I Dragged a Grumpy DH Back to the World and He (Kinda) Liked It...10/29 UPDATE!!

Great update! Can't wait to see the WL! We won't be staying there, but will be visiting to see their Christmas decorations and who knows, maybe we'll fall in love too :lovestruc

Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. MK is my favorite park, so I'll definitely be tuned in.

I'm so jealous you get to see it at Christmas! I hope you take tons of great pictures so I can live vicariously through you. I'm so excited just thinking of your awesome photog skills and the Christmas time at WDW. :lovestruc

Woo hoo, you made it to WDW and the WL! I think we sort of balanced each other out with the pictures...I took all the ones along the way, you took all the ones at the resort! haha

WARNING!!! :offtopic:

I've slowly become a HUGE pin trading junkie. I started during our December 2007 trip. I used to actually make fun of pin trading and thought it was pretty dorky. :sad2: I could seriously kick myself right now!! I've been to WDW at least 30 times in my life and I'm thinking of all the awesome pins I could've had. SAD!!!! So, in December 2007 I happened to stop by one of the Character Warehouse stores at outlet mall. I stumbled upon a Tink starter set for only $12. I figured, why not? Now, I am a full fledged pin trading nerd and I LOVE IT!!!!! :cloud9: I love to collect Haunted Mansion, Sleeping Beauty, attraction, monorail and holiday pins. Oh, and pretty much anything else that sparkles and glistens.

Anyway, the reason for this long-winded entry is to show off my latest eBay find. It's not like I didn't find enough pins during our trip, but I always keep an eye on eBay in case something cool pops up. Sure enough, something really awesome popped up. A Sleeping Beauty limited edition pin that I've wanted ever since seeing it on Pin Pics. I wound up getting it for $25.76 -- not too bad.

If anyone is interested, I'm on Pin Pics. My username is WDWRocksMySocks. Feel free to share your Pin Pics name, too. I love looking at everyones collections.

Cool pin! I was so proud of myself, I didn't go too pin-crazy this trip. :teeth:

My pinpics name is the same as it is on here, wdwgirl03.

Yeah, I think we did a good job with the photos. :thumbsup2 I wish I could've gotten more pictures -- especially at least one of the purple signs and a few of the Wilderness Lodge arch. Bummer!

 I'm in for the rest!

:welcome:

Thanks for coming on board!!

My thoughts exactly!! The lobby is AMAZING! I highly recommend taking a trip over there -- even if you don't stay there. It's gorgeous. Plus, if you're into the National Park Service you'll appreciate it even more!! I grew up taking summer trips to Yellowstone and the likeness is uncanny. Love it!!!! I really wanted to just quit my job and live there forever. Sadly, DH wouldn't have any of it. :sad2:

Thanks! Wow, impressive. Although, at first I was pretty disappointed with the pins that were available. It was only until I started digging that I found some cool limited edition ones I liked.

Love all your pins!

DAY ONE, PART THREE

Once Sleeping Beauty...er, I mean Aaron awoke from his nap we decided to take the boat over to the Magic Kingdom. This was actually the first trip I've ever went to a park on my first day there. Weird, right? We got to the boat dock and I was BEYOND excited to be taking a boat to the Magic Kingdom. I thought it was so cool. I really thought the boat access to MK would win Aaron over. HA, I was wrong. He was obviously not as excited as I was! Here are some pics I took on the boat:

I was impressed. The boat ride really wasn't that long -- 10 minutes or so. :thumbsup2 We got up to the gates, I grabbed my ticket and I COULDN"T get in. :scared1: Like an idiot, I keep all my tickets (old and new) together. Why...I don't know? Maybe, it's b/c I like to pull them all out and ooh over past trips I guess. Well, I had to stand at the turnstile and dig through my wallet to find the right one. Note to self...don't bring old, expired tickets with you. DUH! We FINALLY made it in and I spot a Photopass photog. Well, of course I had to stop and get the obligatory shot in front of the train station!

