We are flying down the night before we sail and staying at the Hyatt at the airport. I did not book the hotel through Disney - I did it online. Last time we sailed, we flew the morning of the cruise (way too early for me!) and our luggage was checked in Philly and ended up in our stateroom. Does anyone know if we fly the night before if we are responsible for our luggage or does it go into some holding area at the airport until the next morning?

Cabin8538,

We are doing the same thing in November and from what I understand, you leave your luggage outside your hotel door the night before and the Hyatt transfers it to the port. Maybe someone out there with first hand info can confirm this?

When you stay at the Hyatt, you are responsible for getting your luggage when landing in MCO. You then take it to the Hyatt with you. At the Hyatt, you inform the front desk and bell services that you're on a DCL cruise and you'll be able to leave your luggage outside your room and it will be collected from the Hyatt and brought to the ship for you.

Are you taking DCL transport? If you are flying in the day before, collect you luggage and check in. I am not sure if this is still the case if you do not use Disney transport, but notify the hotel that you are on the DCL cruise. they will give you instructions on luggage pick up from your room and transport the luggage for you to the ship. Make sure you put on the DCL tags and not when you leave Philly..

Have fun on your cruise....

scottygirl -

I see we're on the same cruise!!! We're also staying at the Hyatt on November 5th!!! I'll see you there!!!

jel0511,

Yes we are on the same cruise! I have made a couple of attempts to post on the Cruise Meets board and haven't received much response. It would be nice to be able to chat about the cruise with fellow passengers. :teeth:

It was confirmed on our March 20th cruise that you are suppose to use DCL luggage pick-up from the halls only if you have purchased DCL transportation. We had both DCL and Tiffany transportation. When we checked in the Hotel rep said to talk to the DCL reps in the morning before we leave the Hotel. The Reps wanted to know how many pieces of luggage we had and they confirmed we had DCL transfers. They didn't care if we were not on the bus, the transfers were needed for them to transport the luggage.

I know I have read on the board that some people use DCL pick-up even though they did not have DCL transfers. At least by going by the "book" we knew DCL hd an exact luggage count from us.

When you fly in the day ahead you pick up your luggage and take it to the Hotel. After you get to the Hotel is when you put the yellow DCL tags on. All luggage going to the ship must have the yellow tags.

Thank you everyone. We are using DCL transportation and it sounds like it will be easy! I was worrying about packing a large carry on in case we had to check the luggage all the way through. Is there a restaurant in the Hyatt? We don't get in until 9:30 pm.

There are two restaurants at the Hyatt, and several others in the airport concourse. Although you're arriving fairly late, there should be several options.

My advice would be to skip the breakfast buffet at the Hyatt (in the upstairs restaurant). It's pretty pricey and very mediocre.

Our flight gets into Orlando at like 11pm from Philly. We get our own luggage at the baggage handling area and take it to the hotel. When we check in (very late) we tell them at the check-in that we have DCL transfers and then we put the bags outside of our room with the tags on them? Won't they be stolen? lol Does the DCL bus pick us up at the Hyatt?
Thanks,

Luggae pick up is in the morning from your room..

DCL leaves from the terminal... Hyatt is in the terminal, you will need to go down the escalator from the lobby to meet the DCL reps

When you check in at the Hyatt, let them know you're a DCL passenger and are taking their transfers, and they'll give you an envelope with instructions on what to do with your bags. They usually want them outside your room by 8:30ish the next morning. The instructions will also tell you what time to check in for the bus in the morning, usually about 9:30am.

Another option for eating is room service. We found their room service quick and decent food. Pricey but we were so tired the thought of going any where was out of the question. One caution, my wonderful husband ordered a couple of drinks. The drinks came, I took a swallow and aghhhh, the gin and tonic was 100% gin! What a shock to my system. They quickly brought me a can on tonic water. Enjoy your wonderful cruise. The stay at the Hyatt makes the cruise feel like it starts from the moment you check into the Hyatt. Kathy

We stayed at the MCO Hyatt the night before our cruise in February and it worked out great! It was so nice to pick up our bags from the baggage claim area, go up the escalator and be at the hotel! We were told when we checked in to leave our bags in the hall by 8:00 am the next morning for DCL to pick up and transport to the ship. We used Happy Limo to go to the port, but the rep at the Hyatt said it was okay to do this. It was nice that we didn't have to worry about our luggage on Saturday morning! All of it made it to our stateroom just fine! By the way, the DCL reps can be found in the lobby of the Hyatt on Saturday morning. It seemed that everyone taking DCL transfers met there and boarded the buses on the driveway of the Hyatt. We plan to do the same thing for our cruise next February.

DIsney DOES take your luggage from MCO hyatt to the terminal. I just returned from the 4-day Wonder 3 weeks ago and below is part of the Trip Report:

We arrived at MCO Hyatt at about 10:45 pm. We were assigned room 9035. We booked all 3 rooms thru priceline for $ 38 per night. What a great deal! When we checked in, we told them we were going on the Disney cruise the next day. We were given an envelope inside which you would find a letter to the DCL guest. The letter explains what you should do with your luggage that you would like DCL to bring it to the ship. It does not say that you have to purchase the DCL transfer at all.

One of the paragraphs quotes:
“As an added service, DCL has provided complimentary luggage service to Port Canaveral on the day of your departure. Please place your bags outside your door with your Disney Cruise Line tags placed on them to ensure proper delivery to your next destination. “

We were a bit worried about putting the luggage outside our room. We spoke to the DCL representative early the next morning at around 8:15 am and he said we could take the luggage down to him. So we all took our luggage down the next day before 8:30 and have everything shipped to the cruise.

We also found that similar service is provided to those people who are heading to any WDW resort.

We felt that we were well taken care of by DCL even the day before we got there. So, we all had a wonderful sleep that night and were ready for the day of embarkation!

On our March 20 cruise this year the hotel told us we had to check in with the DCL rep the next morning even though we had alternate transportation and the DCL rep told us we had to have DCL transers for them to take the luggage. They also checked our names on a list and wrote down the number of luggage pieces they were transporting for us. Apparently not all workers at the hotel or DCL follow the same policy. Kathy

So how do I purchase transfers for my luggage and not my family? Is the cost the same as if I were on the bus? I'm not trying to be difficult, I really would like to send the luggage with Disney and not have to transport it myself!

Thanks

Tandy

We just returned from our $38 priceline stay at the Hyatt and were also told that we could set our luggage out for Disney transport even though we were taking Cartier Limo Service to the port. We had it out by 8:30 and when we got to our room at 2 all of our luggage was waiting.

Hi all. We had stayed at the MCO Hyatt on 2/13-the night before DCL cruise. Upon check in at the Hyatt, there is a sign that tells you to identify yourself to the front desk if you are a DCL customer. The front desk clerk gave us an envelope that contained a letter stating that DCL provides complimentary luggage transfer from the MCO Hyatt.

I specifically asked at the front desk, if we had to pay for this. Happy Limo provided ground transportation for us. Front desk said no charge,

Also, our return flight was late-8:30PM!! We booked a day room at the Hyatt for that day. It was $60 and we had full use of the hotel. They took our luggage from our room to Jetblue check in for $5 plus tip.

Well worth it!
