Hello and welcome to my TR! Come on in and make yourself comfortable. I hope you enjoy taking this little journey with my family and I!

A little bit about us. . . This was our 6th trip to WDW. We started going in 2005 and fell in love and keep going back!

This intro is pretty much copied from my PTR (which can be found here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2550396 ), so feel free to skip it if you want!

My name is Shelly. I am a mom to 2 boys, 11 and 9. I have been married to my wonderful DH for 12 ½ years. We live in PA, so we love getting away to the warm sunny state of Florida! After many years of working in banking, in 2005 I decided to call it quits and stay home full time with my boys. I became very involved with their school, PTO, and soccer organization. Last winter I decided that it may be time to get back into the work force, but didn't want anything that would interfere with my volunteer activities, and the kids school schedule. So, I now work as a Teaching Assistant for our school district on an on-call basis. :teacher: And I love it! The flexibility and being on the boys schedule are wonderful job perks, but I also love working with all the kids. My hobbies- well, obviously I am more and more obsessed with Disney each trip and am always busy planning the next trip! ::yes::

DH loves Disney almost as much as I do! He didn't at first, but I think each trip gets better and better for him. Probably because we take each trip at a more relaxed pace! :goodvibes I recently asked him if he would like to try somewhere else for vacation and he said – Is anywhere else going to pick us up at the airport and have everything we need & want to do right there? Nope, not hardly honey! He is a Quality Assurance inspector for a large company outside of Pittsburgh. He works a lot of hours and really looks forward to relaxing on vacation. He is a wonderful husband and father and enjoys taking the boys fishing & coaching DS's soccer team.

DS11 is our oldest and a very responsible young man. He is growing up way too fast. Where does the time go? How do I have a 6th grader??? :confused3 He is an excellent student in school and we are very proud of him. He loves Disney, Star Wars, Pokemon, video games, playing outside, fishing, and riding his 4-wheeler. He played soccer for several years, but decided to give it up last year when he had to move up to travel soccer and it became more like work than fun! :rotfl: He did his first season of track this past Aug/Sept and loved it! He is hilarious and not in the least bit shy. Those of you who have read my previous TR's know just what I mean! He loves to sing and dance and always be the center of attention.

DS9 is our little guy! He is in 3rd grade. He also does very well at school, but needs to be pushed a little harder to do so! :rotfl: He is very laid back. He is used to his older brother doing everything for him and he likes it that way! He has played soccer for the last 4-5 years and loves it and is very good at it! :cheer2: He loves Star Wars, video games, all sports, and playing outside. He is not quite as outgoing as his brother in the sense that he wouldn't jump in front of the video camera and sing & dance. But he is very outgoing at school and makes friends easily. And he is the first one to stand up to anyone who is mean to him and he is definitely not afraid to speak his mind (probably got that from me :lmao:)!

Both the boys are picky eaters. So eating at Disney is always an adventure for us. DS11 is doing much better and will try new things. He is just at that in-between stage where he still doesn't care for the choices on the adult menu, but sometimes a kids meal is too small. DS9 has true eating issues. He even used to have a speech therapist, not to teach him to talk, but to teach him to eat. He hated all that was food. He has come a long way, but still has a ways to go. Most times it is torture trying to get him to try something new. So unfortunately it is a lot of chicken & corn dog nuggets for him at WDW. But we make do and he doesn't ever starve. If we are going to eat somewhere that I think there may not be anything for him, I will feed him his favorite – a jelly sandwich (only Smucker's seedless strawberry jam and NO peanut butter) in our resort room before we head out. That way I at least know his belly has something in it! For those of you who may have read my previous TR's or Dining Reviews – DS9 is the kid who ordered a grilled cheese – hold the cheese, at Big River Grille. And ordered a turkey sandwich – hold the turkey, at the Plaza! The kid loves his breads. Thank goodness. And we have since learned that most restaurants will make him some type of pasta even if it's not on the menu. He loves pasta too. No sauce of course.

Okay, now that we got introductions all taken care of – On with Disney!!! :mickeyjum

:cool1: Here!! Going to read!!!!!!!!!

Yay! Love that picture of you guys-- it's so cute!

I am ready to read all the ins and outs of the trip. Leave nothing unsaid, no stone unturned. We want it all-- the good, the bad, the ugly. popcorn::
Nothing is too much, you know.;)

So like I said, this was our 6th WDW trip. Our previous trips were: October 2005 at CBR, May 2007 at POFQ, May 2008 at CSR, January 2009 at CBR again, and November 2009 at POR/OKW. About a week or two after we got back last November I got a PIN!! :cool1: Good for lots of dates in 2010. It was 20% off Values, 30% off Moderates, and 40% off Deluxe. It was good through 2010, but had to be booked by December 2009. So, not much time to think about it if I wanted to use it!

