HWS - Meet Characters at Sunset Showcase

Hi Guys,

Been looking at the boards for a while but just got around to creating an account after getting back from a 3 week trip. So this is my first post!

This might be well known but we couldn't see any advertising for it while we were in Hollywood Studios or find any details online so thought we would post it here. We found a massive character meet and greet at Sunset Showcase (above Rock n Roller Coaster where you get the express transportation from).

The Characters we met here were:
Evil Queen from Snow White
Dopey
Maleficent
Cruella de Vil
Dopey
Jasmine
Mulan
Tiana
Pocahontas
Br'er Fox

We were amazed how many characters there were to meet here and how empty it was as it seemed most people had no idea they were there! We only noticed as we were fast passing our way onto Rock n Roller Coaster and saw all the characters over the wall! Not sure if this was a special event or something but this was going on each day we were in Hollywood studios. This stopped about 19:00 with the cast members saying the characters had to get ready for Fantasmic!

Like @mesaboy2 said, this is an unscheduled M&G called Characterpalooza. As I understand it, it's a way to give new character "friends" some experience without throwing them right onstage. It's never found on a schedule, mostly because there's no knowing when or if it might happen. Kenny the Pirate has lots of info on it.

It's a way for the Fantasmic character performers to have a full work day rather than just coming in for a very short shift for the show that night.

It usually isn't advertised nor reported on the Boards because if large, unruly crowds form, the sets will be moved or stopped altogether.

Yep, sure fire way to get it canned is to discuss it. It's like Disney's version of a Fight Club.

That's actually something else. That is over at Epcot, Character Training Spots, there are 2, 3 different ones. They are sort of similar but smaller. Much smaller. Way more random.
