Just received mine and used at work last night. Overall I was not too happy with it. I thought it would stay cold and the cubes would last for awhile and stay cold but after 2 hours the cubes were gone and the drink was getting warm. Do I need to chill the pop first and then put it in the hydro flask? Any suggestions would appreciated since this was not a cheap investment. Thanks.

I know that ours work really well. I would contact the company. Unless they've changed their product, it sounds like you may have a defective hydroflask.

If you just put a few ice cubes in the hydroflask with a non-chilled beverage then the ice cubes will melt. If you're going to use a non-chilled beverage then make sure you put in half or more ice cubes. Also make sure you are keeping the top screwed on. If you fill your hydroflask with 1/2 ice cubes and put in a chilled beverage and it doesn't keep it cold for 8 hours or more then you probably have a faulty flask. I have 2 myself and DS has 1 and we both love them. Be careful if you put really hot tea/coffee in it - it takes quite awhile for it to cool off enought to drink.

The flask will keep cold things cold, but they have to be cold when you put it in the flask. If you put the warm drink in it would cool down quick and melt the ice, just like in a regular glass. If you keep the lid on, it would keep it cooler than a glass, but still not going to be cold regardless.

I have a insulated vacuum bottle, too. (not hydroflask)

I am sure there is a named scientific law for this, but I don't know exactly how to explain it. Something like water temperature equalization.
Everything said above is true.

I fix a bottle before I go to bed for cool sips through the night. About one third ice cubes, the rest tap water. The ice cubes make the tap water nice and cold, melting as they perform their task. In the morning, my remaining water is still nice and cold, but seldom any ice cubes. It really depends on the temperature water started with. If I had put in more ice cubes, I would have more ice cubes left in the morning. But not as much liquid to drink!

Brumeiser -- It sounds like you just a hold of one that wasn't good. I had mine for 1 1/2 years and dropped it several times and it still kept my cold drinks icy cold for 24 hours - in fact, sometimes longer than that. If I didn't finish my water at the end of my work day, I would leave my flask on my desk and the ice cubes would still be there inside the next day. But I thank you for the opportunity to tell you what makes Hydroflask stand out from other companies.

I mentioned I dropped mine several times but it still worked just fine. The last time, it stopped working and I could feel the cold through the outside. I sent a quick email off to Hydroflask and got a superfast reply telling me to send it back and they would check it out. The receipt from the post office said it was supposed to arrive on Saturday so imagine my surprise when on my door step I received my new, shiny Hydroflask on Monday! And even better, it came with a HAND-WRITTEN NOTE!!! What company gives that kind of service any more??? I was so impressed that I am not only telling everyone but I have my note on my desk at work for everyone to see.
Mainegal, you know I love ya, but I've been waiting a long time to say this. Do you think anyone from Thermos would be writing you a hand-written note to thank you for your business when they offer you your free replacement flask? Maybe it's just me, but anyone can offer a good product (you can already see the Thermos vs Hydroflask debate) but it is customer service that truly makes a company stand out. For that reason, my business will always be with Hydroflask.

I totally agree! This company has awesome customer service. I ordered three flasks back in the summer last year during the free shipping promo they had. Well, the day they were delivered the mail man left the package in front of my garage door and I didn't see it and ran over the box. Totally destroyed the flasks. I sent an email asking if there was any kind of insurance on the shipping that I could file a claim on (because really, who leaves a box where it can be run over :confused3) and quickly received an email back. All I had to do was send them pictures of the damaged flasks, pay the shipping for new ones, and they replaced them for free. Since I didn't pay for the shipping in the first place, I thought this was an awesome deal and was more than willing to pay for the replacement shipping. Never will I buy another "thermos" water bottle. I've seen similar ones that, while I may like the lid or cap better, I know that the bottle will never be the same because the company isn't the same.
