I changed my resort! Now I'm nervous..Help about POR!!

In light of some new bills we are paying for the twins NICU stay we may have to cancell. I am so sad. I dont know how to tell my 4 year old. If we do end up going it will have to be at POP or one of the All-Stars. Since All Stars has a fridge swap I may go there.

You'll LOVE POR! My husband and I go alone many times and stay there (we like all 3 moderates though, hard to choose!). The POR has beautiful beautiful pathways, you can take romantic surrey ride or walks along the river. You can take a boat ride, as you probably know, over to Downtown Disney, its very romantic. We just love POR. :thumbsup2

PS OOOPs sorry, didn't see the last post. If you do go to values, you'll still be happy there, particularly your child, a 4-year-old is going to have a real blast. Great for the money, you can't touch a regular hotel by us for those prices. You can also keep an eye out for codes on mousesavers also if you want to upgrade to mod for romance, but with a small child you can't lose there. We are super mod fans but we aren't bringing young children either.

Wow! I'm so glad I booked such a romantic resort to stay at with my DH, 2 kids, and MY MOM!!!:lmao:

Quick question for you POR experts! We are staying Dec 9-15 in the AB section (we need the trundle bed). We will have our car, and won't need the food court alot. Should I request a certain building or not? We need to be next to a parking lot to unload the car. Any suggestions?

While POR is a very nice resort, we enjoyed POFQ much much much better!!!! I think that the property at POR is spread out way too much for our preference. While at POFQ everything is generally located centrally to the main areas of the resort. Even though it is smaller, it never felt crowed at POFQ, it was VERY romantic, peaceful, and quaint!

Alos, we had lousy bus service at POR. They share the buses with POFQ most of the time and the bus stops at FQ first. When we were at POR, we were not happy with the bus service. At FQ, we had no problem.

We have stayed at POR twice (once when it was still named Dixie Landings). We stayed in both the mansions and AB. We liked the mansion rooms better. I just liked the way they were decorated, I thought they were nicer than the AB rooms.

Great!! I am so excited! That is definitely want I want to hear. I really wanted to stay in a romantic resort but we couldn't afford a deluxe. So I'm glad that this is one of the most romantic resorts! :cloud9:

Haha! It sounds like it should be a great place to stay with kids too. If you are concerned with being near a parking lot, I would just call and request to be placed close to a parking lot. I'm sure they will be able to accomodate any requests you may have. Have a great time! I will be arriving the day you leave. :)

Thank you for writing! :) I will definitely check out POFQ too. I'm not really concerned about the busses because we will be renting a car. So probably just at nights we might use the busses. From looking at the pictures of POR, I agree with you. I think the mansions look better then AB too. I will just wait and see what happens when I arrive there. :cool1:

Loved, loved, loved Port Orleans Riverside!!! As a matter of fact, I'm going to Soap Weekend with my friend and daughter and we were supposed to stay at Pop (I've never stayed there before). We just found out we're staying at POR instead and are totally excited!! It's a bigger room, comes with the refrigerator and privacy curtain. Food court is great, and the its a beautiful resort. Enjoy it!!!:yay:

Congrats on staying at POR also!!! YAY! Have a GREAT time!!!!! POR sounds great! I can't wait to see it!!!

The building we stayed in did NOT have an elevator. Trust me, the bellhop had to lug all of the luggage up the stairs on his dolly. I felt so bad for him. He said he counted it as his exercise for the day.

We've stayed in both, and I think you did exactly the right thing. Pop is very crowded and kid-oriented, and POR is romantic and relaxing. Great food court, too. Pop was an interesting experience, but I doubt we stay there again.

Great place to say. From N CA and felt that POR had a great southern feeling. Would stay again, no questions ask.

couple of fyi, king bed in both mansion and ab, request also oak manor is a very good location, there is a quiet pool right outside also perfect location you just take a short walk over the bridge and you're at food court (get refillablemugs for sure), store, boatwights, bus stops; though you may luck out and get in without them, i would make adr for boatwright's just to be on safe side

Oh my! I wasn't sure if all of the buildings had elevators or not. I guess I better request a building with an elevator. I usually pack entirely too much. Thank you for letting me know! :)

Ok, great! I was worried about Pop being really crowded and I knew it definitely wasn't going to be romantic trip if we stayed there. I'm glad that I switched. POR sounds like it's going to be very nice. I am definitely looking forward to it  :cloud9:

That's awesome! I can't wait to browse around the resort! :)

Ok, thank you so much for all of the advice and tips. It sounds great! I never bought the refillable mugs before but I've heard great things about them so I think this time I will. Ok, I might end up making a reservation for Boatwrights, just to be safe. Thank you for all of your help!!! :yay:

I guess that would depend on if you like to walk thorough the grounds, or want to stay close to the car. I know that sounds silly, but we had a car also and stayed in one of the interior buildings (26) in the AB section. Yes it was a pain the first day hauling all the luggage to the room, but you can ask for help with your luggage from their zippy golf cart drivers. And it was so cool walking through the grounds to get to our room. It helped us to see more of the resort and we often took different paths each time we returned. Not for everybody though-park walking is exhausting enough:faint: If you haven't done so yet, check out the POR resort map and see what the kin want to do.

Definitely check out "Piano Bob", if he is still performing there. He puts on a great show and everyone has a great time:thumbsup2 .

POR is a lovely resort and I am sure you will be glad that you choose it for your anniversary celebration.

Is the Piano player at PORFQ or POR? I will definitely check it out. It sounds like a great time! Aw thanks!! I am already so excited that I switched to POR. I have heard nothing but great things about the resort! Only 89 days to go!!

POR is fabulous!!! It just might be my favorite resort.
I took my mom, dad, and son in May. We spent four nights of our trip at the Yacht Club, but my mom and dad actually took a bus back to POR one night just to eat there and walk around!
I know POP has been mentioned in this thread too. I stayed there in 9-06 and liked it just fine. Everything was new and shiny. I would be happy to stay there again.

Hope, how do you quote so many in a thread?

You know how there is a button that says Quote and then there is one in the middle and then there is another one that says Quick Reply? You hit the middle button on each posting that you want to quote. If you don't understand, let me know and I will try and word it better. Haha. Sorry! I don't know how to explain it. :rotfl:
