I did something fun last night (charity related)

We as a family serve in many ways for charity.. we have gone door to door and volunteered in a clinic, etc...


Anyway, I did a creative thing partnered with Borders book store.

If you have been in any Borders and Barnes and Nobles there are gift wrappers in the store... the gift wrappers are not Border/B& N employees but representative of a selected charity.... and we get to do something fun...

Wrap gifts, for donations! It was so much fun! Borders supplied everythign, paper, tape, tags, etc.. they just needed willing people to help.

And we did well... in three hours we did over $100 for our charity!


We had a blast chatting away, talking, etc... and wrappign. People were so nice to us.. offering us coffee/tea, and giving generously..

My son and I just did the same thing last week with his Church Youth Group. Our charity was Habitat For Humanity. In the 2 hours we were there, 4 Youth and 2 Moms wrapped over 60 gifts!

You are right, Cindy, it does give you a warm, happy glow!

DS will now ring the bell for the Salvation Army for 1 hour on Friday.

I love having those volunteers wrap books at Christmas at Barnes and Noble. We usually give much more than we would have "paid" because it is for charity.

That's a great volunteering idea.

IT was a blast.. I have no idea how many presents we wrapped, it was a steady stream for three hours...


One person even asked us to wrap his Macy's gift... !

What a coincidence that you posted this! I was just in Borders a couple of hours ago and I had a few things gift wrapped by a group of people from the local food pantry. They were asking for cash donations so thay could purchase perishables for their food baskets. I thought it was a great idea.
