO careful eating out. If we got take-out pizza, we had to microwave it first before she could eat it. So if this happened, it would have been such a health hazard to her. Even to me, who has an immune system.