Once that was done, I go through the the tunnel and see this:

SIGH! There is nothing like your first glimpse of the castle during your trip. Love it! :cloud9: After soaking in all the ambiance on Main Street, we decided to head over to Adventureland. Typically, we're those people who start over in Tomorrowland and work our way around. With TTA and Space Mountain being closed, I wasn't sure if I could even bring myself to head over there. I was seriously distraught over that! :sad2: Especially since TTA was supposed to open the day after we got there -- and then they moved it back a week. Losers! Anyhoo, our first ride of the trip was Pirates! I love everything about this ride -- the smell, the song, the "scary" drop, the FIVE minute wait! Woot! It was a fun way to start off our trip. We then made our way over to Splash Mountain -- my absolute favorite ride in all of WDW! I tried to get a cute shot of Aaron and I, but sadly...this is what I got (FAIL!):

Beka, you are so right -- it looks like Aaron's about to puke and I've passed out. Sad! Oh well...at least I tried. The stand-by wait was just about 10 minutes so we went on it a few more times. Here's a bootleg picture of us -- I was annoyed that Aaron looked bored in the picture...for shame!

6016_963140511599_6852884_53562496_4277352_n.jpg

We headed over the BTMRR, where there was only a 10 minute wait. :woohoo: I should note, this was an evening EMH and TGM actually suggested to avoid MK that evening. Well TGM, you were WRONG! The crowds really weren't that bad at all. We were able to do a lot and we didn't even get there until 7ish. Anyway, back to the TR...We probably spent about an hour or so in Frontierland so we decided to head over to the HM, another one of my favorites. It was a walk-on! I tried to get a picture while we were on the ride, sadly...all I got was blurry grim, grinning ghosts...

6016_962406402759_6852884_53524294_7379593_n.jpg

We headed over to Frontierland...again. We rode Splash and BTMRR a few more times and decided it was time to get something to eat. We went to Peco Bills (another favorite). I got a cheeseburger and fries, and Aaron got a taco salad. While we were there, Aaron had a rather unfortunate run-in w/ the hot cheese sauce. :rolleyes1 See, Aaron will put cheese sauce on anything -- I mean, ANYTHING. He wanted to put some on his taco salad and while he was attempting to do so, he got burnt...BAD! Here's a picture of the start of his crazy blister (under his left thumb nail):

6016_962542824369_6852884_53531428_545959_n.jpg

We even went to first aid and the guy just gave him an ice pack and sent him on his way. It bothered him for the rest of the trip. However,
that didn't deter Aaron from going back for more cheese sauce when we went back to Peco Bill's later in the week. :rotfl: After dinner, we decided to ride Splash...again. I think we rode it at least ten times this trip. Told you we love it! Before we left Frontierland, Aaron just HAD to stop by the shootin' arcade:

After that, we just strolled through the park so I could pin trade and take some pictures. Here are a few of my favorites:

Next up...Epcot, DHS and Sweet Tomatoes!!

I love your TR. So FUNNY and GREAT pictures. My DH is a Disney hater also - and I am a Disney Freak - go figure!!! :lovestruc We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge Villas in January. I am still BEGGING DH to go along this trip!. I go every year and haven't been able to talk him into it for about 10 years - so I think he is due! I'm looking forward to reading more about your trip.

Splash Mountain is my all time favorite attraction ever. It is for this reason that I refuse to go in January when it's usually down for refurb, it just wouldn't be a Disney trip without it.

That being said, 2007 was DH's first trip to WDW ever. I wanted him to go on Splash Mountain so bad, but he is scared of heights. Finally, he decided it couldn't be that bad and went on and the rest is history. He wanted to ride over and over, he even bought a Splash Mountain t-shirt with all of the characters soaked to the bone that says "It's Actual, It's Factual, You're Gonna Get Wet." I was so happy he loved it and can't wait to go on it in only another 40 days or so. Next month!!!! :woohoo:

Ahh, another update...you are so fast! You're putting my TR to shame. :guilty: Guess I better get going! haha

I absolutely love that monorail t-shirt and can't believe I haven't gotten it yet!

