DH took our new kitty, Spotty, to the Humane Society to get neutered.

On the way there, he got scared and peed, and since he was in a cat carrier he sat in it...get him home today, he stinks!!!

I'm trying that waterless cat-bath stuff (NOT made by Hartz...a brand called Veterinarian's Best from the pet supply store.) I really don't want to give him a bath in water...but he still stinks. Maybe I should try again after he dries.

Smelly cat, smelly cat....

Smelly Cat, Smelly cat what are they feeding you?
Smelly Cat, smelly cat it's not your fault...

They won't take you to the vet.
You're obviously not their favorite pet.
You may not be a bed of roses,
And you're no friend to those with noses.

Smelly cat, smelly cat what are they feeding you?
Smelly cat, smelly cat it's not your fault!

I have a reason to sing "Cat Scratch Fever" today. :p Cat nailed my forehead this afternoon. Vet has CAUTION written on our kitty's file in big, friendly letters. :scared:

:rotfl: This cracks me up because our vet has CAREFUL written in big red letters on my oldest cat's file! :p She turns into Satan at the vet's!

Our old vet had that written on Precious (Mar 1999-Oct 2002) file. We took her in to get spayed after she came into heat and STAYED that way for months. The vet agreed it was time for an emergency spay and ended up wishing he'd worn armpit length hawker's gloves. When he came out of the room, after putting her under and spaying her, he had scratches from his fingernails up his entire arm. :earseek:

Well, Dh came home, and bathed him...used our BBW shower gel...he smells mostly like vanilla now, but still some pee smell. He didn't love the bath, but he tolerated it...I guess because most of the time DH was rubbing him, and he loves that. He'll put up with water if it means getting attention. And he's still only 9 months old. No former bad water memories. ;)

i have never bathed either my cats... should I?

I normally never bathe mine either, but this was a "special circumstance." They stay indoors and usually do fine on their own.

Brutus thinks clean cats taste better.

haha. Well, it sounds like you have a better smelling cat now. That's good at least. haha. Funny though.

I think he could, but he likes to savor the taste.

Maybe I should have peed myself when DM took me to get neutered :earseek: At least I would have gotten a bath out of it .Instead of just some cold pees :cold:

Spooky did the same thing, peed himself in the cage. Poor lil guy. My vet washed him for us. Thank goodness, because cat Pee is RANK, VILE stuff.

Mine get baths all the time! I have 6 presently and about every 6 weeks they get a bath, mainly because 3 are all white and they get a yellow tinge to them, although they never go outside. Another reason I do it is because I am asthmatic and it really keeps the dander down or non existant. I have always started them when they were young and although it is not their favoite thing they do tolerate it! I have a shower head with a hose on it and it is very easy to do. I owne a Himalayan that would actually get in the shower with me and loved to be blown dry sometimes even when he was dry he would jump up on the counter when I was drying my hair and want to be blown with the hair dryer.....he was one special cat!

We have a white and orange cat and his white fur is the cleanest you have ever seen!! He was a neighborhood stray when we first adopted him and even then w/ being outdoors all the time, he stayed clean. It's really kind of strange!

I have a female & male cat. The female (Lelu) keeps herself very clean, I have never had to bath her. Maxwell the male though tends to get greasy, and smelly sometimes. I have given him a couple baths. He is not a fan, but he tolorates it. It makes a huge differnce to his coat.

I reccomend having two people to give the bath. One to hold, and one to wash.
