I am so sad! Is our DL trip ruined?

Weather.com has already changed the forecast to "few showers" for the 20th! Looks are looking sunnier already :goodvibes

We'll be in DL this weekend - not too bothered by the rain forecast except where it might affect our holiday tour on Saturday.

From what I understand they cancel the parade if it rains, and the parade seating was a major factor in our deciding to do the tour. I'll be pretty bummed if the parade is canceled. :sad2:

chepar, I'm in the same boat as you. I wouldn't have a problem with the rain, if it weren't for the loss of the parade seating during our Holiday Tour. Pixiedust to everyone who will be with us next weekend:wizard:

We'll be there this weekend too and rain ready!
I look forward to the parks being a lot less croweded. It'll just be a different kind of Disney experience.

Boo! Figures. We had to punt last month's Disney trip to this weekend due to our washing machine breaking! New washer!

We can't go in the rain with a 2 year old and 5 month old. Guess we're postponing again!

I have been there in the rain during my single days and it really is a great time. It's like having your own personal park!

Sorry about your washer breaking that's not good...but yea for a new one.

I have been watching the weather forecast and it's changing...for the better. Not quite as harsh at it was in the beginning. Most days are only 30-4% chance of rain. Hopefully we won't get poured on and it'll be enough to keep the crowds down.

Hi guys- I'm leaving Anaheim today, just spent 2 warm days at the parks. It rained last night and the weather looks iffy...It's also supposed to rain the next few days, so bring a poncho if you're coming to the park!

I have been watching the weather to get the 15 day forecast and it's finally out. We are going to DL Dec 17-21 and it's forecasting R-A-I-N!

How can this be?!? So is our trip ruined or what or can fun be had in the pouring rain?

No of course not!! DL is so much fun in the rain! besides rides like space mountain and pinnochio may have less of a wait time! :woohoo:

Pinocchio? Peter Pan, surely. I've never waited more than 6 mins for Pinocchio.

I live in one of the rainiest places in North America (we all remember the Vancouver Olympics right? ) so we are used to the constant feeling of moisture overload :lmao:. I'm secretly hoping for some rain when we go in February. Maybe it will keep the crowds down on Presidents day!

Just bring some spare socks to keep your feet dry. I would even do rain boots and bring shoes.

I'm sure everything will work out just fine, wet or dry... rain can't stop the magic of Disney! :thumbsup2

Ok!! First of all wear your warmest winter coat on the plane! Take heavy sweats shirts, too! Go to the Dollar Store they sell 2 pouches for a dollar. Buy two packs per person that is going, they tear. And at times we have just thrown them away instead of carrying wet pouches into the hotel. We have left them in the trunk of the car to dry out for the next day.

Take rain boots/shoes[not sneakers], and draw string trash bags that can be tried around the waist and cut just above the ankles to keep driving rain from soaking jeans thru making for a trip back to the hotel to change.

This is the trip to make use of the indoor shows and rides!! Especially when it is raining hard. Also this is the time to eat indoors take in the like the Golden Horseshoe and catch Billy Hill & The Hillbillies performing a must-see mix of bluegrass music and wacky comedy. The Enchanted Tiki Room, is an other favorite!!

Rides will be walk on times!! you won;t believe the music you will be able hear from land to land! And it was the 1st time i heard all the words on Pirates and HM even in entry room!! Oh it was so cool to walk on the Fantasy rides which I hadn't ridden in years!!

I had to take pics of the emptiness in the land!!

I would no expect rain the whole time, but in any event get ponchos at a local dollar store before going and you will be fine. I love Disneyland in the rain, but I am also local, so I can go home when I get too cold....Also, as long as you are wet be sure to go on Grizzly and Splash, they are always fun in the rain and usually have no line when raining (never have understood that, you are wet anyway, what does it matter?)

Bottom line is just have fun and enjoy no matter what comes your way.

One thing to keep in mind about long-range forecasts is that quite often they aren't all that reliable. some of the local forecasters up here frequently talk about how this works, and the long-range forecasts can miss things like entire mountain ranges when making predictions. This is because the computers the forecast models are running on are going to be spending most of their time on crunching the 24-48 hour models, with predictions farther out being more of an afterthought than anything. This isn't to say that there isn't a possibility you could run into rain (which there definitely is) but that it's a little early to start panicking over it. The lines would definitely be shorter, but there is also possibility of parade/fireworks cancellations if it rains (Fantasmic could be delayed/cancelled also, but I'm guessing WoC would be immune to rain issues.) If they announce that the parade is being replaced by Mickey's Rainy Day Cavalcade, don't bother.

Some explanation of some of these things can be found here:

The weather report has been a bit like a rollercoaster ride but now that it is getting closer it does look like rain.

That's ok thought since most of you have convinced me that it will be so much fun with lesser lines! We have bought rain gear and poncho's and are ready to make the most of it and have a blast! Rain or shine here we come!

So hoping this doesn't happen! We are booked for the 3pm Holiday Tour on 12/20.

My husband bought what looks like (in the package) some decent ponchos from Walgreens. I hope it turns out ok!

The weather forecast indicates that the weekend should have the most rain, gradually lessening. Hopefully most of it will have passed by Monday for you.

I called DL and managed to move our tour from Saturday to Wednesday - but not without some stern "We're making a HUGE exception for you" admonishments. Although the 3pm tour was sold out, I managed to get on the 12pm tour. Hoping that waiting a few days for the tour will result in a lesser chance of the parade being rained out.
