As Dear Abby says Nobody can take advantage of you without your permission. I don't think you over-reacted, maybe they will think twice now about messing with your stuff. In fact I think you were pretty polite about the whole affair.

C.Ann - you did good!

Now - when you run into one of them, just remind them to keep their hands off your stuff! and stay off your property! - (I'm sure you can keep it "light" and neighborly!)

You should live next to my neighbors, you would think yours were pretty normal! LOL:rolleyes:

{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}} I too think you did the right thing. Actually it was the same as stealing your things, was it not?

C.Ann, Hi there..
Many here on the boards know that I am neuroticaly neat..I would not have taken your things no matter what I thought of how you kept your property.(Which does not sound messy, just sounds beachy) To take your chairs and place them where you could see them with a free sign is outrageous.. I may have cleaned up your beach property if it was near mine, but I would not have removed trees etc... I have had extremely PIGGIE neighbors and the worse thing I did was to ask them if the minded if we built a higher fence... (so we would not see the trash and crap in their yard every day)
I think you were in the right but maybe not in the right frame of mind when when you met up with the neighbor today...;)
I hope when you are more relaxed you can wander over and have a chat with them regarding "neighborly attitudes and actions" Good luck
btw, how is hubbie?

C. Ann,

I admire your restraint and tact. I personally would have gone way out there!! (Doesn't help that I am married to a police officer, I know all about restraining orders).

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr............the NERVE of SOME people!!

So, Carol Ann. I guess I Can call back Vito and Antnee from coming over there and taking care of business the way that it should be done?

No problem!!!:teeth:

But if youse got any more trouble, just ring!!!

Adam aka Big (freakin) Dude

Goodness, with all you've had to deal now you have wacky neighbors messing with your stuff. As the others said, you really handled it well. I'm afraid that I would be a basket case around these people.

The nerve of some people. I have thrown away empty soda cans and candy wrappers from the neighbors yard if they were close to my yard and it was clear they were staying there - but that's as far as any neighbor should go. These people were clearly trespassing and are lucky you didn't report them to the police when they cut down your trees or destroyed your picnic table.

Personally I think cabins at the lake are supposed to be relaxed and a little rust is to be expected.

The unmitigated GALL of those people!!!

I agree completely!! My Mother wouldn't do that, why let a 'neighbor' do it?! Unspeakable and rude, imo!! Have they no respect?! (That question is obviously answered!) UGH!!

Just what you need!!

Here, more {{HUGS}}!! ;)

Wait - they took stuff off of your property and then put it at the curb marked free and you are worried about over reacting? PFFFT!

They basically stole the chairs from you to give them away/trash them. What would they have done if someone had taken the chairs and then you showed up and expected to use them?

I think you were very restrained.

You were being a lot more tolerant than I would have been. They have no right to mess with your things.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

Dearest Neighbor,
It has recently come to my attention that you are suffering from passive/aggressive and obsessive/compulsive disorders which compel you to take other people's property, without their prior knowledge, on a whim. This was apparent to me when you stole my property and then offered it to anyone with the will to pick it up on the street. In the future, be aware that I too suffer from a rare disorder that compels me to momentarily lose all ability to control my anger and I tend to lash out in ways deemed... well, rather scary. I wanted to warn you ahead of time so that we can avoid any future incidences that may trigger an uncontrollable outburst on my part. As I cannot be held responsible for my actions when others push me over the edge, I thought it would only be right to warn you of this in advance. It is always a good thing to note that others may be even crazier than you are.

sincerely,
Your favorite neighbor

oh poohandwendy.. it is very, very late but I am glad to be up dising just to see your post...

I like jack handy's method better:

Leave a pumpkin on their doorstep. There's a knife stuck in the pumpkin & paper attached that simply reads "YOU". ;)

Oh man, I would be fuming too! I think what you said was perfect. They had no right to touch your property without your permission!Shame on them!

Sometimes I think people overreact, but I don't think that is the case here. I, too, would have been upset.
