OMG! I just booked a full priced package for the POLY, for Sept 20th for 7 nights...including basic dining plan...four of us (both kids considered adults)...even during value season...get ready for the price.....

$4867! :scared: it's even garden view!

I almost fell over. BUT I am keeping my fingers crossed for FREE DINING during my dates...I can call back and apply that code to my package, right?
That would take $1063 off the final price.

Even with free dining, this would be our MOST expensive trip! We have rented points and stayed at value resorts. We all REALLY love the poly though and want to stay there! OH well..I have 9 whole months to think about it!

Some of you POLY fans, TELL ME IT'S WORTH the EXTRA $$$!!!!!! :goodvibes

If you book through AAA you can get at least 15% off the room portion of the trip, and I think its a small discount off the ticket price.

I booked through AAA for our Magical Gathering (4 rooms at YC) and believe me it saved me a ton of money. You can only book the MYW packages through AAA. You can get the AAA discount through CRO if you are doing a room only reservation.

That's exciting!

Keep an eye on the Codes and Rates board as September nears and a better rate may come about.

Actually, there is already a thread for the Sept 2008 Code Watch. I'd subscribe to it and keep a watch out for those discount codes.

The trip sounds GREAT! Have a wonderful trip!

Thank you both! Isn't it true though, that if I get a discount on the room, I can't still get free dining?
I think with four adults, free dining is going to be better than a % off the room rate. ($1063)

Thanks again!

Hmmm...that's a good question. I don't know.

I bet someone on the Codes and Rates board would know, though. I'd post that question on the Sept. 2008 Codes board.

It's possible you might be able to get free dining and a code...but I'm not sure.

Don't worry. The trip will be totally worth it! We did the big splurge trip this past summer and it was right at $5Gs for a week at BC. We will all remember it forever, but the time still seems to go so fast. I loved that trip!!!

We're doing our 1st Poly stay next July. We're staying 13 nights = Just under $5,000, room only. I booked it over a year out and have been paying a little bit at a time. I'm over the half way mark.

Best case scenario - Discount code comes out and lowers the price.
Worst case scenario - I simply can't finish paying for it and we switch over to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We booked 2 nights at the Poly for next week, about 4 months or so ago. We weren't able to get AAA discount, and no codes ever came out. Well, we were still prepared to pay rack rate for those nights, as DH was indulging my whim to stay there, as I have dreamed of it ever since we took a Wishes cruise out of their marina.
Eventually, we were able to get the AAA discount, and the room is more than paid off with our Disney Visa rewards points, but still...it was mind boggling for somebody who buys NOTHING at full price.
I hope something comes up soon so you can stop stressing and enjoy your time at the POLY!!!!!

In Feb of '05 I paid $197 a night with an AP discount for YC standard view. This January (same rate code period) My AAA discounted price was going to be $276 a night  . I booked that, then switched over when the code with hopping and water parks came out as it saved just a little more.

Brooknwdw, you can only have one discount on a room, so if free dining does come out during your time period you would have to pay rack for the room. Truthfully though, the best "discount" I've ever gotten for a room was the old AP one which was $100 off a night for deluxe. This year's AAA amounted to $50 per night, so with a family of four you probably would be better off doing free dining. Discounts at the Poly are hard to come by now.

Hey that's $695 a night, mine is costing me $2773 for four nights at YC, standard view during value, or $693 a night, so your Poly stay is only $5 more per day than my YC! LOL ANd mine is WITH a code!

It's definately alot of money, but it is a wonderful resort. We stayed for 4 nights in Sept & next May we are doing a split stay between Poly & Por. We loved Por almost as much. I guess it depends if you are going to 'use' what the resort has to offer. The monorail is so great & we love the choice of restaurants too. The grounds are beautiful & nothing beats looking at thecastle from the volacno pool. I do find however that the resort is always busy. I guess that comes from guests at other resorts coming to the restaurants or just checking out the place. I know we did!! You have nine months to plan & pay & if the price bothers you & no code comes out, than switch it. Right now we have 2 nights Por & 4 nights Poly in May with a AAA code. It saved a little, but my eyes will be peeled for a better code. We only book room only as I have plenty of days left on park tickets. Have fun & enjoy it.

I've done the 'Poly Price Freakout' twice. :scared: Once for our stay last December and again for our stay this past August. Expensive, yes. Worth it? Definitely! It takes quite a while to save (we save all year) but once we get there, it is all worthwhile. Nothing like the convenience of the monorail to take you around and the beauty of the grounds of the Poly. The kids are still talking about how great the volcano pool was and how they swam at night with the castle in the background. :cloud9: I love the amenities and convenience and most importantly the whole resort allows me to RELAX!

We're staying at the Poly next December (saving all year again and not trying to :scared: at the price) and can't wait!

We stayed there Jan of '07!! It was AWESOME!!! Try to think of memories as priceless. I am VERY picky about hotels and the POLY was BETTER than I imagined!!! We want to stay there again. The Monorail is SO GREAT!! You'll love being so close to the TTA also!!

HAVE FUN!!

We really liked the Poly but is it worth the rack rate IMO absolutely NOT! Will you enjoy yourself, probably? If you have the money to burn you of course will enjoy it much more. We lucked out and this past August I was able to get us into the Poly, garden view, three adults for a little over $160.00 per night with tax. I had always thought that we would never be able to afford a stay at the Poly and was so glad to have been able to book our stay at that great rate. In all honesty I would not pay much more then $200.00 per night with tax for a stay there. It was nice but can’t at all be compared with four or even five star hotels not on Disney property; it’s more like a three. And yes I have stayed at many five and four star hotels for under 200.00 with tax so I feel I can make an honest comparison. If you do have the disposable income, and I realize many do, then the Poly is really in a nice location. I would also recommend the Beach Club or Yacht Club. The locations to EPCOT is wonderful and the pool really can’t be beat!

Keeping my fingers crossed that you can get a much better rate on your room then what you have gotten already.

I definitely think it's worth it! Yeah..it is a lot of money but every time we've stayed at the Poly..we've had the most amazing time!! But I'm also one that things that the GF is also worth the money. :) We'll be staying at the extreme opposite next week at Pop and I rrrealllly hope I don't get 'homesick' by not being at the Poly! This trip was kindof a spur of the moment idea and I never had any time to save up to splurge! Have an amazing time! And Aloha! :)

I just was reading on a related website, that the POLY was just given the 4 Diamond rating by AAA! That is great news! I hope you have a great time and keep your fingers crossed for free dining!

Is the poly worth the money? Yes it is worth every penny. One of the best times I had at WDW was when I stayed at the Poly. I couldn't believe that I was staying at one of the deluxe hotels and it was the Poly. I had seen it from the monorail and had even gone to the luau and I had never thought I would be lucky enough to stay there. Though I only stayed there for five nights it was really nice being so close to MK and have access to the monorail system.
Though my next trip I will not be staying there I will be back some day.
:stitch2:

Good for you! I wish I could convince myself to splurge too!! Maybe someday =) But for now, Ill just remain a tightwad! LOL

We just stayed recently for 9 nights for the first time. We saved, saved, saved for it. It was totally worth it and we had the best time. My DH loved the convenience and said that in itself was worth the extra money. I just fell in love with the Poly. Watching Hallowishes from the beach was just beyond words. We do not want to stay anywhere else. My DH said before going that it would be a once in a lifetime trip. Now we are planning to take my parents back for half the time next fall. We are saving again. It is just Disney magic at its best IMO. :)
