I decided against the DDP ... does my logic make sense?

that and the fact that while yes, we would like to try some TS places, we don't necissarily want to lock ourselves into having to use all of them. as it is, we looked through the restaurant guide in the unofficial book and between the two of us we only found about 4 or 5 TS that we even wanted to try. i think that we would much rather save the money and relax a bit in the room than have to spend the time it takes to have a sit down meal. plus our logic is that by sharing, we can try so much more food and not waste what we might on the DDP.

I just tried to calculate this for my family a couple of days ago - our last two trips we had free dining, so that was a real "no-brainer"! We always eat breakfst in our room (stuff we bring like poptarts, granola bars, etc), so that didn't figure in at all. We would save a lot of money by not buying the plan, unless we do any character meals...then the DDP makes sense. Last trip, we did three character buffets, with ADR times, which tied us down too much, according to my DH! So, if we want to be more spontaneous and eat without ADR's, we couldn't do character meals anyway, and then we'd be more economical without the DDP! Decisions, decisions, decisions...
Our last two trips were in October, during free dining, so ADR;s really were a must - What do you guys think about that in December (next year)?

My opinion is this, I don't buy it when we go, for our family, we could make it worth it...but.... why? We can eat for a lot less usually anyway,so why pay a lot more, and eat at places i normally wouldn't? there are a few must do restaurants for our famliy, and we pay to go there, everything else is up in the air.generally we eat breakfast in our room, sometimes dinner, sometimes even a lunch, but we like to stay for over a wwek, maybe 2, relax, not have to worry about a bunch of ADR's and getting to them...sounds like rushing to me...I think i'm the guy from last years planning video,I seek out benches...... :rotfl:
I just shudder at the cost for ddp food per day for our family...maybe for one day,but not 2 weeks!
generally, at WDW,eating out, breakfast is 20- lunch is 18.00,dinner is 20-35.....we forage, eat snacks, find good cs prices, like at Epcot there are so many good cs options that are so cheap! generally unless we do a TS character meal, like once each trip our food costs are around 60 per day. Sometimes less, sometimes more, but not what the ddp would cost us!
But I like bagels at the room, and mac and cheese at night in front of the tv beats dragging my tired kids to a TS place later at night.....

We just got back and saved over $500 on the DDP from what the items would have cost. We ate table service at Boma, Rose & Crown, LTT, LeCellier and California Grill (and while it was 2 credits each, it averaged the same price per credit as LTT and Boma). Yes, we ordered an appetizer or two more than we would have and probably a dessert or two more, but it was nice to know that we could. If I look at what we ate and pull out what we would NOT have, it's probably only a hundred. So, it was a great deal for us.
