It was my daughter that was injured on splash mtn that night.
I just love how some people distort the truth though. I posted it because disney was doing nothing for us. I was not out looking for a free trip, a lawyer, nor did i sit in my room and sulk.
I came here for help, as i thought we were a big happy family of disney fans, and what happened. I got flamed by about 30% of the replies saying that she lied and stood up and we were wrong and there was no gap.
It was suggested to me to get a lawyer by posters. I only asked questions of that after that was posted on here. I did not sit in my room and sulk-do you know that i did-were you there?? I was in the room posting because i was looking for help on what to do since this has never happened before to us. It was my step daughters first time there ever, and no, it was not magical for her. It was day 2 of 9 there.
She braced herself for the drops in the 2 little ones, and managed to somehow get a few toes stuck in the crack that is up there. she almost got them out, but when the big drop came, it got wedged in again and further because she braced her foot for the fall. She had flip flops on. There is no rule that says those are not allowed. This time her toes were wedged in really tight and she couldnt get them out. They had to evacuate the ride and physically take the front of the log apart to get her out. The story of hers and my 2 sons all matched. If she were standing, im sure disney would have mentioned it by now which they have not.
When i called the next morning after she got out of the hospital at 4 am, the claims dept would do nothing for us at all. No
ECV or nothing. She had to be in a wheel chair most of the trip, and if not in that, on crutches, which she is still on.
The third day after it happened, claims finally called us and started talking to us. They got her story and were satisfied with it. They said they would like to settle before we go home. We said we will probably have to take her to our own dr when we return home because of the pain she still had. We did not settle because of that im sure.
Monday she went to the dr. Got xrayed and a tetnus shot which they said should have been given to her at the ER. She also has no feeling in the bottom of part of her foot now.
We are awaiting the xrays any day now and hear what the dr says to do. They suspect a broken toe or two. Disney called yesterday again and i filled her in. They are now mailing out a medical release for us to sign so they can get records from our dr and the bills. We were told while in WDW that they had a check for us for the ER and medical bills already. They are supposed to call us back on friday to see what the dr tells us.
I do again thank all of those who posted all the great positive replies and wished to my dsd. It made her feel better. I just cannot believe how the others say all i want is to sue disney. That was suggested to me and i asked if i should call one since they were not helping us. I guess i cant even ask a question here.
Am i bitter over this, you bet i am. I have been here for years, made many trips to wdw-7 in the last 7 years, and i get flamed for an injury and asking questions. I get told my kids are lying to me-none of you even know my kids and then get told im only looking for a free trip. I was looking for help for my daughter and where to go from here. Disney does offer compensation for stuff and it was not fair to her that she got hurt. I guess its wrong to hope that they do right by her, however big or small it may be.
I only hope that none of you or your children become seriously injured while away from home in another state, whether it be wdw or someplace else and not know where to turn. Believe me, its not fun, and to have people dog you who dont even know you or your kids.