Every year when we come home from Disney I always say – we are staying deluxe next year!! But we never do. In the end it's always too hard for me to justify spending that much money when the moderates fit us just fine and have everything we need. But now I had this fabulous PIN code sitting here looking at me and tempting me!! I always said when we go deluxe we are going to go to the Poly! :cloud9: Just love it there! The theme, the atmosphere, the pool looks great, the grounds are beautiful, on the monorail, views of the castle, etc. But when the time came to book the resort for this trip I started having second thoughts. Not that I didn't think the Poly would be wonderful, I am sure it is. It's just that we are more of Epcot and DHS people than MK people. So naturally it just makes more sense to stay at one of the Epcot area resorts where we will be within walking distance of our 2 favorite parks. So I started researching the BC, YC, and BWI. I always thought we would go with the BC when staying in this area, but the more research I did the more I realized that the BWI is the one for us! We LOVE the BW area and visit it on every trip. We love the fun atmosphere, the new rooms look awesome, all the food options in the area, the great location, the entertainment, and that very cool pool & slide! And nope - we are not afraid of that clown a bit!! :rotfl:

Now, onto when. We loved November 2009, it was probably one of our best trips, if not the best. The weather was near perfect, the crowds were low, and we got to see lots of Disney Christmas decorations! :santa: So we saw no reason to not book the same week in 2010. So here it was December 2009 and we were booked for November 6-14, 2010! That is the furthest out I have ever booked. I told myself I would just book it and forget about it for awhile. Not start counting down or planning or anything until it was a little closer to 6 months out. Yeah right, like that was going to happen. :upsidedow So it was one LONG countdown! :faint:

Last year we went with Free Dining. DS11 was 10 then and it was the first time he was considered adult at WDW. I knew he would order off the kids menu the whole time, but it really didn't matter since we had free dining. And he did order off the kids menu the entire week. So for this year, since 40% off the BWI was a better savings than free dining we went with the room discount. I did all the Disney math every way I could and went over where we would eat and so on and decided that we were going to pay OOP for meals rather than adding the DDP. This would be all new to us and we weren't sure how it would work out. I bought a WDW gift card to pay for meals to add the convenience that we were used to with just using our KTTW card when on the DDP. So did we come out ahead by paying OOP? Was it a pain to not have the DDP? Keep reading and I will get to all that later! ::yes::

We flew with AirTran. Sometimes we fly with SW and sometimes with AT. For awhile there SW had some great Dings between Pittsburgh and Orlando, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. :sad2: So AT was much cheaper this time even with paying the baggage fees. Now I know with AT you have to keep a close eye on them. They are famous for changing their flight times. I originally booked an 11:00am flight down. That eventually turned into a 12:40pm flight. Which I wasn't happy about. But they added a 7:30am flight and we were able to change to that. I wasn't thrilled about that early of a flight, but it was better than not getting to WDW until late afternoon.

So on Saturday November 6 we got up a 4:00am and left the house at exactly 4:55. They were calling for some snow the night before, but luckily we got none. We were to the offsite parking lot by 6:00am and to the airport before 6:15. I was a surprised to see such a long line at security at this hour in the morning, but it was quite long. So after checking our luggage we got right in line. It didn't take too long and we headed right for our gate. They started boarding the plane early and we pulled away from the gate about 5 minutes early! It wasn't a full flight so DS11 and I had a row of 3 seats to ourselves, and so did DS9 and DH right behind us.

The flight was uneventful, the best kind! And we were to Orlando in under 2 hours. We got off the plane and made a quick stop in the airport so I could get an extremely overpriced Mtn Dew and we were on our way downstairs to ME. We walked through the BW line, got up front, and they had been letting people through to the bus. It looked like they were about to close the rope, but they lady said – just 4 of you? And I said yes and she said come on through and she closed the rope behind us. We got outside and notice that we need our jackets. As we are waiting to board the bus DH took our luggage to the man who is loading it under the bus and I hear the man ask him what resort we are staying at. And I see DH's face go blank and he says – it's uh. . . the. . . And the man says BWI? Yes, yes that's it. He looks back to see if I had heard all this and he knew from the look on my face I had! The BWI was all I had been talking about for the last 11 months! How could he forget? DS11 was like – how could he not know that? I could see that he was hesitant to come back and join us in line. As soon as he got there DS11 made fun of him for not knowing!

The bus was only going to POR and BWI and we were last. It was a very quick trip though. Especially compared to last year when the bus stopped at 4 resorts and we were last (going to POR). We arrived at the BWI around 11:00, about an hour or so after we had landed.

YAY we are finally here!!! :cool1:

Yahoo! I'm here too...........wanted to say Hi , now heading back to the beginning to read :)

Yay! I made page one!!! Love that he forgot...wanna know how many things Mike asked me that I KNOW he knew and forgot?!! It's a man thing. Which is why I am so surprised by the men that are on these boards planning trips for their families!!! But, Mike might do more if I wasn't so consumed with it! probabaly not, but I can dream..and do I see me letting go of the Vacation planning reigns? Not any time soon!! ha!!!

Hi Shelly! You're off to a great start...can't wait for more! I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving.

Ha Ha  Leave it to the DH not to remember the resort, Yours sounds just like mine but you know I think mine is going to remember this next trip, I said something yesterday about since we are going to do the DxDP this time I am going to make and ADR at the Morocco restaurant he has always wanted to try and he said to me we are staying at the Contempory? Now will he remember in 10+ months that remains to be seen.

You guys lucked out only having to stop at 2 resorts on the ME this trip and getting to BW so quickly

Hi Shelly! I am here! Looking forward to all of your stories, experiences and pictures. :cool1:
