Add me to that list!!!!! This trip has been nothing but split stays. :scared1: NEVER again. We have done split stays 4 years in a row..all summer trips. The first was 5 nights SSR and 3 at BWV. Then the next summer it was 8 at OKW and 5 at BCV (best split) and then last summer 2 at Poly, 5 at BCV and 2 at AKV Kidani. After last year...I swore I would never do a split unless we had at least 4 nights at each resort. I apparently didn't remember that FEELING. Now I don't want to ever split.

Fast forward to this summer. We stayed our arrival night at Buena Vista Suites. Then moved to Shades of Green for 2 nights in two rooms. THEN we moved to SSR for 7 nights in a 2br. THEN..today we moved to Vero for 4 nights BUT...... our first night (tonight) we are in a 1br and move to 2 garden inn rooms tomorrow. I LOST MY MIND COMPLETELY WHEN I PLANNED THIS TRIP.

Mark my words friends.................THIS DVC GIRL WILL NOT BE SPLITTING WITHIN WDW FOR A LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG TIME. We will ONLY stay at one resort in a 2 br. from now on. We will NOT extend our trips with "other resort stays" where we have to get two rooms. We are NOT 1 br. villa peeps either. WE NEED two bathrooms.........we are 2br. peeps.

Okay had to get that off my chest. :rotfl:

I hear ya. I don't like being "homeless" for one day either when moving resorts if the next room isn't available til 4 pm. I like to take an afternoon rest and if I have the grandbabies they need a nap. That said, we have a split stay in December- 2 nights Poly club level with cash followed by a week at AKL Club level. I plan to enjoy MK and do the MVMCP on one of the Poly nights so I'm trying to justify staying there and extending our stay a bit. Sounds like you had a great vacation though! ---Kathy

I understand completely. We had 4 moves last December and enough is enough. Moving can disrupt each day of the move and dealing with checking in and Mousekeeping can be tiring.

After our last split trip, (VB, AKV Kidani, SSR Treehouses) DH has officially limited our trips to ONE move...spoilsport! With so much variety in DVC resorts, it's hard to plan a trip with only TWO of them per visit. I"m trying, really I am. But when you own at both WDW and Vero, how can you not do split stays? If we went only to WDW, I'd miss Vero, and vice versa. And I can't see us going more than once per year, so staying in just one resort and and alternating each trip just wouldn't do it for me...too long in between visits to both places. So I will abide by his wishes...sigh...and I will enjoy not having to move so much but I will miss sampling more of the "flavors" of Disney each trip. When all is said and done, it's kind of a nice "problem" to have...I still feel blessed to have our DVC, however we use it!:lovestruc

You didn't mention why... :confused3

R you serious????? :rotfl2: Did you read how many times we moved..packed/unpacked. :confused3

It is a pain to be homeless for part of your day. We also moved from SOG on a park day. So that meant having the van packed up, get to MK around park opening, then our room was not ready until 4:00 so we had 3 hours to kill after leaving MK. Since I am never doing a split while staying at WDW :rotfl2: I don't have to worry....but if I lost my ever loving mind again :scared1:........I would NEVER split with the intention of going to a park on check out of first resort day/check in day at 2nd resort.

You are elected President of the " I Do Not Like to Move Rooms at WDW" and I will join you.

We used to do it, maybe we are getting old, or maybe the year Disney lost our luggage for 24 hours was the deal breaker.

Even if we drive and move our own luggage I just do not want to pack up and relocate.

I always feel like on the day I move, I am losing a day I have paid for.

Oh I can split between WDW and Vero or WDW and HHI..but I will no longer do the 2 or 3 resorts on one 8 to 10 day trip to Disney. ;)

Oh we had a great time.... but it was tiring especially at the beginning. Once we were at SSR it was very nice to be in one place for 7 nights. I will tell you...we stayed at Poly last summer for 2 nights to enjoy MK and it was my dd graduation request..... after it was all said and done I prefer my DVC. :thumbsup2

Done. We have also made a pact in our family if we extend a day its at the same resort.

I agree with that one. I don't think my family would want to move around our last day at all.

I enjoy split stays--to an extent. This Friday we start at SSR, then move to the CR on Saturday (since I couldn't get a room at BLT) and then we begin our DVC at BLT on Sunday. It will be a lot of moving with three little ones, but we'll manage.

In May we did (two moving days) arriving at POR, WL and BLT and it worked beautifully. I think moving more than twice would make me nutty though.

I enjoy a split stay but am starting to think it's an idea better left on paper. For me it's not the day of the move that's bad, it's the night before that kills my Disney buzz. I am a total unpacker so it's like I am completely repacking and unpacking multiple times.

I just realized our next trip we'll be in 3 different places! I keep forgetting about the cruise portion of our trip.

2 nights: Dolphin
3 nights: BLT
3 nights: Wonder

Had to split the cruise portion of the stay, staying at Dolphin because we have loads of Starwood points so I thought I'd use them and be close to Boardwalk/Hollywood/Epcot. Then wanted to stay near MK since we have little ones, so I chose BLT.
The downside is I'll have to be really organized in my packing as I'll probably just not unpack until we get to the boat (where you have to or you'll be sleeping on TOP of your suitcase!)

Very different than our VGC trips where we stay for 6 nights and literally move in :goodvibes

I love a split stay but only 2 resorts. I can't imagine moving more than once in a 8 day stretch. In Sept I am staying at Beach Club 4 days :lovestrucand while there We will do Epcot and have reservations at the restaurants in "That neck of the woods" than on to Bay Lake Towers for 4 days:love: There we will go to Magic Kingdom and have ADRs at the Restaurants at the monorail resorts. This is an adults only trip [ 4 sisters ] so that is easier than unpacking with kids. I am going to the park the day we move. I will do online check in and not worry about the room. At the end of the park visit the room will be ready when we get there.

I think split stays are like 2 mini vacations:banana:But I would not move in less than 3 or 4 days so there is enough time to feel settled.

Pre-WDW..We're doing Universal-RP Hotel.Getting into Orlando late anyway, so we decided to experience Wizarding World Harry Potter and Hollywood Rip Ride Coaster the next day and some other IOA and US rides! For our Universal trips, we've only done on site Universal Hotels....love the Universal Express pass!!!In my opinion, the only way to go!:cool1::cool1:

Can't wait for our 3 night Kidani...Then of course Vero....Vero necessitates a split stay...:cool1:

EDK35...Hope you're having a blast at Vero! How is the beach these days? Can't wait!:dance3::dance3:

Sometimes we do split stays, but it's usually not with the DGC's family. What I especially like doing is AKV/BCV, usually in that order. When we cruised with DGC's family last year, we did BCV, DCL cruise, then 1 night at AKV, and we all thought that was fun. DS/DDiL like to take the very last plane home, so they had a full second day at Kidani and the kids just loved that pool and the whole experience. They didn't seem to mind not having a room. However, the weather was just about perfect, it could have been tough.

Denise, I totally see where you're coming from! I hope you and your family can look back at this vacation fondly,(while saying, "never again") and that you really enjoy these last few days at VB!

Bobbi:goodvibes

I'm a member of the split stay haters club too! I don't mind a couple nights on one end or the other (especially if one of them is in concierge at AKV), but I like to totally unpack and "move" in, so split stays are a royal PITA for me. We sometimes do a concierge stay on one end of our trips, and I just don't completely unpack for those, but it's still a hassle.

We take so much stuff with us since we drive that a split stay would be totally impractical. I see the appeal but it isn't for us. We take a bunch of food and drinks and totally unpack and don't want to have to repack and check in again. No thank you!

I was surprised at how many do split stays. Then of course I join DVC and find myself doing a split stay this fall ;) The only reason I was willing was because I am going early and wanted to use points for part of the trip. The first 3 nights will be me & a son and will be like a different trip. Then DH, our other son & my mother arrive and the real vacation starts. Normally we only stay 5-6 nights so a split stay would really be hard and would limit our plans.
