I am so mad

Disney peeks in on the DIS every now and then....there's proof of that.

If there hasn't already been a staff meeting regarding the checking of AP's, there probably will be!

We were in AKL this Nov and they never asked us to check our passes. Although we were in Poly last Dec and they have asked for it. So I just asumed their computer shows when our pass expires and they did not ask because they knew we were good.

For the record we are always asked to show our APS. mrsbifflesworth, I LOVE your saying "Time wounds all heels". I will probably use that phrase!! LOL!! My Mom and Grandmother's favorite phrase has been "What goes around comes around". I believe it myself. I can imagine that you are upset about your boss getting something she's not entitled to, but as others have said it really really depends on the CM. Just my 2 cents.

How did she break a rule?
Aren't you supposed to actually have an AP if you request an AP rate?

Wasn't it the CM that broke the rule?
Assuming they are supposed to ask, then yes, the CM broke a rule ALSO.

There are a lot of people who have NOT been asked for their AP at check in, are they all dishonest?
Not if they do have an AP. If they don't have an AP, then yes, they are being dishonest. Do you really think its NOT dishonest?

Why? What do you really care what he/she did?
This I can agree with. It maybe a fact that the boss is committing a dishonest act, but its not worth getting even irritated at.

We have never been asked to show AP, DC or even Amex(for Amex code last spring).

But, I wouldn't take a chance.

I doubt she got WL for $84:confused:

This is a most interesting thread. Part of me sees what the "boss" did as savvy business deal. In effect, is that not what happened? Did he or she not enter into a business deal with Disney Resorts? She asked for a particular rate, and Disney gave it to her with the stipulation that he or she present an AP at check in. They didn't ask, and he or she didn't present it. If they would have asked, he or she would have had to pay as much as rack rate if she could not produce one. That is business. That is what we all do, we give business to Disney. WE buy the company's clothes, movies, music, television, and vacations. We pay what they ask. Nothing more, and nothing less. The deal was for an AP rate. Boss would have had to pay full rate it came to it, and boss knew that as part of the deal.

On the other hand, Disney, for many, is not and should not be completely connected to the "real world." It is, after all, just fantasy. Our imaginations made real. We expect people not to bring into this world of our creation the "negative" experiences of business. For example, saying you have an AP when you do not, or booking an AP room without an AP or the intention to get one before check in, runs counter to what we want to see and hear about people's experience with Disney. For many of us, we are connected to this fantasy world because we truly believe in the Magic. When someone, like Boss, comes in and soils it, we get uncomfortable.

What Boss did is perfectly fine for the real world...but maybe not for Disney. The example of speeding and the cop not doing anything is an imperfect, at best, analogy. WE are not talking about the law here, we are talking about an unspoken, albeit, collectively understood rule of behavior.

A better analogy would be farting on a crowded elevator. Doing so is well within your rights. But it still stinks.

Peace,

;) ;) ;)

Just for the record, I wouldn't take the chance either. I booked with the AP rate and you can damn well bet I will have it. That DOES NOT mean that I get to be morally responsible for the rest of the world. We really have no way of knowing if the boss was just pulling her leg, she apparently was about the price, so maybe she's lying about the AP too.

Even if she was 100% telling the truth and wasn't asked for it and didn't bother to offer it up (which MANY guests have done) who is this person to decide the 'morals' of others? Should she actually (you gotta be kidding me here) call the hotel and tell them they have a guest there staying under the AP rate but didn't show the AP? Dear God people, get over yourself! You are not the moral majority, you can't MAKE people be 100% honest and I seriously suggest you quit trying.

I DARE somebody to call, you will be sure to get your 'friend' NBAGoofy fired for your 'goodness', will it have been worth it? How many other people do you think the boss told that piece of news to? I doubt many, because most people wouldn't know what the heck he/she was talking about.

Look on this thread alone and see how many people said they checked in without being asked to show their AP, why are they not just as dishonest? Because they 'said' they had it? How do you know they're telling the truth? bBecause they are the honest people of the DIS? Yeah right, I forgot that makes them the moral majority.

Aren't you supposed to actually have an AP if you request an AP rate?

As far as I know, having an AP in hand when an AP reservation is made has never been a requirement. I've always been told to have it when I check in (even though they have never asked to see it).

I do have one comment about people getting AP rate rooms, then cancelling them and using a regular code since this books up all the AP room and they're not even being used. As I saw on another thread on this board, the AP rooms do not go back into the AP rate pool, so when you cancel and use another code then those of us with APs don't get to utilize the priviledges of the pass we pay so much for. Even if you're intending on buying one if a better code comes out, booking up the rooms takes them away from others.

Sorry, but there is nothing immoral or unseemly about cancelling an AP rate room if something better comes along. If I were to keep the room, it would still be unavailable to someone else, so what's the difference? I'm going with the best room rate I can find, period. If it happens to be AP, then I'll buy my seasonal pass when I get there, and get the rate. Otherwise, I'll switch to something else.

I'm going with the best room rate I can find, period.

Good point. Disney is there to make money, that doesn't mean that I am here to give them top dollar if I don't have to. You have the same chance I have at calling and getting the AP rate, if I called before you, is that my fault or yours?

Am I the only one who sees the irony of a person complaining about her unscrupulous Boss while typing on a DISboard at work?

Just wondering. . .

Yup! Enough is enough.

Take the moral arguments and judgements to the Debate Board where they can sit with the mugs, buses and crockpots - this one is done here though.
