I am so mad

I just got back from WL and paid $149 (tax included) with an AP. So I'm sure she is paying more that $84. But I understand your being upset. It kinda upsets me because there are only limited rooms blocked for AP discounts and when people without one gets a room, someone with one doesn't. I have never been asked to show my AP. Maybe the CMs should started doing that. Don't let it ruin your day. Have a happy holiday.

I just got off the phone with my boss who is at the WDW as I am typing this. She told me that when she made her reservations she said that she was an AP holder. This is her first time at WDW and she does not have an AP. When she checked in they did not ask to see her pass. Is this possible? Do the cast members not check to see if you have an AP. My boss was very pround of her self for getting the WL for $84 a night (I believe this is what she said). I was so mad when she told me. Is what she did really possible or am I mad over nothing and she really paid what someone without an AP would pay. Please tell me so I don't explode. I never really like my boss that much to begin with, if this is true I have lost all respect for her.

I got an AP rate this past October at the Poly. The CM never once asked me for the AP. She even acknowledged that I had an AP rate saying how good the rate was. I've heard quite a few people haven't been asked for an AP for proof.

First she lied to you and told you she had an AP.

Then she told you she got a great rate without an AP. Why would you believe a known liar?

If you are so inclined, call down to the WL and tell them that one of their guests has defrauded them. If she's still there - maybe they'll ask to verify her AP prior to check out and charge her the difference. Of course, if she finds out it was you, she may fire you when she gets back. LOL

Of course she'll fire her, who else would it be. I REALLY hope you're not that spiteful, because whatever she gets for doing what OBVIOUSLY many others have done, you will get back.

The CM had every chance to ask her for the AP (which BTW she may have already bought), the CM didn't ask. How is that the guest's fault?

I've only used an AP rate twice, and I wasn't asked for my AP either time, so I don't think it is that uncommon.

Chill out people. This thread is as bad as the refillable mugs and 5 to a room threads. I don't think WDW made any of us the AP police. Although, if this thread ends, I'll lose part of my day's entertainment, so carry on! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Interesting thread. I've stayed with the AP rate and I have been asked to show the pass and I have not been asked. I think its up to thee person you get at the time and perhaps the resort. So you never know.

But you Boss was not telling you the truth when she said she paid $84. No way.

You can always call the lodge and tattle tail. But then you would fall below her level.

Some folks live their lives going from one tale to another. It always comes back to haunt them. Don't sweat it.

I've also never heard of $84 at WL. The moderates are going for $85 so I doubt WL would be $84!

I have never been asked to produce an AP, my FL drivers license or my AAA card. I have always been legit. I even pay for my now over 18-yr-old son while I know that many do not.

I was intrigued to see that staff is now requesting room key cards for Early Entrance Days at the theme parks. About time!

How about all of the times you get on a Disney resort bus? No one ever makes you show ID.

I guess it's just that many of us wouldn't sleep well at night. :p

All the times I've used AP rates (stays at the GF, CR, BC, and ASMu), I've never been asked to show the AP. But, of course, if they would have asked for it I would have been able to quickly present it to them. :)

Your boss is just trying to impress you. These are my reasons for thinking this:

1) You must be a Disney freak (like the rest of us), because you're on this site. And your boss must know that you're a Disney freak because you talk and talk and talk about Disney (like the rest of us).

2) You're boss barely knows what an AP is. (Air Pollution? Apple Pectin?) This is her first time to Disney.

My advice would be to show happiness for her successes, which will make her feel less like a newbie, and less alone in WDW, which is probably why she called you on her vacation in the first place.

I checked in at BWI 2 weeks ago with an AP rate and was never asked to show my AP. In the past, I have booked DC (or MKC) rooms and only 1 of the 4 times was asked for the card. The time I was asked for it was when I was being checked in by a supervised trainee. My AP rate at BWI was only $10 cheaper than the code rate, so it wasn't a big difference.

I've never been asked to show my AP when checking in with an AP rate. However, I've always been asked for my MKC/DC card when checking in with one of those rates. Strange. So, yes, it's possible she got the AP rate without actually having an AP.

My guess is your boss knows she can push your buttons over this and she's adding to her vacation jollies by pushing away.

However, I feel safe in saying there's no way on earth she got a WL room for $84/night. Unless there's some new room category I don't know about, like standard view housekeeper's closet! ;)

Though $84/night seems exceptioannly low, I did ge a quote of $89/night at AKL last year shortly after 9/11. We ended up staying at ASMo since it was $55 w/tax, but I was offered AKL twice by 2 different cast members. We should have gone since I'm sure it will never be that cheap again, definitely nothing compared to the holiday rate we'll be paying this New Year's. Also, we were offered PO for $71/night at the same time. I'm sure though this was because of the low in visitors b/c of Sept. 11th and wen we went it was practically empty and in 3 days we saw every attraction and every parade in each park (except SpaceM, RnRC, and ToT because I am afraid of them). So at that time it was worth it to sell the rooms that cheap since no one was staying in them.
I do have one comment about people getting AP rate rooms, then cancelling them and using a regular code since this books up all the AP room and they're not even being used. As I saw on another thread on this board, the AP rooms do not go back into the AP rate pool, so when you cancel and use another code then those of us with APs don't get to utilize the priviledges of the pass we pay so much for. Even if you're intending on buying one if a better code comes out, booking up the rooms takes them away from others.

I am one of those that book an AP room and then later possibly change it. I already have the AP so it isn't like I'm booking a room without it in hand. My reason is because sometimes the codes released to the general public are better then the AP rate and sometimes not. If the public code is better, then you better believe I'm going with that one. If the AP rate is better then I stick with that one. If WDW was so concerned about it then they would offer AP holders the best rates to begin with seeing that we spend quite a bit of money there. It should at least be a better rate then the public ones.

with using AP rates has been that the CM's always ask to see my pass. I understand why you're upset - those rates are suppose to be for Annual passholders. But I don't think not asking to see the pass is the norm.

Hey, though....I thought of something. If my boss got something extra I may be a little upset too. he he. Now if it were my mom or a friend I would just feel happy for them. So it depends on who it is.

PamNC
wants to go back but doesn't know when she can

Like so much of WDW much depends on which CM you talk to and when. Reservations, check-ins etc can differ tremendously on who you talk to. Maybe those who benefit are simply recipients of some Disney Magic. Do I smell sour grapes?:D
