YAY ME!! ;) LOL

Went in with mom and sil tonight -- we were there for an hour and tried a half dozen of the machines. I was sold after the first one! The environment was very comfortable, the women were real, and I am ready to get strong! (Actually, when she asked me what my goal was I told her "To be a BABE!!" :teeth: ) Really though, I just want to get rid of all this excess weight and get strong.

The measuring wasn't bad, but the body fat part ... ugh. I *knew* I was in the "obese" category, but to see it right in front of you that you're in the "highest risk" group is hard! If I lose 10 more pounds, I'll only be "overweight" so that's my next goal (plus then I'll hit that good ol' WW 10% goal mark).

Mom also joined, sil didn't (she has a home daycare and couldn't figure out how to work her schedule around it). Mom and I go for our first workout on Monday after I drop ds at school. I am *so* excited!!! :teeth:

Congratulations!
I have two sisters who have recently joined Curves and they both like it. I'm sure you'll love it too!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Congrats, Amy!! I'm a new Curves person too. I'm actually LOOKING FORWARD to tomorrow's workout. Weird! :)

Does your Curves do a family discount? Mine does. The second person is $10 a month. Unfortunately it won't work for me as my family is all out of town. My Curves said everyone needs to attend at the same location.

You may want to check on this.

Great goal "I want to be a babe!"
Sounds like you're well on your way! :)

Congratulations, Amy!! That is wonderful news! :) Good for you! :)

Amy, I am so happy for you! There have been so many positive threads about Curves lately. I am thinking I just might need to go check out my local Curves to see what all the hullabaloo is about. I really need to add some strength training to my fitness routine.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I really *am* looking forward to doing this. We've decided we're going to try to go in the mornings -- ds and I will pick mom up, mom and I will drop him at school, and then we'll be off to work out! M-W-F -- I hope I'm ready for this!

ohiominnie, I *wish* they did that discount! That would be wonderful! But nope, just $59 to sign up and then $29/month. Mom is paying $39/month because she wants to make sure she likes it.

I'll report in on Monday after we go for the first time. :)

I've been a Curves member for over a year and I love it! It is only 45 minutes out of my day and the women I have met there (esp the owner) are wonderful and some have become dear friends.

Enjoy!!

Congratulations DiznEeyore for joining Curves. Once you get into a routine of going it will become second nature.

Like WebmasterCathyCanada said, you will meet a lot of very nice people there.:)

Congrats, Amy! You will love it! Sounds like you already have your 3-times-a-week game plan already laid out!

Curves is GREAT! I have been a member for 2 months now, and I still enjoy my workouts. I have lost 3.5 inches so far, so it's a great way to lose inches. :)

Excellent! You are definitely on your way to goal now. Good for you!

Congrats for joining! It really is a lot of fun!

I've been going for a week and I actually went every day this week (without soreness!)

I like the fact that it is 45 minutes total - I go first thing in the am (no excuses!)

Happy Exercising!

Um.... well hello :)
I am new to the WISH board and since I have a friend that does curves and I am going to go with her soon and check it out, this seemed to be the best thread to say Hi  on!

I need to lose about 60 lbs total and have lost 10 so far, but seem to be stalling out, so I thought maybe coming here would help get me going again!

Hooray! Another Curves member.
I just had my first weigh in today. I did not lose weight, but I did lose 3 inches!

2 of it happened to be around my abdomen!

I am going to try and go in 4 times a week, and be more careful about what I eat.
I am already drinking more water, less soda.

Good luck to everyone!

Hi, Kathi! Welcome to WISH!! I hope you'll find inspiration, motivation and friendship here! :teeth:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! So many people here post about their great CURVES experiences! I hope you enjoy it! That is great news!!!!!! :)

Hi everyone. Had to share my very funny experience yesterday at my first months weigh-in/measure at Curves. According to my print-out, I lost 25.5 inches -- OK, so we've figured that the girl who wrote down my arm measurements was off by a good 8 inches per arm! It showed I lost 15 inches in my arms alone - hehehe - I told my sisters that since my printout SAID I lost that many inches, well, that's what I'm going to TELL everyone I lost! (LOL) The owner did my stuff yesterday and she was soooo apologetic that my original measurements had been messed up. I just laughed and laughed. I lost a little bit everywhere, and about 5 lbs, so I was very pleased. Oh yeah, the body fat measurer said I had gained body fat, but lost weight/inches! She said the machine acts weird sometimes so she just left my body fat percentage what it was originally because she said it could not possibly be correct.

I figure these measurements are so subjective because everyone measures differently. I figure if I've lost some weight, I will be able to notice the inches gone in the future -- the tape measure isn't the be-all and end-all. I just want my last years shorts to look better on me this summer than they did last summer!

I've been trying to eat more sensibly and I too am drinking more water these days and leave the Coke in the fridge for my dh!

Man! That would be amazing!!! Funny story, though!

I only lost 3 inches after my month of curves. It's okay, I will be more careful about what I eat and I am also trying to get in there 4 times a week.

I only made it there twice a couple weeks ago.
Not good!

Congrats on your weight loss!
I know what you mean about those summer shorts...

I think that 3 inches in a month is excellent, and that's the range I was hoping for. I think that they maybe measured me too loose in the beginning and maybe tighter this time around? Makes you wonder if they do it on purpose??? I will see what next month brings ... I'm trying for the 4 times a week goal too! Good luck!