OK, enough rambling...another fun update and there is nothing better than going to the MK on your first day. :goodvibes And how could Aaron not like the boat ride?!

Welcome!! :wave2:

Boo! Don't you just hate these Disney hatin' husbands of ours? :sad2: I hope you are able to convince him to go. VWL is SO amazing! Have you been there before? Perhaps the rustic surroundings of the Lodge will woo him in? I'm sending some MAJOR good vibes!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

HA! I love that your DH got that shirt. That's great Splash Mountain won him over. It's such a great ride. I've only been once when it wad down for refurb and I was really depressed -- especially when I saw the main drop all dry. I think Splash Mountain, TTA and Space Mountain have been the worst refurb WDW moments for me. I was really bummed to miss out on TTA by just one week. :headache:

The picture of the two of you on Splash is hysterical!

Ha, thanks! I tried so hard to get a frame-worthy picture on there, too. Shame!

Well, I usually update at work if that tells you anything.:rolleyes1

It's my all-time favorite Disney shirt -- LOVE IT!! Plus, it's super comfy so it makes it even better.

I know! The boat ride to MK is so relaxing and fun. I don't understand how it didn't win him over. He just doesn't appreciate all the good things in life!

WARNING :offtopic:

It's official...well, all most. I'm heading back to Disney World in January!!! My family is planning a trip in January and I'm tagging along. We had originally thought it would be in December, but we moved it to January due to schedule conflicts. My grandparents are giving us all the trip for Christmas! I'll be traveling with my mom, two sisters, four nephews (ages 10, 9, 7, 5) and one niece (4 months). The plan is to rent DVC points and stay at a 2BR villa at one of the following:

VWL -- My mom and sister, Lisa, really want to stay here. I wouldn't mind staying here again, either.
BCV -- My sister, Juliet, really likes the boat access to Epcot and DHS.
AKV - I think it'd be cool to stay here w/ a Savannah view. The boys would love it!

Obviously, we have to figure out which place we'll be staying at. What do you think would be the best with four boys?

Cool! When in January are you going? That's when my parents and sister are going and Dad said if I don't have a full-time job I could maybe tag along with them. haha!

As for the resort, those are all great choices. They all have their perks. BCV has Stormalong Bay but then again you never know what the weather will be like in Jan. :confused3 I'd say go with either AKV (love the savanna view/animal viewing locations!) or VWL.

We're going the last week of January (1/24-30). That'd be funny if you do wind up going and we went the same week. We'd definitely have to meet this time!! Where's your family staying? You're looking for a teaching job, right? I'm sending some good job hunting vibes your way. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I'd love to stay at BCV, but would be so bummed if we didin't get a chance to use Stormalong Bay (it looks so fun). We've been the last week of January before so I know how spotty the weather is -- it was in the 40s during that trip! I'm thinking VWL, but then I would love to try AKV. Hmmm...decisions, decisions!

YEAH, that is when they are going too! They've got a 1BR booked at the Boardwalk Villas. I have to decide if I want to go then (when I'd have to request time off even if it is just from subbing), in April at the new AKV (which would most likely be by myself since half my family will have just gotten back), or May after my other sister is out of school (and also uses way less DVC points)! As you can see I have a rough life, trying to figure out when to go to WDW.:laughing:

argh ive got a subscription to you and I'm not getting the emails even though i sent it to instant notification!

You do not understand the power of cheese sauce... it's amaaazing and worth the risk of getting burnt.

I would try BCV first its location to things is great you 've got DHS and Epcot also the Boardwalk. I went in January last year and kids dont care if its cold as long as pool is fun.

If BCV is unavailable I would AKL there is alot to walk around and look at, also there pool is pretty cool too.
