I can't believe I got a ressie for Dec '07!!

For those of you who read my previous post, I had a whole vacation planned for Jan '08 which I planned in Aug. We had a 1 bdr Pref view at BWV and were so excited to be going as new DVC members! We just bought in to AKV in Aug. Anyway, we had to cancel our vacation early last week due to DH work schedule and the only time we could go was Dec. 8 - 16 this year! Well, I called last week and of course there was absolutely nothing available, so I went on the waitlist for anything available (which ended this Monday) and then booked 6 nights at All star movies for cash (we could only get 12/8-12/14, not the last 2 nights that we needed), then I called MS and was able to get a 2 bdr at OKW for 12/14 and 12/15- and I was thrilled that we would be able to experience one of the DVC resorts, even if only for 2 nights. Well, a couple of days after getting the first ressie, I managed to get 12/13 at Okw to add to my previous ressie, again I was thrilled (I literally was calling six to seven times a day to see if anything opened up). Then, I hit the jackpot this past Saturday, it was probably my 7th call that day and it was right before they were going to close, I managed to get 12/11 -12/16 at SSR (2 bdr)- I couldn't believe that I was able to get that a week before we are going to go. Finally, yesterday I made my calls to MS and my last call (again around 4:30) 12/10 had opened up! So, all in all, I now have a ressie for 12/10 - 12/16 at SSR and the 1st two days (the 8th and 9th) we are still staying at All star Movies. From all the reading I do on these boards, it's my understanding that it is EXTREMELY difficult to get a ressie at such a late date- so I encourage others to be very diligent and determined because you just never know what might pop up!! I am so excited to be going on our first DVC trip!!! I was wondering if any others have been able to get reservations last minute?

I have a story similar to yours at BWV a couple years ago for the first week of December. If you are willing to call numerous times a day and book a day at a time, it seems to work. I am very persistent and have always got what I wanted. Hmmm, that sounds a bit like I am spoiled.



PS - You also have to be willing to take chances when doing this. You may have a couple nights spread out over the week and just have to have faith that they will all pop in sooner or later. Especially since you are sometimes past the 30 day mark.

I'm glad for you! We're going from the 8th to the 12th...of course we booked 11 months ahead, but it's great to know that we would have a chance even if we weren't such crazy planners. Someone else is posting they got BCV now, less than a week out, and only began planning very recently, too!

Congratulations!!

We just had our very first trip with DVC 4 weeks ago. We stayed at SSR (our home resort). We LOVED it! We hope to try out OKW next fall. It's right next door to SSR and we loved that location.
