I am so sad! Is our DL trip ruined?

Here's another tip for coping with rain: scotchguard your shoes! When we visit Disneyland we usually go for 3-4 days at a time, so I usually spray everyone's shoes before the trip with a Water Resistant spray which you can get at shoe stores for about $5 (Lady Footlocker, Bass shoe outlet). This definitely helps for drizzly rain, and even on water rides. Not sure how long this would hold up when it's pouring rain but it should provide a little protection. Hope that's helpful.

Great tip! I bought some for my DD's Ugg boots. I guess I'll give all of our shoes a spray. :cool1:

I just don't understand how the crowds would be down because of rain. I would think that if you spent all that money on air, hotel reservations that can't be canceled after a certain date, and tickets to the park, the people are going to be there.

A lot of locals will not go when it rains, so that could bring the crowd level down.

One of the big differences is that the local day trippers (usually AP holders) tend to opt out for a different day with nicer weather. The other factor is that a lot of times there might only be a day or two of rain forecasted, and people on multiple day trips will opt to make the rainy day a non-park day. The crowds really are smaller...REALLY!

Roughly two-thirds of Disneyland guests are locals. And of those, close to three-fourths have an annual pass.

Aren't these blackout days for the SoCal annual passes? Or do most locals buy the more expensive passes without all of the blackout days. We are here right now and while the crowds are smaller, there are still a lot of people and the lines have been busy.

Yeah I would not call today's crowd light, though certainly lighter than they would be.

We're done and leaving a day early. I can do a lot of things in the rain, but not eat. When we couldn't find a place to eat at 11 am inside I was finished. I think I'm canceling my Feb trip too. After record heat in Sept, then thisn I'm done.

Speaking as a local, we do the Premiums, because we go so often and have looked at the cost to add parking, and the additional discounts. We tried Deluxe last year which had some blockouts and it just seemed to interfere too much. We were there today and I was quite miserable. :rolleyes1 We'll be back Thur-Sat and as of right now I'm not looking forward to it as much as I've been trying to keep a positive attitude about the rain. We usually go on rainy days on purpose for the lower crowds. Today was just very busy! I was surprised since it was like a hurricane out there. Then to try to shop, and have people just standing in the doorways to avoid the rain was a pain.

OK, back to trying to have a positive attitude about this week :)

We have AP's and we are going tomorrow, rain or shine. We just want to see the Christmas lights and get the Christmas candy apples.

We have AP's and went Friday, and I'm sorry, but it sucked in the rain. We hit Pirates and Haunted Mansion on Fri and left. Didn't go back on Saturday at all. It did NOT stop raining all weekend. It was still raining when we left on Sunday. I was really bummed. But we'll go back in February...LOL
